    Kohler-Cadmore b Mahmood 20 (Lancs v Somerset 55-4)

    You miss, I hit!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore tries to hit Saqib Mahmood out of Manchester, but misses it entirely, and loses his leg stump.

James Rew trots to the middle, and defends his first delivery solidly into the off-side.

    Surrey v Middlesex 86-1

The morning has not been without luck for Middlesex.

Both Pieter Malan and Sam Robson have played and missed outside off.

The floodlights came on and Sean Abbott darted one back at Malan that was oh-so-close to inside edge and off stump.

Dan Worrall returns and almost beats Malan's inside edge for what could have been a jolly close lbw shout.

    Northants 55-2 v Notts

Saif Zaib and Ricardo Vasconcelos have edged Northants past 50.

The scoring rate has been getting slower and slower after that bright first half hour.

Zaib is making his second appearance of the season - and promoted to number four having previously been a lower-middle order bat.

He clips a rate loose one, from Dane Paterson, to the long leg fence.

    Kent 56-4 v Hants

The wicket of Sam Billings is the last delivery bowled before the heavens open at Canterbury, and the umpires wave the covers on.

Billings will be furious that he couldn't survive that little bit longer.

    Billings lbw b Fuller 2 (Kent 56-4 v Hants)

    This one is definitely out.

James Fuller gets one to nip back at Sam Billings, and it smashes into Billings' front pad in front of middle and off.

  6. Glamorgan bowlers cause chaospublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Glamorgan v Worcs 35-6

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan’s opening bowlers, Michael Neser and Timm van der Gugten, caused chaos in the first hour after David Lloyd put Worcestershire into bat.

It looked a 50-50 call but with moisture in the pitch following recent rain, there was just enough movement to find the edges.

Taylor Cornall, a late call-up for Jake Libby (back spasm) was first to go leg-before to Van der Gugten before Ed Pollock, Jack Haynes and Azhar Ali all fell to smart slip catches.

Brett D’Oliveira, who has a double century on the ground, played across his second ball from Neser, and when Glamorgan finally changed the bowling, Adam Hose dragged James Harris’s loosener onto his stumps.

It was a far cry from the Pears’ sterling defensive effort to earn a draw against Sussex with at least a couple of careless shots to contribute to their woes.

    Lancs v Somerset 42-3

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is looking to hit Somerset out of a hole at Old Trafford.

He runs at George Balderson and wallops him down the ground for four.

Kohler-Cadmore flashes hard and picks up four more down to third, before hoiking the last ball of the over into the leg-side for two more.

He has 19 from 25 balls.

  8. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 73-1

Australian Sean Abbott, headband n'all, had sent down 29 deliveries and conceded only five runs.

But he overpitches last ball of his fifth over and Pieter Malan leans out to drive him through cover point for four.

WICKETpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Muyeye lbw b Fuller 28 (Kent 52-3 v Hants)

Tawanda Muyeye has batted very nicely this morning, driving beautifully through the offside when afforded the opportunity.

However, he misjudges a back-of-a-length delivery from James Fuller attempting a pull shot, and is given out lbw.

That looked like it would have comfortably gone over the stumps.

  10. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Glamorgan v Worcs 34-6

    Make that 34-6 now.

Glamorgan seamer James Harris has just bowled Adam Hose with his first ball.

Worcestershire need their lower order to dig them out of a hole.

  11. Division Two latestpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

Yorkshire batter Saud Shakeel has just gone off the field injured. The Pakistan international slipped while taking a run a few minutes ago and appears to have hurt his ankle.

Dawid Malan is now in with the score at 28-1 against Durham.

Worcestershire are in all sorts of bother at Glamorgan. They're 34-5 with Michael Neser (3-19) and Timm van der Gugten (2-15) doing the damage with the ball.

The games at Leicestershire and Derbyshire are still delayed and the prospects aren't looking great.

    Surrey v Middlesex 64-1

A slight moment of fortune for Pieter Malan as he slashes at Jordan Clark and a wild edge flies where gully might have been.

But the 50 partnership comes up with Sam Robson and Middlesex going well having been sent in.

  13. Yorkshire under pressurepublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Yorkshire 27-1 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Yorkshire chose to bat at Chester-le-Street but were soon a man down after Adam Lyth went for a 10-ball duck. He cut a ball from Matty Potts to point and Graham Clark took a cracking diving catch.

That came towards the end of the second over. Potts soon had new Yorkshire skipper Shan Masood in a spot of bother as well. A bouncer struck him on the helmet and looped all the way to the slip cordon when he was on 12, in the 10th over.

After a check from the physio - and a helmet change - play eventually resumed after a lengthy delay.

It's the first County Championship meeting between these two since September 2016.

Durham have given debuts today to Netherlands all-rounder Bas De Leede and New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel. Masood also survived a massive shout from De Leede for lbw in his second over. It looked a good shout to me but he was given not out.

It is warm but there's plenty of cloud around and the ball is doing a bit.

    Whiteman b Paterson 8 (Northants 36-2 v Notts)

But a failure for Sam Whiteman today!

Superb delivery from South African Dane Paterson.

He brings one back quite sharply from a full length, get it between bat and pad and takes out middle and off stumps.

  15. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Northants 36-1 v Notts

Tight first hour at Wantage Road with the cricket settling after a trio of early boundaries from Emilio Gay, who then fell to big Luke Fletcher.

Australian Sam Whiteman is out there with Ricardo Vasconcelos.

It was Whiteman's second-innings century at Taunton last week that saved his side.

And took him past 5,000 first-class runs.

    Durham v Yorkshire 23-1

Shan Masood has just taken a whack on the helmet from Durham and England paceman Matt Potts.

BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson reports that after a lengthy delay, check over from the physio and new helmet the Yorkshire skipper is fine to continue.

    Bartlett lbw b Williams 0 (Lancs v Somerset 12-3)

Another one falls at Old Trafford.

George Bartlett is caught on the crease, and Will Williams has his reward for a metronomic opening spell.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore joins Tom Lammonby in the middle - good luck.

  18. Early lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

Warwickshire v Essex - start delayed, wet outfield

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

There can be fewer more frustrating sights at a cricket ground than the sun shining while the players remain in the pavilion.

Admittedly the sun has had to poke its head through some dark clouds but the rain is staying away for now.

The problem is the outfield has taken a heavy battering of rain overnight and this morning at Edgbaston which will be an Ashes venue in just over a month.

The umpires have opted for an early lunch and a further inspection at 13:10 BST.

  19. 500 first-class wickets for Barkerpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 May 2023

    Kent 25-2 v Hampshire

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Two changes for Hampshire in this game following the two batting collapses against Warwickshire last week.

Felix Organ lost his place at the top of the order as he averages only eight this season. Joe Weatherley reclaims the number one slot that he occupied at the start of last season before he got injured.

Keith Barker is back in the side having recovered from fractures to both hands.

And he had an immediate impact trapping Zak Crawley lbw to claim his 500th first-class wicket.

    Surrey v Middlesex 51-1

More runs at The Oval and Middlesex have pretty quickly brought up 50.

Sam Robson takes a short wide one from Kemar Roach up and over backward point for four and then glances a length ball just outside off through gully for another boundary.
