    Kent v Essex 220-1

Kent call up Joey Evison to replace Wes Agar, but he leaks two fours to Nick Browne at the start and finish of his over.

Browne advances to 76 and he will be eager to match the three-figure score of partner - and captain - Tom Westley.

  2. Postpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Middlesex v Notts 353-8

A Duckett slog sweep off Higgins sees the ball squirt away off a top edge to third man for two - and that's batting point number three.

A single off the next ball and Broad is off the mark with a confident drive for two.

  3. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 154-1

We had looked set for our third wicketless session of this match until Luke Wells was dismissed with what turned into the last ball before tea.

Still he and Keaton Jennings have provided a terrific platform for Lancashire heading into the final session.

  4. Double let-off for Beanpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Sussex 361 v Yorkshire 52-1 - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A wicket on the stroke of tea has halted a very positive response from Yorkshire to the Sussex total of 361

Skipper Adam Lyth was the man out, offering no shot to Nathan McAndrew and ending an opening partnership of 52 with Finlay Bean

Bean himself was dropped twice by Ali Orr in successive overs off the bowling of Ollie Robinson.

The first was a routine chance at leg slip, the second a fine effort diving full length but he was unable to take the catch in his right hand.

  5. wicket

WICKET Wells c Bancroft b Brooks 82published at 16:04 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 154-1

A breakthrough right before tea for Somerset!

Jack Brooks delivers an innocuous leg-stump half-volley which Luke Wells is probably expecting to hit for four.

Instead, he is caught well, low down at square leg by Cameron Bancroft for what is a real bonus wicket for the home team.

Wells will be so disappointed as a century looked his for the taking.

  6. 100 runs

for Tom Westleypublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Kent v Essex 210-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

A 25th first class century for Tom Westley, who has shown the Kent attack the full range of his repertoire of shots.

At no stage has he looked in any trouble on what is clearly a good surface here at Canterbury.

With the amount of time lost, Essex have looked to score quickly and are being helped by some friendly bowling from the home side with only Wes Agar looking likely to cause discomfort.

  7. wicket

WICKET Hutton b Bamber 0published at 16:02 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Middlesex v Notts 343-8

Brett Hutton is gone for a five-ball duck.

He's back in his crease as the ball squeezes through bat and pad, clipping the top of leg stump.

Time for the Night Hawk - AKA Stuart Broad.

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 152-0

Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings love batting together and they have shown why in this afternoon session.

Jennings brings up the 150 partnership with a lovely front-foot pull off Jack Brooks for another boundary.

  10. Tea at Hovepublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Sussex 361 v Yorks 52-1

That Lyth dismissal takes us to the tea interval.

Advantage Yorkshire perhaps, but Sussex have a bit of momentum behind them going into the final session of day two.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Lyth lbw b McAndrew 24 (Sussex 361 v Yorks 52-1)

A shout for LBW against Finlay Bean off Hudson-Prentice, but that's not out.

Erm, that was threatening the box rather than the pads.

A McAndrew no ball is followed by a wicket!

Lyth shoulders arms, expecting the ball to pass over the bails.

It clips him just above the knee roll. Close call, but he's right back in the crease.

    Hants v Northants 462-7

Rob Keogh continues after the combined tea/rain delay and Ian Holland chops down to third man for the first boundary of the final session at Wantage Road.

Liam Dawson tries to sweep the final delivery but makes no contact as two leg-byes are added to fine leg.

  13. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 147-0

Keaton Jennings milks Jack Leach for a single to bring up his 50.

It's not been as spectacular as his partner, but this has been a very assured performance, taking 103 balls.

He made 96 last week at Chelmsford, so he will want to get to three figures today.

  14. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Middlesex v Notts 342-7

Ryan Higgins is back in the attack, replacing Roland-Jones.

Duckett is down the track trying to scoop the ball away but aborts. No run.

He stays back for the third ball and runs it through the off side for two.

Down the track on one knee with a paddle sweep to fine leg for four. He's in the mood.

    That's the Yorkshire 50 off 80 balls.

  17. Leach remains under attackpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 133-0

The runs continue to flow for Lancashire.

Eight runs off Jack Brooks' over and then 10 more off Jack Leach with Luke Wells hitting him for two more fours.

He really has given Leach some treatment this afternoon.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Patterson-White c Simpson b Bamber 10published at 15:49 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Middlesex v Notts 336-7

Notts are close to their third batting point.

Out! A soft dismissal really as the batter prods loosely outside off stump and feathers a catch to the keeper.

Brett Hutton will try and hang in there with Duckett.

  19. No play at Cardiffpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Glamorgan v Durham 382-6

The game at Sophia Gardens becomes the second Division Two casualty of the day to be abandoned without a single ball being bowled.

Following a short brighter spell, the rain set in again, giving the umpires no choice cut to send the teams away.

Brydon Carse is 53 not out for Durham, with Liam Trevaskis 41.
