  1. Interval - Aus 188-4published at 61 overs

Cameron Green goes for the big shot again but does not quite time it. Still, eight off that over completes a decent session for Australia.

Green, who survived that first ball stumping, is 21 not out, while Usman Khawaja is looking untroubled on 84.

Every strike that Cameron Green hits to the boundary, Jonny Bairstow will be thinking about that missed stumping off his second ball.

    He really can launch them.

And again! This is a lovely shot as Cameron Green gets to the pitch and drives effortlessly through the covers.

That was a fierce strike. That's not playing for tea!

  5. Aus 184-4published at 60.1 overs

Shot. Cameron Green is not going to turn down that invitation as Joe Root floats one up and the powerful Aussie all-rounder blasts it dismissively away for four.

James Gulleford: Feels like England have had some very obvious plans to many of the Australian batters today, but I haven’t really seen a plan to Khawaja, who’s never really looked troubled. Rethink needed!

  7. Aus 180-4published at 60 overs

    The clock is ticking, Knoxy.

Usman Khawaja drives down the ground to bring two more runs. Stuart Broad races through his over though so Joe Root will get another twirl.

It is very much the latter as Cameron Green plays out a maiden.

Stuart Broad will bowl what is likely to be the final over before the break.

Is Cameron Green thinking "go downtown", or is he thinking "get to tea"?

Here is Joe Root. We probably have two overs to go until tea.

The Hollies Stand is bashing around a giant beach ball. That probably tells you Australia are successfully digging in.

Jacob Wadsworth: Not quite sure what the mindset is here from Australia, quite comfortably the best time to bat & they're blocking everything, before you know it England will have the 2nd new ball & they'll still be trailing by 100 with a couple of wickets left.

Anon: Circa 2 runs per over snooze fest here from the Wizards of Oz. Now thats not what i call magic!

    Green 13, Khawaja 82

Great shot by Usman Khawaja, who must be seeing the ball like the inflatable in the Hollies Stand at the moment.

He leaps onto a short delivery from Stuart Broad and pulls away beautifully for four.

Australia were a bit spooked yesterday and they have been timid today, considering how flat the pitch is.

We know that Khawaja plays his way, but it has surprised me.

Usman Khawaja has just been happy to play the anchor and hold everything together for Australia.

England have been very smart with their bowling and field placings.

  18. Aus 172-4published at 57 overs

James Anderson goes around the wicket to Usman Khawaja and a slower, fuller delivery very nearly lures him into a loose shot towards mid-wicket.

Khawaja has offered England very little today, though.

There's a change of bowling at the other end. Stuart Broad is coming back for a pre-tea burst.

They're into consolidating mode again. They don't look like trying to score.

Joe Root is bowling very wide to Usman Khawaja, looking to find some grip and turn in those emerging footmarks.

A straight delivery allows Khawaja to push the ball through to covers for a single to move to 78.

Australia definitely look to have one eye on tea.
