  1. Derbyshire five downpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Derbyshire 23-5 v Yorkshire

Yorkshire pacemen Ben Coad and Matt Fisher continue to run riot in Chesterfield.

Fisher has just removed opener Harry Came, caught behind, and Matt Lamb, fishing one to slip, in consecutive overs.

    Fisher has 3-9, Coad 2-13.

    Lancashire v Hampshire 11-1

Slow going for Hampshire at sweltering Southport. Just 11 off the opening eight overs. Joe Weatherley has all of them.

Always fun times at an out ground. The fans are packing in and, according to BBC Radio Solent commentator Kevan James, an early double gin and tonic has been spotted nearby. It's not even noon, people... come on!

    Kent 21-0 v Surrey

Ben Compton finds the ropes for the first time, pulling Dan Worrall past the despairing dive of Sean Abbott. He's used to opening with Zak Crawley of course but he is away preparing for you know what.

  4. Are Warwickshire title contenders?published at 11:33 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 22-0

Solid start from Warwickshire openers Alex Davies and Rob Yates. The Bears were 25 points behind Division One leaders Surrey heading into this match but with a game in hand.

Warwickshire fans, do you think your side might be able to overhaul Surrey and win the title? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  5. Yorkshire bowlers dominantpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Division Two latest

Yorkshire seamers Ben Coad and Matt Fisher have already run through Derbyshire's top order at Queen's Park, Chesterfield to leave them 15-3. Coad has just bowled prize batter Wayne Madsen.

Division Two leaders Durham are bowling against Glamorgan at Chester-le-Street. The visitors are 14-0.

Gloucestershire opener Chris Dent has struck five boundaries to race to 21 off 17 balls against Leicestershire with his side 26-0.

And Worcestershire have taken an early wicket at Sussex - Joe Leach got Tom Clark - the hosts are 15-1.

  6. wicket

WICKET Middleton c Salt b Williams 0published at 11:21 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 10-1

The breakthrough. Will Williams tempts Fletcha Middleton into a push forward offering nick which is gathered superbly by Phil Salt diving low to his right behind the timbers.

That's an eight-ball duck for the poor lad who has seen very little of the strike in the opening five and a half overs.

Nick Gubbins has joined Joe Weatherley in the middle.

  7. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 17-0 v Somerset

Alastair Cook gets going with three fours in one Matt Henry over.

The left-hander stands tall and punches the New Zealander in front of point for a couple of boundaries and then squirts one down to third-man.

  8. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Lancashire v Hampshire 10-0

Hampshire are into double figures after four overs but Tom Bailey thinks he's had Joe Weatherley, who has all of the runs thus far, caught behind.

Celebrappeal falls on deaf ears as the opener stands firm and the umpire is not interested either.

  9. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 14-0 v Surrey

A rare loose delivery from Dan Worrall is cut away with aplomb by Tawanda Muyeye.

Three fours for him. A single for Ben Compton from his three balls.

Glorious sunshine in the Garden of England. Kiwi international Tom Latham is in the slips against his former club on his first Surrey appearance of the summer. Kent debutant Arshdeep Singh is in the cool of the dressing room. Kent will hope he stays there all day long.

  10. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Notts v Warwickshire 4-0

Warwickshire chose to bat first under sunny skies at Trent Bridge. Alex Davies and Rob Yates are at the crease for the visitors... big first-innings total required by the Bears.

  11. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Kent 8-0 v Surrey

Tawanda Muyeye gets off the mark with two boundaries off the opening over from Dan Worrall, the first a back-foot punch through the covers but the second a streakier edge past the slips. Ben Compton at the other end is yet to face a ball.

  12. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

    Essex 0-0 v Somerset

The age-old Essex opening pair of Alastair Cook and Nick Browne are in the middle for the hosts at Chelmsford.

Still no hundreds for former England captain Cook this season in 12 innings... will that change today under glorious blue skies?

    Lancashire v Hampshire 5-0

Southport is bathed in sunshine as Hampshire begin their innings with Joe Weatherley and Fletcha Middleton in the middle.

Weatherley finds the ropes with a lovely drive past mid-off off Tom Bailey to get the visitors off and running.

The visitors have picked three spinners while Lancashire have only selected one. Interesting to see who's got that call right.

Phil Salt is back for the hosts.

  16. Sunday sun-day?published at 10:56 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

It is forecast to be very hot and very sunny across almost the entire country today, but, you know what British weather in June means? Yep, every chance of a thunderstorm.

Yesterday's Charlotte Edwards Cup showpiece fell victim to the weather after apocalyptic clouds bubbled-up and then dumped over Worcester in the afternoon, and forecasters think there's every chance of similar happening across the country this afternoon.

You can check the outllook for yourself here.

If you want to keep an eye on the CE Cup Final between The Blaze and the Southern Vipers then play is already underway on the reserve day. Follow the live text here.

  17. The state of play in Division Twopublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

Durham are the Division Two leaders with four wins from their first six games.

Sussex are second, 29 points behind, having drawn five of their first six matches, while Yorkshire are bottom as one of three sides in the second tier yet to win in the four-day competition in 2023.

We'll be missing some of Division Two's star performers from this round of fixtures, though.

Cheteshwar Pujara of Sussex and Marnus Labuschagne of Glamorgan, two of the three players to have scored more than 500 Division Two runs this summer, are involved in the World Test Championship final between India and Australia at The Oval.

And the division's leading wicket-taker, Durham's Matthew Potts, is currently with the England squad. Apparently they've got a big Test series coming up...

  18. The state of play in Division Onepublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 11 June 2023

It seems an age since the whites were folded up and the pyjamas came out, so we all probably need a County Championship refresher.

Surrey were frighteningly good in their opening six games and sit top of the pile with 104 points ahead of their trip to second-bottom Kent – whom they beat by 10 wickets in just over two days in their most recent match last month.

Warwickshire and Hampshire are their nearest challengers but both have already lost to the reigning champions by nine wickets this season.

Warwickshire do have a game in hand ahead of their trip to Trent Bridge to face Notts, who make up the top-half along with Somerset who visit sixth-placed Essex.

Lancashire are the only other unbeaten side ahead of their visit of Hampshire, but they are also the only side yet to win and lie in the bottom four, who are separated by just 12 points.
