    Essex 314 & 198 v Surrey 240 & 118-6

Another over ticks by at Chelmsford as Matt Critchley sends down a maiden to Cameron Steel. There are 14 more to come, and it looks we're about to have a ball change.

Simon Harmer will continue at the other end and this is the kind of field he is employing.

    Notts 124-7 (target 295) v Lancs

Just 10 overs left at Trent Bridge for Lancashire to pick up these last three wickets and force victory.

Brett Hutton is still there on 23 not out, after almost two and a half hours, and Stuart Broad is at the other end, yet to score.

So far Broad has successfully kept out Jimmy Anderson, ducking to avoid what was meant to be a slow bouncer and ended up hitting him gently on the back.

    Derbys 350-7 dec v Leics 122 & 273-8

Time now starting to run out for Derbyshire.

Two singles from the latest Henry Brookes over and Leicestershire have 11 more to survive.

Their lead is 45 - and don't forget that we'd lose a couple of overs between innings should they be bowled out.

    Worcs 264 & 251-8 v Sussex 373

Azhar Ali finally completes his century with a boundary off Steve Smith and that's that.

The captains shake hands and it's totally down to Azhar's six hours-plus stay at the crease that Worcestershire have escaped with a draw here.

Ollie Robinson did his very best to win it for Sussex with seven wickets in each innings - and career-best match figures of 14-117.

  6. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 115-6 - target 273

It's going to be spin from both ends by Essex.

Matt Critchley replaces Jamie Porter and, unlike Simon Harmer, will be turning it away from the two right-handers.

  7. SOMERSET DRAW WITH NORTHANTSpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northants 255 & 311-8

    Handshakes at Taunton.

Sam Whiteman is the hero for Northants, finishing 130 not out, as the visitors bat through the final day.

Tom Taylor added an excellent 53 in a stubborn eighth wicket partnership that frustrated Somerset and denied them the chance of a chase.

  8. Postpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 115-6 - target 273

Another boundary for Jamie Smith off Jamie Porter, but the real threat to Surrey at the moment is coming from Simon Harmer at the other end. But he can only bowl nine more overs, with 18 left in the match.

  9. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Croft b Anderson 42published at 17:35 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 122-7 (target 295) v Lancs

It had to be Jimmy Anderson, didn't it?

Joe Clarke flicks him straight into the hands of leg slip and the partnership of 67 is finally ended.

Here comes Stuart Broad to face his Test bowling partner...

  10. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 111-6 - target 273

Another testing over from Simon Harmer, but Cameron Steel hangs on for Surrey. Another 19 overs to be bowled.

  11. dropped catch

Whiteman dropped on 129published at 17:33 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northants 255 & 310-8

Tom Abell has dropped Sam Whiteman at first slip, and with that, Somerset's hopes of victory grow ever smaller.

Jack Leach draws the edge, but it hits Abell on his right wrist and goes to ground.

  12. wicket

WICKET Handscomb c Madsen b Conners 62published at 17:33 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Derbys 350-7 dec v Leics 122 & 262-8

The new ball does the job for Derbyshire as Peter Handscomb checks a drive and Wayne Madsen shows the reactions of a man several years younger at second slip to take a sharp catch.

A good innings by Handscomb but Leicestershire are only 34 ahead as Michael Finan joins Chris Wright.

  13. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 325-6 - target 492

Jordan Thompson defends solidly into the off-side.

McIlroy can't replicate Michael Neser's achievement from Yorkshire's first innings.

He's given Glamorgan a sniff of victory though.

  14. Postpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 111-6 - target 273

Two close catchers on the leg side as Jamie Porter bounds in for a new over but Jamie Smith steers the ball past leg slip for four runs. He moves to 23 not out.

  15. wicket

WICKET Bess lbw b McIlroy 0published at 17:28 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 325-6 - target 492

Gone first ball - a king pair for Dom Bess!

Jamie McIlroy swings one back, and that is absolutely plumb. No arguments there.

    McIlroy is on a hat-trick...

  16. Postpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 119-6 (target 295) v Lancs

Lancashire are rotating their bowlers in a bid to break this seventh-wicket stand at Trent Bridge.

Luke Wells' leg-breaks have been pressed into service as well, but they still can't find a way through as they press for these last four wickets.

Is the scene set for Jimmy Anderson to return for a final burst and wrap up his side's first win of the season?

  17. wicket

WICKET Lyth lbw b McIlroy 174published at 17:26 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 325-5 - target 492

A brilliant knock comes to an end.

Jamie McIlroy gets one through Adam Lyth's defences onto his front pad, and the Yorkshire captain has to go. Might have been a touch high, but the umpire thinks that would have hit the stumps

Dom Bess joins Saud Shakeel in the middle.

  18. ouch!

Robinson pulls up injuredpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Worcs 264 & 243-8 v Sussex 373

You have to admire Ollie Robinson's tenacity - he's returned to the field for one last push but he's now pulled up in the middle of his first over back.

The bowler, who was feeling his hamstring earlier, is now limping off the field again and that surely will be it for him in this match.

Sussex - and England - will hope there are no longer-term ramifications.

  19. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Surrey 105-6 - target 273

Simon Harmer is really giving it a rip.

Cameron Steel picks up his first run to mid-wicket and is probably very relieved to do so.

There are 23 overs for Surrey to survive - scoring 7.3 an over to win the game is surely now no more than a mere statistic.

  20. Postpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Derbys 350-7 dec v Leics 122 & 255-7

This one isn't over yet as Derbyshire are approaching the new ball.

Just a single from the latest Luis Reece over and Leicestershire lead by 27.
