  1. ouch!

Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 197-5 v Northants 117

Bit of a delay at Canterbury as Josh Cobb appears to have injured his shoulder, perhaps dislocating it, in attempting to stop a Zak Crawley shot reaching the boundary.

  2. wicket

WICKET - Rew b Hasan Ali 6published at 16:54 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Somerset 135-6 v Warwickshire

Somseset lose a wicket straight after tea as James Rew is bowled by Hasan Ali.

They might be missing the injured Liam Norwell, but Warwickshire are really getting on top here.

  3. wicket

WICKET Duckett lbw b Abbott 51published at 16:52 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 81-2

    Big wicket!

Kyle Abbott removes Ben Duckett to the relief of all Hampshire followers.

Coming round the wicket, the angle may have been against the bowler, but he gets the benefit of the doubt.

  4. 100 runs

for Cheteshwar Pujarapublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Sussex 224-5 v Durham 376

Cheteshwar Pujara hits three fours in an over off Brydon Carse to bring up his first century of the summer off 133 balls after five last year.

Imagine him in partnership with Steve Smith!

  5. Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 170-4 v Surrey 442

George Bell is the new batter for Lancashire.

There is a lot of responsibility on the 20-year-old wicketkeeper, coming in at six.

The pitch looks a good one, but there is plenty of scoreboard pressure.

  6. 50 runs

for Ben Duckettpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 79-1

    Excellent stuff from Ben Duckett.

Only 54 balls needed to bring up this half century and seven fours along the way.

Positive, but not reckless, and if he sticks around, Notts will end the day in a very good place.

  7. wicket

WICKET Vilas b Worrall 12published at 16:38 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 159-4 v Surrey 442

Lancashire definitely did not need this!

Dane Vilas is furious with himself as he goes to pull a short ball from Dan Worrall and gets a toe end of the bat and plays on.

A good reward for Worrall, who was unlucky earlier. That's cricket - your good stuff gets nothing and an average ball strikes gold!

  8. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 159-3 v Surrey 442

A quiet resumption after tea with four runs off the first couple of overs.

Lancashire really need a big partnership to eat into that big Surrey lead.

  10. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 191-5 v Northants 117

A solid session for Kent who did lose four wickets but have grown their lead to 74.

Zak Crawley has been their mainstay with an excellently-compiled 86 and the hosts look set to amass a very healthy first-innings advantage.

  11. Tea at Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 75-1

The Nottinghamshire fightback is well and truly on as we reach tea.

It’s tea time here at a sunny Emirates Old Trafford. Three wickets have fallen for Lancashire so far as they chase down Surrey’s 442.

Skipper Keaton Jennings and Dane Vilas are at the crease, it’s a crucial partnership here as both batters have a wealth of experience and if they can build a solid score between them, the momentum will shift into Lancashire’s favour.

Cameron Steel has been the stand out player so far for me. He was fantastic yesterday adding 141 with the bat for Surrey and the leg-spinner has been great with the ball today picking up the wicket of Josh Bohannon to break the partnership with Jennings worth 65.

  13. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Somerset 128-5 (53 overs) v Warwickshire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The first teatime of the summer at Taunton - but it is Warwickshire who will take it with the greater appetite.

New season, new players, same old Somerset batting frailties. Cameron Bancroft, George Bartlett and Tom Kohler-Cadmore all played well and built platforms, only then to get out to a loose shot, all caught at first slip by Rob Yates.

The Warwickshire seamers kept a tight line, mostly outside off stump, looking to lure the batters into indiscretion, and that was enough to make it very definitely their afternoon.

  14. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Glamorgan 261-5 v Gloucestershire 165

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan’s Kiran Carlson led the way as his side moved towards a three-figure lead over the visitors by tea.

Eddie Byrom gave him unfussy support in a stand of 160 before cutting Marchant de Lange to slip for 81.

Carlson rode his luck with chances on 39 and 77, before reaching his first century since July 2021 off 128 balls with a series of flourishing drives.

He eventually fell lbw to Ollie Price for 106 but Billy Root looked set on 33 not out at the interval, although South Africa’s Colin Ingram has not yet appeared because of a neck spasm.

Gloucestershire still need a major effort from their bowlers to avoid an insuperable first-innings deficit, although the pitch could well flatten out further.

  15. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 53-5 v Essex 266

Well, what an afternoon session that was.

Middlesex would have been pretty pleased with themselves after finishing Essex's innings off for 266 after lunch, considering the visitors had been 199-3 at one stage.

But then the hosts' top order collapsed, their opening four batters all falling for ducks as Jamie Porter (4-12) ran riot.

John Simpson (17no) and Ryan Higgins (22no) have led a rebuild to the best of their ability from 4-4 to 53-5 but Middlesex have dug themselves a right hole to get out of here.

  16. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 157-3 v Surrey

Time for a cuppa at Old Trafford.

Lancashire have scored plenty of runs this afternoon, but those three wickets probably has Surrey on top.

Keaton Jennings is unbeaten on 71 and is central to this innings.

  17. Tea at Derbypublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321, Worcestershire 152-4 (55 overs)

Worcestershire have lost a further wicket in the afternoon session, debutant Adam Hose, as they go to tea on 152-4.

They stil trail by 169, but Jack Haynes has made a decent start on 22.

  18. 'Pujara looks imperious'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Sussex 189-4 v Durham 376

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

There’s been an inevitability since Cheteshwar Pujara arrived at the crease that he would score a hundred today.

He has looked imperious, with wonderful timing and shots all round the wicket, and he’s made batting look ridiculously easy for a good crowd bathing in the sunshine at Hove

He has also rescued Sussex from a perilous position of 91-4 and together with Oli Carter who has taken his leave from Pujara, they have added 98 for the fifth wicket.

  19. Teatime in Leedspublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 98-3 (20 overs)

Tea is taken in Leeds with Leicestershire still 419 runs adrift.

A key session coming up in this game.

  20. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 155-3 v Surrey 442

Sean Abbott is into his 11th over and with 2-27 and a catch to go with his 42, the Australia all-rounder is doing a fine job for his team.

There was a comedy moment though a few minutes ago when fielding at extra cover as he allowed the ball to go through his legs.

Classic club cricket from an international player!
