Plenty of enthralling cricket on the final day of the fifth round of Championship games, but in the end, Warwickshire were the sole winners.

Chris Rushworth took 7-38 - and 10 in the match - as they defeated Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

Ollie Robinson did even better with seven in each innings for Sussex as they drew with Worcestershire, but Jonny Bairstow went for a duck for Yorkshire against Glamorgan as Adam Lyth hit 174.

There was confusion right at the end when 54 off three overs was changed to 54 off one, meaning Derbyshire had to settle for a draw with Leicestershire.

Surrey and Warwickshire, champions in the last two seasons, are locked together on 60 points at the top of Division One, with Essex in third place, 10 points behind.

The draw at Taunton between Somerset and Northamptonshire means Kent will go into their home game with Hampshire on Thursday at the bottom of Division One.

Durham, who didn't play this week, have an 11-point lead over Sussex and Leicestershire - who both have 52 from four games - at the top of Division Two.

Adam Lyth made a magnificent 174, while George Hill and Thompson also passed the 50 mark.

From a Glamorgan perspective, they may look back on this game and think they could have declared earlier yesterday.

Timm van der Gugten did his best to bowl his side to victory with 4-72, but the Welsh side come up just short.

Yorkshire's all-rounder squirts a drive through the off-side to bring up his half-century from exactly 50 balls.

He's stood up when required this afternoon, has Thompson.

Sam Cook into the attack for Essex and Jordan Clark pulls the first one for four.

A rare full toss from Cook is then eased down to third man by Clark for another boundary as he moves into double figures.

Somehow Notts, who were 55-6 this afternoon, scrape a draw - largely thanks to a seventh-wicket stand of 67 between Joe Clarke and Brett Hutton and Stuart Broad's impeccable unbeaten three from 50 balls.
