Durham 4-0 v Glamorgan 390
Kiran Carlson probably wins the award for innings of the day, his 162 leading Glamorgan to 390 all out in their first innings against Durham.
The home side batted out the final over before the close without loss and Alex Lees will resume alongside Stanley McAlindon in the morning.
Gloucestershire 108-3 v Leicestershire
Only 36 overs are possible on day one thanks to morning and early afternoon rain in Bristol.
Leicestershire will be pleased with the three wickets they picked up in the play that was possible.
Lancashire 139-1 v Hampshire 142
It has been Lancashire's day - emphatically so. They will go into day two trailing by only three runs with nine wickets in hand.
They bowled superbly and only Keith Barker (44) made a significant contribution to Hampshire's below-par 142. Will WIlliams was the pick with 3-14 off 15 overs with Tom Bailey picking-up 3-29.
In reply George Balderson rode his luck but also showed his class to post 51 in an opening stand of 115 with Phil Salt.
In his first red-ball game in nearly a year Salt has served a reminder that he is much more than just a white-ball player.
He is unbeaten on 76 at stumps and Fletcha Middleton might lose a bit of sleep tonight after excrutiatingly dropping a simple slip catch to oust him for just four in the opening over.
Notts v Warwickshire 361-5
Sam Hain, Alex Davies and Dan Mousley have all made valuable contributions for Warwickshire to put the Bears in a handsome position at the end of day one against Nottinghamshire.
Hain was dismissed just after bringing up his third Championship hundred of the season, backed up by 93 from Davies and Mousley's 87.
Notts removed Mousley and Hain, who were both well set, with the second new ball and those couple of wickets will give the hosts a tiniest bit of hope heading into the second day's play on Monday.
Sussex 338-9 v Worcestershire
Joe Leach picked up his sixth wicket just before stumps, removing Harry Shipley for 41 but it's still been a fine fightback from Sussex.
They were 142-6 but half-centuries from Nathan McAndrew and Jack Carson led the recovery.
Kent 301 v Surrey 18-2
Kent would have been delighted to be in this position at stumps even if they hadn't been reeling at 41-5 before lunch.
Wes Agar has ousted Surrey skipper Rory Burns and nightwatchman Gus Atkinson in identical fashion and Arshdeep Singh's opening three overs were maidens - not a bad first day at the office, given he also brought up a batting bonus point off the only ball he faced.
Agar and Joey Evison posted vital half-centuries earlier but it was Jordan Cox who stole the show with 133 - having been dropped by Ben Foakes on 31 - to beat his previous highest score this season of 30.
Sean Abbott claimed 4-52 but Surrey let a commanding position slip as Kent picked up two bonus batting points having claimed three in their opening six games.
Fantastic day of Championship cricket, that, and set up perfectly for tomorrow.

Possibly a bit gung-ho from a nightwatchman but Kent won't mind.

Still very much Warwickshire's day with a couple of overs to go, but those two late dismissals of Dan Mousley (87) and Sam Hain (100) have given the score a slightly different complexion.
And if Notts can winkle one more out before the close...

Kiran Carlson's magnificent innings comes to an end as he tries to cut Craig Miles but gets a thick outside edge to the keeper.

Lyndon James finds an extra bit of pace and a little bit of seam movement away from the bat to get through Hain and disturb the off stump.

Kent are in rapture. Rory Burns has gone. He top-edges a hook off a short-ball from Wes Agar and Matt Quinn takes a fine catch coming out of the sun at long leg.
Gus Atkinson is in as a nightwatchman with two overs remaining.
Derbyshire 111 v Yorkshire 272-5
A first day of complete dominance by Yorkshire comes to a close.
After Matt Fisher took a career-best 5-30 to skittle Derbyshire for 111, half-centuries from captain Shan Masood and Dawid Malan have taken Yorkshire into a lead of 161.
Notts v Warwickshire 348-4
Sam Hain enhances his reputation even further with a third hundred in eight Championship innings so far in 2023.
He succeeds where team-mates Alex Davies and Dan Mousley failed earlier by making it through to three figures.
Kent 301 v Surrey 18-0
Rory Burns get a big stroke of luck as he almost chops onto his own stumps off Wes Agar.
A panicking Burns spins around and tries to boot the ball away and almost ends up slicing the ball into the timbers.
That would have been replayed for YEARS if he'd done so.
Burns recovers to glance Agar away to the boundary at third to bring up 12,000 first-class runs.
Essex 360-4 v Somerset
Centuries for Alastair Cook and Matt Critchley, who will be not out overnight, have put Essex in command at Chelmsford.
Somerset's bowling attack have battled on gamely but Essex have taken advantage of the favourable conditions to bat themselves into a strong position.

Three straight maidens overs from Matt Quinn. The last delivery thumped into Rory Burns' pads and prompted a big appeal but as he's bowling over the wicket to the left-hander it was always a big ask.
Four overs to come as the shadows begin to lengthen.

Dan Mousley falls narrowly short of his maiden first-class century.
He advances down the track at Dane Paterson and gets a thin edge behind to wicketkeeper Tom Moores.
Sam Hain remains there on 97.

Arshdeep Singh's first delivery as a Kent player is a bouncer which Dom Sibley ducks under.
Sibley shows the 24-year-old Indian left-armer plenty of respect as he negotiates the remainder of the maiden over. Good stuff. Warm applause from the warm crowd.

Kiran Carlson's highest score was 192 at Hove this year. He's on 150 today in Chester-le-Street and could easily beat that if he doesn't run out of partners.
He's had a bit of luck though. He was dropped on 67 and then again on 107. But he's also been happy to attack anything short, of which there's been quite a bit.
He put on 168 for the fourth wicket with Sam Northeast (60) and 91 for the fifth with Billy Root (45). It certainly looks like a good track to bat on.
Glamorgan are also the first visiting team to win a toss here and bat for more than a year.
