  1. Anderson wins duelpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Essex 17-2 v Lancs 207

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

It was a good duel while it lasted but James Anderson traps Alastair Cook lbw.

It came just a few moments after the former England captain had driven his friend gloriously through the covers.

I wonder how many times they’ll talk about that over a beer in the years to come?

    Cook lbw b Anderson 16 (Essex 17-2 v Lancs 207)

James Anderson wins the battle of the England greats!

He comes around the wicket to Alastair Cook, nips one back and a huge appeal convinces the umpire to raise the finger.

Cook looks to the skies in frustration before dragging himself from the crease.

  3. 'Bedingham the star attraction'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Durham 281-4 v Worcestershire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There's a huge black cloud sitting over Chester-le-Street at the moment so I am not sure how much more cricket we will see today. But they are still out there at the moment and the lights are on the first time.

Of the 72 overs so far, David Bedingham has been the star attraction, notching his first century of the season and in doing so passing 2,000 first-class runs for the club as well.

It is his 14th century and sixth for Durham.

There was a scare when he was on 60. He appeared to be dropped by Gareth Roderick, who was standing up to Joe Leach at the time. The ball bounced off his finger ends.

Bedingham has put on 86 so far with Graham Clark. Clark has 38. Earlier Alex Lees made 70, his second half-century of the season.

  4. 50 runs

for Barkerpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Surrey v Hampshire 236-7

A popular milestone. Keith Barker brings up his 25th first-class half-century from 132 balls with his sixth four.

Ok, the ball doesn't sound the same off his bat at some of his team-mates, but he's played some fine shots and deserves the warm applause the crowd are affording him.

He has also helped get his side right back into this match, of course.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Broad c Rew b Gregory 0 (Notts 230-9 v Somerset)

No batting highlights from Stuart Broad today, as he feathers his second ball faced through to James Rew behind the stumps.

Six wickets now for Lewis Gregory!

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Warwickshire 266-3 v Kent

The players race off with the skies darkening and rain starting to fall.

It might just be a shower. There have been plenty around today. Time for Kent to ponder how they are going to stem the flow of runs and limit the damage.

  7. 100 runs

for David Bedinghampublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Durham 280-4 v Worcestershire

Durham batter David Bedingham goes to his 14th first-class century and it's come quickly - off 113 balls with 10 fours and a six.

The hosts are in control against Worcestershire at Chester-le-Street.

In the other game going on in Division Two, Leicestershire are 166-2 against Derbyshire with Lewis Hill and Colin Ackermann both well set and approaching fifties.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Moores lbw b Gregory 32 (Notts 230-8 v Somerset)

Bang in front - that's out!

Stuart Broad jogs out to the middle. Strap in folks...

  9. Postpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Surrey v Hampshire 223-7

Keith Barker moves onto 44 with a violent swipe off Sean Abbott, threatening a flock of pigeons on the way to the deep cover boundary.

Will he put the hammer down in pursuit of a bonus point? Will he fancy a bowl this evening?

James Fuller is in at the other end and also cracks Abbott to the ropes. Think that might be your answer.

  10. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Northants 69-2 v Middlesex 149

Luke Procter whips Toby Roland-Jones away for four through the leg-side, before a wayward throw evades John Simpson and goes away for four overthrows.

Roland-Jones looks pretty angry, and his mood won't improve upon seeing four more fly away off the bat of Procter, punching through cover off the back foot.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Brown lbw b Lawes 95 (Surrey v Hampshire 210-7)

Agony for Ben Brown. He is trapped by Tom Lawes' inswinger five runs short of a century.

Brown came in with wickets tumbling, at 39-4, with Surrey's potent attack making the most of perfect conditions.

He stood firm, dug-in, built partnerships, showed some class in some expansive shots, and rode his luck, being dropped on the deep square leg boundary after an ill-judged hook.

He deserved a celebration but won't get one. What a knock though.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Patterson-White lbw b Gregory 7 (Notts 217-7 v Somerset)

Lewis Gregory picks up his fourth!

Liam Patterson-White shuffles across his stumps, but can't get any bat on a delivery that was honing in on the stumps.

Brett Hutton joins Tom Moores with the hosts in a bit of bother.

  13. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Warwickshire 248-3 v Kent

Dan Mousley has watched a flurry of boundaries from the balcony today and has clearly been taking notes.

He rattles Joey Evison to the ropes for four and two balls later dances down the pitch to launch Evison over the boundary for the hosts' second six of the innings.

  14. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Surrey v Hampshire 203-6

Keith Barker has had an eventful afternoon, to say the least, but he shows his class to bring up Hampshire's 200 with a fine stroke to the ropes.

He's on 36 from 113 deliveries. The partnership with Ben Brown is up to 91.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Yates c Leaning b Denly 128 (Warwickshire 235-3 v Kent)

His 217 ball stay is at an end and Kent finally have a breakthrough.

Rob Yates launches Joe Denly down the ground but doesn't hit it as cleanly as his previous six and is caught to break the 166-run third-wicket stand.

19 fours and a six... welcome to the 2023 season Rob Yates.

Dan Mousley joins Sam Hain in the middle. He's probably had his pads on for the best part of four hours.

    Whiteman lbw b Higgins 13 (Northants 31-2 v Middlesex 149)

Ryan Higgins finds a bit of something off the pitch, beats the forward prod of Sam Whiteman, and the umpire's finger shoots up.

  18. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Surrey v Hampshire 185-6

Keith Barker takes advantage of a particularly short boundary on one side of the Oval to club Kemar Roach away for four. He's onto 28 from 103 deliveries. Great contribution already.

Roach so nearly gets his revenge a couple of deliveries later though with a ripsnorter which swung past the outside edge leaving Barker prodding at thin air.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Browne c Wells b Anderson 0 (Essex 0-1 v Lancs 207)

James Anderson takes just three balls to take his first wicket of the summer.

Seam and bounce, and Nick Browne can't resist a little nibble - it finds the outside edge and Luke Wells gobbles it up at first slip.

    He's laughably good is Anderson.

  20. 'Somerset's best session of the season'published at 16:35 British Summer Time 13 April 2023

    Notts 192-6 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's best session of the season so far, with three wickets for Lewis Gregory including two in two balls, and two for a reinvigorated Peter Siddle, as Notts collapsed from 164-1 to 186-6.

The wicket seems to have more life about it than earlier in the day. Honours now just about even.
