  1. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 18-4 v Essex 266

Turning point? Well, maybe not, but you never know.

Very catchable nudge behind from John Simpson but Adam Rossington puts it on the floor.

Middlesex cannot afford to lose any more wickets before tea, surely.

  2. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 11-0

Two fours in the first two overs from Haseeb Hameed.

The Notts openers were positive in putting on 42 yesterday and we can imagine they will try to bat in a similar fashion here.

The deficit is quickly down to 35.

  3. wicket

    WICKET - Budinger c Revis b Milnes 21published at 15:13 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 28-1

After a lively start by Leicestershire opener Sol Budinger, the Foxes opener perishes for 21 to earn Yorkshire their first wicket.

The new man is visiting skipper Lewis Hill as the Foxes attempt to respond to the Tykes' daunting total.

  4. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 8-4 v Essex 266

Here's the Middlesex scorecard from a few minutes ago.

Middlesex fans will be relieved to know they've moved on to 8-4 since.

Rare you'll see a card like that though. The lowest total against Essex apparently is Surrey's paltry 14 in 1983. Think Middlesex should beat that...

  5. wicket

WICKET Bohannon c Abbott b Steel 32published at 15:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 108-2 v Surrey 442

Josh Bohannon has really given it away here.

After batting very nicely, he loosely drives a ball from Cameron Steel straight to short extra cover.

A bonus wicket for Surrey, this one.

Nokeeroe: Middlesex wickets are tumbling like ninepins at Lord's.

Max Holden has just scored the first run by a batter in the Middlesex innings to edge them to 5-4 and, boy, did it receive some ironic applause from the shell-shocked home spectators...

  7. wicket

HAMPSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 231published at 14:55 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 all out v Nottinghamshire 185

James Fuller gets to the fifth ball of Dane Paterson and tries to work a short ball to leg but gloves it behind.

Hampshire end with a useful lead of 46, but certainly far, far from a decisive one.

Notts have fought back well today with 7-112.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Stoneman c A Cook b S Cook 0published at 14:52 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 4-4 v Essex 266

Gonna need to start looking up record low totals.

This one's rustled up in the kitchen as Sir Alastair Cook takes a catch at slip off Sam Cook to dismiss Mark Stoneman for another duck!

That's four ducks for Middlesex's opening four batters. The only runs the hosts have scored have been from no-balls.

Hundred up for Pearspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321, Worcestershire 102-2

Worcestershire go past three figures at Derby but for the loss of a second wicket.

Azhar Ali has gone for 23, a second wicket for Sam Conners.

Jake Libby, on 40, has now been joined by England Lions man Jack Haynes.

  10. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 101-1 v Surrey 442

Josh Bohannon edges/guides one down to a vacant third to bring up the 50 partnership for the second wicket.

At the other end. Keaton Jennings is more convincing as he sends one to the ropes off Cameron Steel.

  11. wicket

WICKET - Denly lbw b Tremain 0published at 14:49 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 90-3 v Northants 117

Joe Denly did not accompany Zak Crawley for long.

Two wickets in three balls for Chris Tremain as he picks off the former England batter lbw.

Northants giving themselves a glimmer of hope in this one but still a lot of work to do.

  12. Abbas earning the applausepublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231-9 v Nottinghamshire 185

Mo Abbas has not yet troubled the scorers, but each block is greeted with a warm round of applause from the home crowd.

He has survived eight balls and James Fuller has added ten to the total.

  13. wicket

    WICKET - Eskinazi c Rossington b Porter 0published at 14:45 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 2-3 v Essex 266

    What are Middlesex doing?

In fairness, Jamie Porter's first couple of wickets were just cracking deliveries but Stevie Eskinazi doesn't have that excuse.

It's a harmless one going down leg side but Eskinazi decides to have a nibble at it for some reason and just helps it on into the gloves of Adam Rossington.

The hosts in a right hole here. Amazing figures of 3-2 off 1.4 overs for Porter. Three wickets in 10 balls. Yowser.

  14. wicket

    WICKET - Bell-Drummond c Cobb b Tremain 27published at 14:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 90-2 v Northants 117

Northants will feel justice is done.

A couple of balls after that lbw close call, Daniel Bell-Drummond hooks Chris Tremain straight into the hands of Josh Cobb.

Zak Crawley (32no) is joined by Joe Denly at the crease.

  15. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 90-1 v Northants 117

Big appeal from Northants' Chris Tremain as one gets through the defences of Daniel Bell-Drummond but it gets no love from the umpire.

That's one that would have definitely been reviewed if the option was available.

  16. Steel timepublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 85-1 v Surrey 442

After 24 overs of seam, Surrey captain Rory Burns has turned to spin.

Cameron Steel is thrown the ball for some leg breaks, after his batting heroics of yesterday and this morning.

  17. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 224-9 v Nottinghamshire 185

With well-known rabbit Mohammad Abbas for company, James Fuller must surely be looking to go big here.

They still need 26 runs to eke out a batting point.

  18. wicket

    WICKET - Malan b Porter 0published at 14:34 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 2-2 v Essex 266

    Madness.

Sublime bit of turn from Jamie Porter and he clean bowls Pieter Malan for his second wicket in the opening three balls of the Middlesex innings.

Goodness me. What have the hosts got in response to this early onslaught?

  19. wicket

WICKET - Robson lbw b Porter 0published at 14:31 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 0-1 v Essex 266

    First ball of the innings!

And it's a beauty from Jamie Porter.

Full and straight, Sam Robson cannot make contact and he's given out for a golden luck after it hits his pads.

What a start for Essex. Wickets falling left right and centre in the past couple of hours at Lord's.

  20. wicket

WICKET Abbott c Moores b Stone 2published at 14:28 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 221-9 v Nottinghamshire 185

Kyle Abbott doesn't hang around too long.

He feathers one through to the wicketkeeper and that is a third wicket for Olly Stone.
