  1. How's stat?!published at 06:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2023

Bangladesh might not be viewed as a powerhouse of world cricket but they are still a very useful side, especially in their home conditions.

In fact, the Tigers have won nine of their last 10 ODI series on home soil.

The one series defeat? To England back in 2016.

  2. Ban 38-1published at 7 overs

Solid again from Woakes, just the one misstep as he offers Tamim a touch too much width and is punched through the off side for four.

That boundary is surrounded by dot balls as England continue to try and drag this back after a quick start for the hosts.

Simon Mahon: Rare perk of working an early giving me the opportunity to be awake and watching Chris Woakes nipping it off a length, snaring batsmen LBW.

  4. Ban 34-1published at 6 overs

That wicket seems to have settled England down and it's a very good over from Archer.

Just one from it and a couple of ferocious deliveries, including the last to Shanto. The ball jumps up at him and the left-hander barely has time to get his bat up to fend it off.

  5. Ban 33-1published at 5 overs

Najmul Hossain Shanto is the new batter for Bangladesh, another left-hander to join Tamim.

He blocks the last ball of a successful Woakes over.

That wicket ball from Woakes gets better with every viewing, very clever and skilful bowling.

It looked good and it was good - three reds!

It was a lovely delivery from the England seamer, dragging the right-hander forward and then getting the ball to straighten.

There's enough movement to beat the bat and hit the back leg in front of off stump. A wicket that England will hope can get them going in this game.

  7. Bangladesh reviewpublished at 4.5 overs

Is it the perfect response from Woakes?

He raps Litton on the back pad, the umpire raises his finger but the batter reviews.

    Looked good in real time.

  8. 6 runs

    Ban 33-0published at 4.4 overs

Three dots from Woakes... and then bang - six!

Litton Das swivels on a pull shot and nails it over deep backward square.

  9. Ban 27-0published at 4 overs

Better from Archer as the over goes on and he beats Litton with a beauty that just moves away from the right-hander.

The pace is right up for the England fast bowler which is a positive, he tops out at 93mph in that over.

  10. Ban 25-0published at 3.1 overs

Archer is struggling for rhythm early here, perhaps unsurprising given how long he was out for and the relatively small amount of cricket he's played since his return.

Another no-ball to start his next over and this time Tamim is able to heave the free hit through mid-wicket for four.

It is fair to say that the opening morning of the third Test between India and Australia has been eventful.

The hosts, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, have lost seven wickets in the opening session.

Virat Kohli has top-scored with 22, while spinners Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon have claimed three wickets each.

India currently lead the four-Test series 2-0.

    Follow the game.

  12. Ban 20-0published at 3 overs

    Tamim 13, Litton 0

Litton Das has had to wait a while but finally faces his first ball of the innings and is promptly hit just below the knee-roll.

England appeal but that is heading down leg and they don't even consider a review.

Woakes is trying to bowl very straight but goes too far with a couple of deliveries, one flicking off Litton's pads for four leg-byes and the next sneaking down leg for another wide.

  13. Ban 15-0published at 2 overs

    Tamim 13, Litton 0

The outfield is lightning quick in Mirpur and just a firm forward defensive shot from Tamim goes quickly through point and is only just flicked back before the rope.

Archer nails a yorker before Tamim whips a delivery off middle stump, through square leg for four. Expensive over.

  14. Ban 9-0published at 1.1 overs

Not the best start for Jofra Archer. He begins with a wide down leg and follows it up with a leg-stump half-volley that Tamim clips through square leg for the first boundary of the day.

It's a no-ball as well but Archer limits the damage with a slower ball that completely deceives Tamim.

  15. Ban 3-0published at 1 over

A single from the last ball of a good Woakes over. He'll still be frustrated by that drop, though.

Good start from Woakes but he's put down a tough return chance in this first over.

There is plenty of bounce for him early and Tamim Iqbal is unable to keep the ball down as he pushes it back towards the bowler.

Woakes has to get down low in his follow-through, gets both hands to it but can't cling on.

  18. Postpublished at 05:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2023

England batter Dawid Malan, speaking on Sky Sports: "Preparation has been very good. We've had four days of training, we don't normally get that many on tours these days so that was good to get used to conditions.

"I want to score as many runs as I can and win as many games for England as I can. These are very tough conditions to come and play in Bangladesh, it's going to be a fantastic challenge for us.

"It's a great learning curve for things if selected down the line. There are players who will 100% come in down the line once they are fit and available but it gives players an opportunity to stake a claim for one or two other spots.

"It creates a good healthy competition."

After the injury problems they've both had in recent years, how good is it to see Jofra Archer and Mark Wood back playing in the same England XI?

They both played key roles in the World Cup win in 2019 and with the defence of that title around the corner, it's perfect timing for England...
