What an opening 50-odd minutes we've had. Stuart Broad lives to bowl to David Warner.

    Aus 41-2published at 15.3 overs

We've got a delay because Usman Khawaja needs a new bat. He's broken the one he has been using by plinking a full toss to short cover.

With drinks imminent, common sense prevails - a rare occurrence in cricket - and they'll just take them now.

It's been quite the first hour on day two!

Following from the top of the Pompidou centre in Paris. Someone tell Broady not to overstep.

    Stephen

Sat in the hotel bar in Kos watching. Think the Australian owner is regretting putting it on TV now.

    Neil Bilkey

Listening while sat on a yacht in Sivota Greece. Our European neighbouring boats rather surprised at our shouts of glee as Broad struck! Great job by TMS as always.

Harry Brook's had eight first-class wickets other than Kane Williamson, two of which were Joe Root's brother Billy. Maybe he's fed back that he's completely unplayable.

Just in case you're wondering, Harry Brook has been practising his bowling this week.

Harry Brook looks like a poor man's Graham Gooch to me!

  8. Aus 40-2published at 15 overs

Harry Brook's dibbly-dobbly medium pacers might not have been how many people expected England to try and get Steve Smith out.

    But maybe that's the point?

There is one brief moment of excitement as Smith takes the ball off middle stump and clips towards mid-wicket, where there are two fielders in catching.

Just one from the over and we'll have time for another one before drinks. I forget we started five minutes late, apologies.

Wait a minute, what's this? Stuart Broad's spell is done and Harry Brook - yes, Harry Brook - is going to bowl the last over before drinks.

Are England just trying to wind Australia up now?!

Is there a word for, not quite procrastinating, but doing a bit of work, then being distracted, then doing some more work and being distracted and so on? If there is I am the embodiment of that today. 900 words written but I know a LOT more about cricket than I did when I woke up…

Just a couple of singles from Jimmy Anderson's over.

Australia are just trying to settle things down after those two quick wickets.

This is exactly what you've got to love about Test cricket. I was surprised by the declaration. There's not that much movement but there's just enough there for Broad and Anderson.

England are in a really good, strong position now, everyone would have hoped for a breakthrough last night but the game has changed now.

Stuart Broad gets through a maiden to Steve Smith and even finds the Australian's outside edge.

The ball goes to ground immediately but it's just nice to know that not every ball is going to find the middle of his bat.

Warner will be absolutely frustrated right now. He just kind of collapsed. He almost got too excitable thinking about leathering it.

  17. Aus 37-2published at 12 overs

    Trail by 356

Steve Smith manages to clip another big in-swinger that is headed for his stumps away for a single before Usman Khawaja nails a pull shot for four.

Jimmy Anderson is not happy with that and after the opener blocks the last ball back to him, the England bowler angrily throws it past him to Jonny Bairstow.

After the Warner wicket, Jonny Bairstow ran pretty much all the way to the England dressing room, wanting some tape for the fingers on his left hand. He was quite frustrated that it took so long for someone to produce it from his kit bag. That might have distracted some, but he was still primed to take a stunner. Does his knock yesterday and that catch end the Foakes debate for now?
