Ireland have fielded so poorly. This has summed up their performances in this tournament and why they haven't won.
This is a harsh lesson in international cricket for Ireland as Shafali Verma smashes the next ball after that drop away for four.
Smriti Mandhana then skies another shot that lands short of the fielder on the deep mid-wicket boundary.
When your luck's in...
And again!
Shafali Verma has feathered an edge through to wicketkeeper Mary Waldron but she cannot hold on.
I was praising the Ireland fielding 10 minutes ago but it has all gone wrong since.

Georgina Dempsey dropped it. She will be devastated. It was such a regulation catch. Mandhana thought that that was it and she was a gone.

Another drop. So frustrating for Ireland! That should have been a wicket.
Not again?!
Smriti Mandhana has clubbed a full toss straight to Georgina Dempsey at deep mid-wicket but she spills it!
You have to feel for Arlene Kelly there as she has bowled really well to crank up a bit of pressure on the India batters.
Ireland just cannot afford to give players like Smriti Mandhana too many chances.

Disappointment for Ireland. They'd built so much pressure for that moment.

That's so frustrating, she definitely got a hand to it. A life for India.
Oh what a chance for Ireland!
Smriti Mandhana charges Arlene Kelly but can only loop the ball to mid-off. Cara Murray gets both hands to it but the ball escapes her grasp!
It has been a patient start by Shafali Verma, but I have a feeling plenty more boundaries like this one will soon follow.

That over from Leah Paul has ruined the powerplay for Ireland. Things are looking a lot healthier for India.
That's more like it.
New bowler Leah Paul drops it in too short and Shafali Verma clubs the ball almost dismissively through the covers for four.
Left-hander Smriti Mandhana then perfectly threads the ball between mid-off and extra cover for another boundary to end the over and the power play.
That had everything: timing, technique, power, placement. Brilliant shot.

Shafali Verma needs to find some patience here. She's so used to getting off to a fast start.
There's a change of bowling as Arlene Kelly comes into the attack and Shafali Verma very nearly chips her second ball straight to the fielder at mid-wicket.
This looks a pretty slow, stodgy pitch which seems to be making timing the ball difficult.
It is all a bit pedestrian - though I'm sure Ireland will be happy with that given how dangerous these India openers can be.
More good fielding down at deep fine leg prevents another boundary from Smriti Mandhana. Ireland have been criticised for their fielding at times this tournament but they have been alert so far here.
Eleven runs in total off a bit of a messy over. The India batters have yet to find their rhythm.

Teams have got Smriti Mandhana out like that in the past. It's a shot she can mishit.

Just over the leaping fielder. Ireland had a fielder on the ring but she was unable to get enough spring in the legs.
Ooh, inches away from a catch!
Smriti Mandhana plays a pull shot away for two to deep backward square boundary. She repeats the trick next ball, but it goes airborne and just evades a diving Arlene Kelly at short fine leg and runs away for four.

It's a good start here from Ireland. They've shown glimpses of what they can do this World Cup. They'd have seen what they need to do to get to the next level.
