  1. wicket

    WICKET - Kohler-Cadmore c Hain b Rushworth 15published at 14:10 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Somerset 284 & 25-3, Warwickshire 392

A third Warwickshire wicket. Another Somerset wobble.

New boy Chris Rushworth, never one to be outdone in these sort of scenarios, gets in on the act to remove Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

The former Worcestershire and Yorkshire man was trying to get his bat out of the way but the ball still found his edge and he was taken by Sam Hain at second slip.

Somerset still needing another 84 to get back into credit as George Bartlett comes in to join Tom Lammonby.

Bartlett has a big innings ahead of him as it could be his place on the line if skipper Tom Abell is fit for Somerset's next game at Trent Bridge, starting on Thursday.

  2. wicket

WICKET Hill c Hope b Bess 3published at 14:04 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 286-8, Leicestershire 415 & 88-2

Two for Yorkshire, two for Dom Bess.

Lewis Hill looks to cut, but it's not wide enough, and he feathers through to Shai Hope behind the stumps.

Tidy gloves from the West Indian keeper. Colin Ackermann joins Rishi Patel in the middle.

  3. wicket

WICKET Denly b Tremain 5published at 14:01 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Kent 222 & 61-3 v Northamptonshire 117 & 331 (Kent require 166 to win)

Chris Tremain on target again to dismiss Joe Denly!

He bowled out one England man this morning in Zak Crawley and now has another with a ball that just cuts back enough to touch the tip of off.

There was a slightly delayed reaction as it was a minimal touch - but enough to spell the end of Denly's watchful five runs from 32 balls.

An early breakthrough in the afternoon session cranks the tension up another notch.

  4. wicket

WICKET Budinger c Thompson b Bess 41published at 13:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 286-8, Leicestershire 415 & 80-1

An early strike for Yorkshire after lunch!

Dom Bess tosses one up, Sol Budinger takes the bait, but can only skew his shot to Jordan Thompson at midwicket.

Lewis Hill is the new batter.

  5. wicket

    WICKET - Bancroft lbw b Hannon-Dalbypublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Somerset 284 & 2-2, Warwickshire 392

    Oh Lawks! Another one gone!!!

Cameron Bancroft does not look too enamoured with the decision but he's got to go.

Leg before wicket to Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

New man is Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who then survives a big 'caught behind' shout from OHD.

Already, comparisons are being made with last season's final afternoon drama.

Liam Norwell, nine-wicket hero of that five-run win over Hampshire, is injured again and not playing in this one - but his legend lives on!

And other Warwickshire fast bowlers are available.

  6. How important will those points prove come September?published at 13:39 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Somerset 284 & 1-1, Warwickshire 392

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

At the start of the 110th over, Warwickshire needed nine runs for a fourth batting point, and Somerset needed one wicket for a third bowling point.

Up stepped Lewis Gregory to bowl it, a captain taking responsibility as a good captain should - and two wickets were the result as Warwickshire were bowled out.

Who knows how important those points won and lost may prove to be come the end of the season?

But Warwickshire had the last laugh of the morning session when Oliver Hannon-Dalby picked up the wicket of Sean Dickson, raising the spectre of the sort of Somerset batting collapse needed to have any chance of forcing victory.

    Kent 222 & 56-2 v Northamptonshire 117 & 331 (Kent require 171 to win)

Another finely poised game set up very nicely for the afternoon.

Northants added 31 runs to their overnight total but were dismissed quickly by Kent.

But it was a horror start for the hosts' second innings as England opener Zak Crawley fell for three from only eight balls, and Daniel Bell-Drummond saw his stumps rattled.

    Who will seize the advantage?

  9. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 286-8, Leicestershire 415 & 78-0

It was a fairly mad first hour in Leeds, as the home side set about scoring quick runs, scoring 66 for the loss of four wickets this morning.

They eventually declared with a lead of 388, but Leicestershire have set about their work with aplomb since then.

Rishi Patel and Sol Budinger have shared an unbeaten 78 for the first wicket, and will look to go big this afternoon.

