Phil-Boson: Waiting for everyone to jump on the not playing Foakes bandwagon following that missed stumping, completely forgetting that Bairstow has had an excellent match so far with bat and gloves!

Adam Johnson: That missed stumping is why you pick a first-class keeper like Foakes.

Andrew Morris: This is why Foakes should have been in the side. Perhaps not as aggressive a batter as Bairstow but he's by far the more accomplished gloveman. He wouldn't have missed that stumping opportunity.

That was a horrible shot from Green. He's trying to hit the second ball he's faced for six!

    Oh no, Jonny!!

Cameron Green should be on his way. The Aussie all-rounder misses an attempted drive and is caught way out of his crease - but Jonny Bairstow misses the stumping chance.

    Guilty as charged, your honour.

But that's why Ben Stokes is there and I'm over here.

Admit it, you were doubting this plan off Moeen's bowling, weren't you?

Things don't get easier for England. Cameron Green is the new man in the middle.

Travis Head will be furious with himself. He has given it away.

He's running down the pitch and lost all his shape, whereas his natural timing can do the work.

I have to be honest, I wasn't sure about the tactics, keeping the field up. But fair play to Ben Stokes - it has got the reward.

That is a poor shot! But they keep the field up, and it pays off!

    England needed that!

Travis Head is absolutely furious with himself. He charges Moeen Ali once more but miscues a drive straight to Zak Crawley at mid-wicket.

Head smashes his bat into his pad as he walks off. He has fallen into the trap and Ben Stokes is once again vindicated.

I've just seen boundary after boundary.

They've added about fifty in seven overs.

The surprise short ball works well from Ollie Robinson but he's bowling between 77-80mph and the pitch is flat. The tactic is just allowing Australia to dominate.

I was criticising Australia for being too defensive yesterday with the fields but I think Ben Stokes is doing the opposite. You can still attack, but keep a couple of fielders out.

Australia are not having to work too hard for runs at the moment, but I don't expect to see any let up in Ben Stokes' attacking fields any time soon.

Nothing in this pitch that should worry a batter. If Aussies bed down they could be go the day without losing another wicket.

50 for Travis Headpublished at 45 overs

Ollie Robinson is banging it in short again but the pitch has not got enough pace in it, so the ball is just sitting up and making it easy for the Aussie batters to find the boundary.

Travis Head gleefully pulls another short delivery away through point for three runs to bring up his half-century from 59 balls.

Will there ever come a point where Ben Stokes says, "Right, too many how. Let's just try and dry them up?"

Linus: I'm admittedly not the biggest cricket buff, but all I'm seeing from Moeen Ali is a man giving away cheap runs and boundaries with nearly every other ball. Head and Khawaja looking really comfortable now.

  18. Aus 139-3published at 44 overs

    Head 41, Khawaja 66

Ben Stokes is showing no signs of changing his attacking field for Moeen Ali despite being clattered for all those boundaries.

Given what has happened so far, who am I to doubt him?

Australia are on the charge here.

Moeen Ali tosses it up and Usman Khawaja launches him over the top and several rows back in the stand for another six.

That was four if it weren't for Ollie Pope's arm.

That's a nasty one. You don't want to be stood that close when your bowler offers up a half-volley!
