Simon Mahon: Absolute Jaffa from Moeen Ali! Exactly what we needed.

Caven O'Hara: The perfect time for Moeen to grab a couple more and propel England to victory and claim 200 test wickets. Game on.

Abdul Rehman Kala Khel: Moeen is a match winner.

  2. Aus 148-5published at 46 overs

    Target 281

Jimmy Anderson is back into the attack and throws his head back in frustration as Cameron Green plays and misses out off.

    Not far off the edge.

And again! There is a half-hearted appeal from Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow. Anderson isn't interested.

Now he does find the edge but the ball goes wide of slip and away for four. It may not have carried even if there had been a second slip.

It's not been Anderson's Test so far but there's still time for that to change.

Cameron Green's heart is probably beating a little quicker than it normally does.

But this is why you play. Moments like this.

Moeen Ali is going to tempt young Cameron Green into a big shot with the field. He was bowled through the gate by the England spinner in the first innings.

  6. Aus 143-5published at 45 overs

    Target 281

What an eventful first over of the day for Moeen Ali.

It cost 10 runs, all of them to Travis Head, but the left-hander was gone before its conclusion.

Cameron Green is in at six. England need five wickets, Australia need another 138 runs.

Jimmy Anderson made a point of getting his arm around Moeen in the huddle after that wicket. We know how much he needs confidence. If he needs anymore he’s got 6,000 people singing his name in the Hollies.

It was a straightforward catch for Joe Root at slip. There is turn in this pitch for Moeen Ali.

Runs in the over but a wicket towards the end of it. What a lift for Moeen Ali and for England!

    Head c Root b Moeen 16 (Aus 143-5)

It is an important time in the match - England have another one!

There has been turn for the spinner and Moeen Ali finds the edge. A bit of extra bounce, too, to surprise Travis Head as he played back.

Joe Root was waiting at slip and pouched it comfortably. Big, big wicket!

  11. Aus 143-4published at 44.3 overs

    Target 281

Not the start Moeen Ali would have wanted. A bit of a long hop that Travis Head pulls away for four.

The next delivery is a touch short as well and Ben duckett does well in the deep to keep it to two.

Edge next ball but it goes wide of slip and despite the efforts of Stuart Broad it runs away for four more.

This feels like an important time in the match...

Time for spin. Moeen Ali is coming on to bowl for the first time today.

It's been a long spell from Stuart Broad and he's lost a bit of his venom. England are having to use him because Ben Stokes is reluctant to bowl, I think.

I think this Test will go right down the wire. Maybe the weather earlier will help add to the sense of drama around it.

  15. Aus 133-4published at 44 overs

    Target 281

Travis Head has clearly decided now is the time to go. He's giving himself room to drive and hit through the off side.

However, it nearly gets him in trouble when Stuart Broad bowls very full and straight. An attempted drive sees the ball come off the inside edge and roll through his legs.

    Always got past him.

Sahil Oberoi: 24 no-balls and counting for England in the match so far. Forget the declaration, if this goes to the wire, it might be extras that decide the game.

Boundary first ball after drinks! But England won't mind it...

It's short again from Stuart Broad, Travis Head takes it on and edges an attempted pull very fine but wide of Jonny Bairstow.
