Sir Ron: Death, Taxes and Middlesex batters collapsing in a heap.

  4. 100 runs

for Glamorgan's Carlsonpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Glamorgan 246-4 v Gloucestershire 165

Cracking century from Kiran Carlson. It's come off just 129 balls with 12 fours and a six.

His 160 stand with Eddie Byrom, who fell on 81, has helped Glamorgan establish firm control over Gloucestershire.

But Carlson departs a few balls later, out lbw to Oliver Price for a fine 106.

  5. Notts aheadpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 47-0

Ben Duckett crashes one to the cover boundary and then a single helps to put Notts into the lead.

Hampshire's bowling has struggled so far in this innings.

  6. wicket

    WICKET - Bartlett c Yates b Barnard 13published at 15:44 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

  7. wicket

    WICKET - Cox c McManus b White 5published at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 143-5 v Northants 117

Poor old Zak Crawley is having more partners than boundaries today.

Jordan Cox is the latest one to leave him hanging, caught behind to become Jack White's second victim in three deliveries from the Northants bowler.

Sam Billings comes in to keep Crawley company. The England opener is unbeaten on 54.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Patel c & b Thompson 28published at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 67-3

Jordan Thompson has Leicestershire opener Rishi Patel caught and bowled - and that big Yorkshire total now looks even further away.

New man in to join South African Colin Ackermann is Aussie debutant Peter Handscomb.

  9. Excellent intentpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 41-0

Ben Duckett and Haseeb Hameed are making very short work of this deficit.

Only eight overs gone and seven fours with the run-rate over five.

This is exactly the right way to go about things from this pair.

  10. wicket

WICKET Croft c Roach b Abbott 11published at 15:33 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 129-3 v Surrey 442

The afternoon is not such a glorious one for Steven Croft!

He falls into a trap set by Sean Abbott as he takes on a short ball and simply guides into the hands of Kemar Roach at deep fine leg.

Lancashire are now in a spot of bother, trailing by 313.

  11. wicket

WICKET - Leaning lbw b White 26published at 15:33 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 137-4 v Northants 117

Fair to say that Jack Leaning did not capitalise on that let-off.

The very next ball he's trapped lbw by Jack White as Northants continue to battle to find a way back into this match.

  12. Let-off for Leaningpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 137-3 v Northants 117

Shortly after Zak Crawley passes 50, there's a lucky moment for partner Jack Leaning who gets a top edge from Jack White but the ball somehow evades the stumps.

  13. 50 runs

for Zak Crawleypublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 132-3 v Northants 117

A very steady half-century from England and Kent opener Zak Crawley at Canterbury.

It took him 118 balls and there's only been six boundaries - plenty of singles and twos. Very sensible, old-school batting.

Kent are already ahead of Northants' first-innings total with seven wickets in hand.

    A glorious sight!

  15. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 122-2 v Surrey 442

Keaton Jennings nudges a single off Kemar Roach to bring up his half century.

Jennings has taken 98 deliveries and hit eight fours, and it's a good start to his dual role as captain and opening batter.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Holden c Harmer b Porter 6published at 15:23 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 21-5 v Essex 266

Heck of a low catch at slip from Simon Harmer and Middlesex's misery continues.

It would have been easy to be put off by Dan Lawrence diving in front of him but Harmer keeps his eyes on the ball to haul it in.

Max Holden goes for six, Jamie Porter's fourth victim in a quite ridiculous opening spell of 4-7 from 5.4 overs.

We had a game on Anglesey a few years ago and slumped to 0-5 before setting them about 45 to win. They got within three runs before we took their last five wickets for zero, absolutely ridiculous game.

    Ant

Middlesex will be glad to hear any stories of great escapes at the moment the way things are going...

  20. wicket

    WICKET - Hill c Lyth b Coad 7published at 15:17 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Leicestershire 51-2 v Yorkshire

Leicestershire lose their second wicket as Yorkshire pile on the pressure after piling up 517 in their first innings.

Like the Tykes, the Foxes have gone hard at it, plundering runs at five an over.

But skipper Lewis Hill is undone by Ben Coad's extra bounce and edges to the safe hands of Adam Lyth at slip.
