  1. Elsewhere in Division Two...published at 18:07 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

Derbyshire continue to chip away at Yorkshire at Queen's Park, Chesterfield, but they're facing an uphill battle to get anything out of the game having been bowled out for 111 before lunch.

Luis Reece has just removed Jonathan Tattersall to leave Yorkshire 272-5 but Dawid Malan is looking good on 76.

In the rain-interrupted game between Gloucestershire and Leicestershire at Bristol, the hosts are 77-1, while Sussex are now on top against Worcestershire having fought back from 142-6. They're 332-8 with Jack Carson unbeaten on 60.

    Essex 350-4 v Somerset

A third batting point for Essex.

Three overs of the day left to bowl at Chelmsford.

  3. 150 runs

for Kiran Carlsonpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Durham v Glamorgan 363-6

Kiran Carlson's excellent season continues as he goes past 150 at Chester-le-Street.

The 25-year-old has become the leading run-scorer in Division Two in this innings. He has 625 runs this seaon at an average of more than sixty... and possibly more to come.

  4. wicket

WICKET Balderson b Dawson 51published at 17:59 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire 115-1 v Hampshire 142

Hampshire have brought on Liam Dawson to turn his arm over at Southport. Tom Hartley had a bit of joy late in the Hampshire innings, they're desperate to break this partnership... and they have!

Dawson has bowled George Balderson, getting a lot of turn out of the rough towards the left-hander. The ball's gone through the gate and the 22-year-old's fine knock, his third half-century of the season, is over.

Josh Bohannon joins Phil Salt who is on 64.

  5. 50 runs

for George Baldersonpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire 114-0 v Hampshire 142

George Balderson has played somewhat of a supporting role to Phil Salt but he's picked up his seventh first-class fifty from 81 balls with 12 fours.

The last of those was incredibly streaky, he was trying to move his bat out of the way of a Kyle Abbott delivery but dangled an edge which clipped the ball which flashed away to the rope.

Better to be lucky than good, sometimes. Balderson is both.

Still 11 overs remaining. How Lancs would love a first-innings lead with 10 wickets in hand tonight.

  6. wicket

WICKET Cook lbw b Davey 128published at 17:55 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 341-4 v Somerset

Alastair Cook's six-hour knock ends on 128. A good ball by Josh Davey from around the wicket sneaks past the bat and thunders into the front pad.

Cook now has 74 first-class centuries and, along with Matt Critchley, he's batted his team into a commanding position towards the end of day one.

  7. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 301 v Surrey 10-0

After a tight opening Matt Quinn over, Rory Burns delicately cuts Wes Agar past point to the fence for the first boundary of the reply. The deficit is immediately under 300.

Dom Sibley survives being rapped - high - on the pads by Agar.

Only nine overs remaining as two were lost for the change of innings.

  8. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 319-3

Oh Sam Hain, that is magnificent. Into the nineties with a straight drive off Brett Hutton and it's so good that he holds the pose as well.

A single then brings up the 150 partnership with Dan Mousley, who is 75 not out.

With 11 overs of the day still to go, they both might fancy getting to tons before the day is done.

  9. 100 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire 103-0 v Hampshire 142

Six fours in 11 balls.... 13 runs off a single over from Mohammad Abbas of all people... fair to say Lancashire are having fun in the sun in Southport.

Phil Salt's strike rate is back to 100 and he's into the 60s. The deficit us under 40.

Hampshire probably want a cold lolly and a paddling pool.

  10. 100 runs

for Matt Critchleypublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 331-3 v Somerset

A first Championship century of the season for Matt Critchley and it's a richly deserved ton for the Essex batter.

He gets to three figures off 116 balls, with 16 fours and one six.

    Superb.

  11. 50 runs

for Phil Saltpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire 90-0 v Hampshire 142

Back into the red-ball team after nearly a year and back to scoring fifties.

A streaky edge over the slips runs away for his eighth four and takes Phil Salt to his 13th first-class half-century from just 58 balls. He was dropped on four, remember?

