  1. 50 runs

for George Hillpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Yorkshire 194-3 v Gloucestershire

A sixth first-class fifty for George Hill.

The 22-year-old brings up the landmark off a well-paced 82 balls with seven fours and a lovely maximum off Zafar Gohar.

He has shared in a 104-run fourth-wicket stand with Fin Bean - a partnership with a combined age of just 43.

  2. wicket

WICKET Davey lbw b Carter 4published at 14:16 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Somerset 129-8 v Nottinghamshire

Somerset are collapsing in a heap here as Matt Carter takes a third wicket.

Josh Davey misses an arm ball from Carter which strikes hits him low on his pads right in front and his 12-ball stay is over. No doubt whatsoever about that one.

It's a fourth wicket after lunch and Nottinghamshire look likely to be batting before tea.

  3. Postpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Yorkshire 175-3 v Gloucestershire

Yorkshire are working themselves into a strong position at Headingley.

Fin Bean has eased to 85 and George Hill is 13 shy of a half-century.

The fourth-wicket partnership has moved to 85 and they look set fair.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Mitchell b Lawes 27published at 14:14 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Lancashire 119-5 v Surrey

Surrey strike for the second time in seven balls and, without any further addition, Daryl Mitchell follows Dane Vilas back to the pavilion.

Tom Lawes, who has a nice habit of getting the bigger-name internationals out, has another scalp to his name.

Two new batsmen to get at now as George Balderson comes in to join Phil Salt.

  5. 100 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Hampshire 100-4 v Middlesex

It's taken them a while to get there but Hampshire have reached 100.

Middlesex's bowlers have done a good job of restricting the runs so far and the hosts need Nick Gubbins and Liam Dawson to put together a decent partnership now.

  6. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Leicestershire v Durham 164-2

After their pummelling in the first 90 minutes of the day, Leicestershire have dug in.

They've slowed the rate a tad and taken a second wicket as Scott Borthwick (8) edges George Scriven behind to Peter Handscomb.

Durham have slipped from 145-0 to 164-2 to give the hosts some heart.

  7. 50 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Northamptonshire 132-4 v Kent

An 18th first-class half-century is on the board for Rob Keogh.

It came up in 72 balls, with seven fours.

He's at the crease with Saif Zaib, who has just moved on to 15.

  8. 50 runs

for Jake Libbypublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Worcestershire 120-3 Derbyshire

Pears opener Jake Libby reaches a half-century from 106 deliveries, including seven fours.

Shortly after lunch there was disappointment for Worcestershire debutant Rehaan Edavalath.

The teenager, on his first-class debut, lasted only three balls before falling lbw to Anuj Dal.

  9. wicket

    WICKET - Vilas c Latham b Abbott 39published at 14:06 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Lancashire 119-4 v Surrey

Sean Abbott strikes for a third time as he ends the 73-run stand between Dane Vilas and Daryl Mitchell.

But it is not a shot that Vilas will want to see again.

Just as he was looking like he was getting into his stride, the former Lancs skipper hung his bat out to dry at the grateful Abbott and Tom Latham took a comfortable slip catch.

Wicketkeeper Phil Salt is the new man in. Not the worst number six in county cricket. Daryl Mitchell is on 27.

  10. wicket

    WICKET C Overton c Clarke b Patterson 1published at 14:04 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Somerset 124-7 v Nottinghamshire

You won't see many catches like that this season.

Craig Overton nibbles at a Dane Patterson ball outside off stump which takes his edge.

It flies low to a diving Matt Carter at second slip who somehow palms it up before it hits the ground to give his first slip colleague Joe Clarke a simple catch.

Notts will say you earn your luck and they have been superb so far today.

  11. wicket

WICKET Brown c Robson b de Caires 13published at 14:03 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Hampshire 94-4 v Middlesex

Josh de Caires is straight into the action early in the afternoon session to pick-up his second wicket.

Ben Brown tries to work it away off his pads but ends up sending the ball straight into the hands of Sam Robson at short leg.

He had to be alert at that distance but it's probably one of the easier catches you can take in that position.

The disappointment for Brown is clear to see and Hampshire are four down before reaching 100 runs.

  12. 100 runs

Century stand for Westley and Lawrencepublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Essex 139-2 v Warwickshire

Essex duo Tom Westley and Dan Lawrence still going well at Chelmsford.

Both now have half-centuries - and their partnership is well past three figures.

It seems a long way back now to losing Feroze Khushi and Alastair Cook inside the first five overs.

Lawrence has been given special dispensation to play, as he will join up with his England colleagues possibly tonight.Timely knock this.

  13. 100 runs

Hundred up for Lancashirepublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Lancashire 107-3 (28 overs) Surrey

Nice start to the afternoon session as, having completed their 50 stand with the last ball before lunch, Dane Vilas and Daryl Mitchell then steer the visitors past the 100 mark on the restart.

  14. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore lbw b Patterson 38published at 13:49 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Somerset 110-6 v Nottinghamshire

It's going from bad to worse for Somerset as they lose a second wicket in 13 balls after lunch.

Top-scorer Tom Kohler-Cadmore had escaped a tight lbw call to Dane Patterson the first ball after lunch, but not this time.

He misses a straight ball which would have gone on to hit his leg stump.

Craig Overton joins Kasey Aldridge at the wicket.

  15. wicket

WICKET Rew c Montgomery b Carter 10published at 13:46 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Somerset 110-5 v Nottinghamshire

    A dramatic start at Taunton.

Dane Patterson steams in with the first ball after lunch and raps the pads of Tom Kohler-Cadmore sparking a loud appeals from bowlers and slips.

It looked very close, but is ruled not out.

But Matt Carter strikes with his first ball after lunch.

Pitching a slow spinner on a length, James Rew prods forward and edges the ball onto his pads. It loops up to Matt Montgomery who takes a smart catch.

    Nine games. 26 wickets taken.

Does that seem slightly more than usual?

England spinner Dom Bess - a surprise loan signing for Warwickshire - has sent down 16 overs for 63 on his Bears debut having beenn included along with the 11th hour addition of Jake Lintott .

Both may get plenty of overs this afternoon but the morning session has belonged to Essex.

Skipper Tom Westley (64) and Dan Lawrence (40) have so far added 99 for the third wicket.

99? Yes please. Especially on a day like this.

    With jam!
