  1. Ind 16-0published at 3 overs

That's a classy shot from Smriti Mandhana.

She is not offered that much width by Orla Prendergast but the left-hander takes a stride forward and plays a lovely wristy drive through the covers for four.

Just the five runs off the over though. This has been a decent start by Ireland, who have not let the India openers cut loose - so far.

Some promising signs already, you can see the potential with the ball moving and beating the bat.

  3. Ind 11-0published at 2 overs

You offer Shafali Verma some width and she will punish you.

Teenager Georgina Dempsey, recalled to the team today, struggles with her line early on and Verma is able stretch and cut the ball through to covers for four.

That is a good comeback though, Dempsey goes fuller and tempts Verma into a play and miss outside off stump.

The 18-year-old seamer can take encouragement from that.

These two sides haven't faced each other since 2018. Sometimes it's difficult as a batter to face bowlers you're not used to. Maybe that's why Verma struggled a bit in the first over.

We haven't seen too many threes run this tournament!

  6. Ind 4-0published at 1 overs

Orla Prendergast gets a bit of early swing into a watchful Shafali Verma, who gets off the mark with a nudge down to fine leg.

Prendergast then drops t into too short to Smriti Mandhana, who mistimes a pull onto the on side but India can still run three.

    A quiet start.

India will know they will need to win this game and by a long way to help their net run-rate and hope Pakistan do them a favour against England to help them top the group and not face Australia in the semi-finals.

I don't think that will be on their mind today. I think they'll want to produce an all-round batting performance because we haven't seen that from them in this tournament so far.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma will open the batting for India.

Orla Prendergast, one of Ireland's better players this tournament, will open the bowling.

    Away we go...

The average age of this Ireland side is 24, quite a lot younger than anyone else in this competition.

It is a windy afternoon in Gqeberha as the flags of both countries billow in the breeze during the national anthems.

There is the possibility of a shower or two later on, but let's hope we get lucky and it stays away. For now there is plenty of blue sky and sunshine up ahead.

Ireland's tournament has been a bit of a disaster to be honest. They came in with high hopes but they'll be disappointed to lose to Pakistan and West Indies, two teams that they thought they could beat.

There are two games left in Group 2 and there is still plenty to play for.

England's place in the semi-final was confirmed on Sunday when Pakistan were beaten by West Indies. They will be guaranteed top spot, and swerve defending champions Australia in the semis, if they avoid defeat in their final game against Pakistan on Tuesday. They could still top the group if they lose, but it would be decided on net run-rate if India join them on six points.

India will join England in the last four, and on six points, if they avoid defeat against Ireland today. They could finish top if they win by a large margin and England lose to Pakistan on Tuesday.

Pakistan need to beat England and hope India lose to Ireland to claim second place.

  14. 'We're secretly confident'published at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2023

Ireland captain Laura Delany: "We are looking forward to the game. We're yet to put in our best performances but if we stick to our processes we're confident we'll do that today. We're secretly confident, the pressure is on India to come out and perform. We're really looking forward to getting started.

"There is a lot of fight being showed. Orla Prendergast, Cara Murray and Leah Paul have been absolutely outstanding, and are three of the younger girls, but have shown glimpses of what they are capable of on the world stage. There is a great energy and buzz around group. It is a great group to be a part of."

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "We're going to have a bat first, it's a hard surface and looks very dry for us.

"Many of us didn't get the runs we were expecting, today is a great opportunity for us to get some runs."

[On making her 150th appearance] "It means a lot, today I got an emotional video from my teammates.

"I am completing my 150, it's showing how much cricket we're playing and that's a real positive. It's a great achievement for me."