Salt's not scored a red-ball century since 2019... just going to leave that there.

  12. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire 82-0 v Hampshire 142

20 overs into the reply and Lancashire are already within 60 of the Hampshire total.

Phil Salt has 44 from 56 deliveries and George Balderson a slightly less breezy 38 from 64.

This total has featured 15 boundaries - the efficient scoring continues.

16 overs left. Will Lancashire be ahead tonight? Will Hampshire turn to spin?

  13. wicket

KENT BOWLED OUT FOR 301published at 17:34 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 301 v Surrey

Wes Agar takes a mighty swing at Dan Worrall's wide delivery but can only edge to Dom Sibley at slip to depart for 51.

That's that. Would Kent have taken 301 when they won the toss? Maybe. Would they have taken it at 41-5? You better believe it.

Jordan Cox earned the plaudits with a wonderful 133 but Joey Evison (58) and Agar provided great support down the order.

13 overs left in the day for Kent to try to fashion a breakthrough against Surrey's opening pair.

  14. 300 runs

up for Kentpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 301-9 v Surrey

Arshdeep Singh's first ball in a Kent shirt is pulled high into the leg side where a tumbling Rory Burns is just unable to hold on.

Singh and Wes Agar scamper through to pick up Kent's second batting bonus point - they began the day with three in their opening six games.

From 41-5 to 300+... good fightback.

  15. wicket

WICKET Cox c Clark b Abbott 133published at 17:29 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 299-9 v Surrey

Jordan Cox and Wes Agar had just fist-bumped after putting on 100 for the ninth wicket but Cox has chipped Sean Abbott's next ball straight to Jordan Clark at mid-on. Abbott has 4-50.

A fantastic 198-ball knock is over and the stand was three runs shy of Kent's best ever ninth-wicket partnership against Surrey.

Debutant Arshdeep Singh joins Wes Agar to try and get them to 300.

  16. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 292-3

Congratulations to the person in Row G at Trent Bridge, who makes a wonderful crowd catch to pouch a six-hit from Sam Hain.

Notts head into the drinks break wondering how on earth they will break this fourth-wicket partnership of 123 between Hain and Dan Mousley.

The new ball is due, maybe that will do the trick?

  17. Play under way at Bristolpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Division Two latest

They were planning to restart at 17:30 BST at Gloucestershire, but the outfield has dried quicker than expected (when do we ever hear that!?) and so they're already under way.

    Gloucestershire are 51-0 against Leicestershire.

Yorkshire batter Dawid Malan has just gone past fifty at Derbyshire with his side on 236-4 and leading by 125.

Sussex's lower order is really frustrating Worcestershire at Hove. They're now 280-8 having been 142-6. Nathan McAndrew went for 65 but Jack Carson and Henry Shipley have now put on 29 for the ninth wicket.

Glamorgan continue to dominate at Chester-le-Street against Durham. Kiran Carlson has 134 in their 333-4.

  18. 50 runs

for Wes Agarpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 298-8 v Surrey

Wes Agar averaged less than 13 in his first 39 first-class innings but he's just picked up his second first-class half-century in his 40th.

Bright and breezy and positive and vital to Kent's chances, the 26-year-old has hit nine fours in his stint - including a clip to square leg off Dan Worrall's first over with the new ball just now. 64 balls to get to fifty. Some effort.

  19. Postpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 309-3 v Somerset

Good to see Craig Overton back on the field and bowling for Somerset after his earlier tumble.

If you weren't with us earlier, Overton had to go off the pitch for treatment after landing awkwardly in his delivery stride.

It looked like he rocked his left ankle, but clearly the damage isn't as bad as it first appeared.

  20. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 269-3

Sam Hain brings up the 100 partnership with Dan Mousley with a superb on-drive for four and then a single out to square leg.

Warwickshire will be most pleased with their batting effort today - it's been almost the perfect start to this match.