  10. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Middlesex 170 & 162-7 v Essex 266 & 211 (Middlesex need 146 runs to win)

A session of two halves as Essex hit the ground running, carrying on their fine bowling form of last night by taking two early scalps.

At that stage it looked like the game would end before the lunch interval but credit to Middlesex who have held their nerve to keep the game in the balance.

The partnership of Ryan Higgins and Luke Hollman has made all the difference, as they have added almost 70 runs together and brought the total needed below 150.

An interesting afternoon awaits if they can stay in for much longer.

  11. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Lancs 291 & 114-2 v Surrey 442 & 292-6/d

Lancashire have lost both their openers in the opening session of the final day of this opening round of County Championship fixtures, but Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft have steadied the ship somewhat, with Bohannon in particular playing some lovely shots.

Surrey need eight more wickets, the hosts need an unlikely 330 runs.

    Somerset 284 & 1-1, Warwickshire 392

Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Gloucestershire 165 & 481-7 (Glos lead by 242 runs)

Another good session for the visitors who have added 108 runs to their overnight total to stretch their lead out to almost 250.

They lost a couple of wickets in Jack Taylor and Zafar Gohar, but Graeme van Buuren has made a fine 77.

He also has a decision to make soon on how big he wants that lead to be before declaring and sending Glamorgan in to bat.

  14. wicket

    WICKET - Pollock c Guest b Aitchison 13published at 13:03 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321 & 343, Worcestershire 473 & 17-1

    Early wicket for Derbyshire.

Ed Pollock plunders three fours in eight balls - and then he is out off the fourth.

And that is the cue for lunch . . .

  15. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Lancs 291 & 108-2 v Surrey 442 & 292-6/d

Hints of reverse swing at Old Trafford, and Dan Worrall finds Josh Bohannon's inside edge.

Thankfully for the Lancashire man, it misses the stumps and goes down to fine leg for four.

That's much better though - a textbook cover drive to finish the over.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Dickson c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 0published at 12:55 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Somerset 284 & 0-1, Warwickshire 392

    Hang on . . .

An early wicket for Warwickshire. Surely not?

The irrepressible Oliver Hannon-Dalby finds the edge to bag Sean Dickson cheaply for the second time in the match - and give Rob Yates his fifth slip catch.

Cameron Bancroft comes in to join a concerned Tom Lammonby.

Somerset urgenty need the sanctuary of the lunch interval.

  17. wicket

    WICKET Bell-Drummond b Berg 32published at 12:46 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Kent 222 & 44-2 v Northamptonshire 117 & 331 (Kent require 183 to win)

A second wicket for Northants as Gareth Berg, fresh from a half-century with the bat, bowls Daniel Bell-Drummond.

Berg's ball skids through and smashes into the top of Bell-Drummond's off-stump.

Another game finely poised at this stage.

  18. wicket

DERBYSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 343published at 12:43 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321 & 343, Worcestershire 473

Josh Tongue has taken the last three Derbyshire wickets after Joe Leach's key removal of Zak Chappell for 457 - Ben Aitchison, Sam Conners and Suranga Lakmal - and that has set Worcestershire 192 to win.

  19. Postpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517 & 286-8, Leicestershire 415 & 54-0

Leicestershire have started excellently in their second innings after Yorkshire's earlier declaration.

They are 54-0 off 11 overs, with Sol Budinger on 30 and Rishi Patel on 22.

  20. Exciting run-chase on the cards?published at 12:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Glamorgan 404 v Gloucestershire 165 & 463-6

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Gloucestershire captain Graeme van Buuren will probably, and surprisingly, have options at lunchtime on the final day after his side were completely outplayed in the first innings.

But a combination of much-improved batting, wayward bowling and a still-placid pitch have helped the Shire to build a useful lead.

Jack Taylor was caught behind off Harry Podmore for a punchy 38 but Glamorgan have been unable to back up Timm van der Gugten on a consistent basis, as van Buuren scored fluently.

Exciting run-chase or bore draw? Both still highly possible.
