Plenty of enthralling cricket on the final day of the fifth round of Championship games, but in the end, Warwickshire were the sole winners.

Chris Rushworth took 7-38 - and 10 in the match - as they defeated Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

Ollie Robinson did even better with seven in each innings for Sussex as they drew with Worcestershire, but Jonny Bairstow went for a duck for Yorkshire against Glamorgan as Adam Lyth hit 174.

There was confusion right at the end when 54 off three overs was changed to 54 off one, meaning Derbyshire had to settle for a draw with Leicestershire.

We'll be back on Thursday for round six. Join us then.

  2. How things standpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    After five rounds of matches

Surrey and Warwickshire, champions in the last two seasons, are locked together on 60 points at the top of Division One, with Essex in third place, 10 points behind.

The draw at Taunton between Somerset and Northamptonshire means Kent will go into their home game with Hampshire on Thursday at the bottom of Division One.

Durham, who didn't play this week, have an 11-point lead over Sussex and Leicestershire - who both have 52 from four games - at the top of Division Two.

    Breaking

Jordan Thompson gets in behind it, and defends solidly into the off-side.

Yorkshire cling on to earn a draw - what a game!

Adam Lyth made a magnificent 174, while George Hill and Thompson also passed the 50 mark.

From a Glamorgan perspective, they may look back on this game and think they could have declared earlier yesterday.

Timm van der Gugten did his best to bowl his side to victory with 4-72, but the Welsh side come up just short.

Play and a miss from Jordan Thompson.

Past the outside edge again! Neser was so close there - hands on heads in the slip cordon.

    Two balls to survive...

This one is further down the leg side, and flies away to the boundary.

Four balls remaining in the game.

  8. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

The first ball of the over is harmlessly down the leg side, and left well alone by Jordan Thompson.

  9. DERBYSHIRE DRAW WITH LEICESTERSHIREpublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 7 May 2023
    Breaking

    Derbyshire 350-7 dec & 0-0 v Leicestershire 122 & 281

Colin Ackermann sprints through an over to Haider Ali to try and improve Leicestershire's over rate.

"What an unfortunate end to what has been a brilliant final day," says BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae.

So Leicestershire remain unbeaten and Derbyshire remain winless after the Foxes bat through almost the entire final day.

Rishi Patel, Lewis Hill and Peter Handscomb all made half-centures and Chris Wright was left 49 not out when their last wicket fell.

    Derbyshire 350-7 dec & 0-0 v Leics 122 & 281

Mickey Arthur is out on the pitch to speak to the umpires.

It looks like the between innings reduction hasn't been taken into account.

"Absolutely farcical," says BBC Radio Derby's Dave Fletcher.

It may be that Derbyshire will only have a single over, so no chance of winning.

  11. wicket

WICKET Edwards b Van der Gugten 13published at 18:45 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 408-9 - target 492

There are two types of leave; this one is in the bad category.

Mickey Edwards shoulders arms to the final delivery of Timm van der Gugten's over, the penultimate one of the day, and hears that horrible sound that haunts batters around the world.

He drags himself from the crease with Glamorgan celebrating wildly.

Jordan Thompson will face Michael Neser in the final over of this game - one wicket required for victory.

  12. ESSEX DRAW WITH SURREYpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 7 May 2023
    Breaking

    Essex 314 & 198 v Surrey 240 & 153-7

That's it, then - handshakes all round after four deliveries from Sam Cook, with Jamie Smith keeping out one that stayed low to finish unbeaten on 39.

Jordan Clark was 13 not out and their unbroken stand of 25 proved enough to maintain Surrey's undefeated start to the season.

  13. Postpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 198 v Surrey 240 & 152-7

Simon Harmer's final ball of the game turns, but Jamie Smith keeps it out. One over left in the match.

  14. 50 runs

for Jordan Thompsonpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 400-8 - target 492

Yorkshire's all-rounder squirts a drive through the off-side to bring up his half-century from exactly 50 balls.

He's stood up when required this afternoon, has Thompson.

  15. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 198 v Surrey 240 & 152-7

Sam Cook into the attack for Essex and Jordan Clark pulls the first one for four.

A rare full toss from Cook is then eased down to third man by Clark for another boundary as he moves into double figures.

    Two overs left.

  16. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 396-8 - target 492

Forget the target, the only thing that matters is that there are three overs left, either for Yorkshire to survive, or for Glamorgan to take the last two wickets.

  17. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DRAW WITH LANCASHIREpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 7 May 2023
    Breaking

    Notts 249 & 138-9 v Lancs 214 & 329-8 dec

Incredibly dramatic finish as last man Olly Stone, who was injured yesterday, limps out to face the last four balls from Tom Hartley - plus a no-ball - and completes the task!

Somehow Notts, who were 55-6 this afternoon, scrape a draw - largely thanks to a seventh-wicket stand of 67 between Joe Clarke and Brett Hutton and Stuart Broad's impeccable unbeaten three from 50 balls.

  18. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 314 & 198 v Surrey 240 & 143-7

Just a single to Jordan Clark from the latest Doug Bracewell, but more importantly for Surrey, it's another over used up. Only four left.

    Notts 136-9 (target 295) v Lancs

Luke Fletcher thrusts his pad out to meet Tom Hartley's second delivery - and the umpire's finger is raised!

Olly Stone has to come out and defend four balls to rescue a draw for Notts...

  20. Postpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 136-8 (target 295) v Lancs

Tense maiden over from Jimmy Anderson to Stuart Broad. One whizzes past the outside edge, another keeps low and Broad digs it out in time.

There's a bouncer in there too, but Broad survives.

    Six balls left.
