You put the mockers on as many Aussies as you like Stephan (14:47).

Travis Head eventually takes on the short ball.

He doesn't really get hold of the pull shot but it does bobble away past Jimmy Anderson at square leg to the fielder in the deep.

However, Usman Khawaja had no interest in the single. I'm not sure if he was just dozing or wanted to keep strike!?

It will be interesting to see how Travis Head plays this. He can be awkward against the short ball, but he can score from it as well.

There are no slips in for Travis Head. It is going to be a bouncer barrage for the Australia left-hander.

Stuart Broad bowled a bouncer and then a ball which was fuller in length which found a little bit of movement. Scott Boland did a job for his team, though, getting a useful 20. Travis Head is a crucial wicket for England now. An hour and a half of him and this Test match might look very different.

It's a wicket and it's an important wicket because Scott Boland was providing stubborn resistance. Is that a sign of things to come for England?

Edged and gone! Stuart Broad does it again!

Bouncer to start the over but he went fuller next up, Scott Boland was drawn in and edged behind on the drive.

It's frustration for Jimmy Anderson because he's trying to hit Scott Boland on those pads but is straying a little bit too straight. England are going to have to get themselves in this game soon. There's nothing through the air, and not a huge amount of movement off the surface at the moment.

  16. Aus 121-3published at 37 overs

More useful runs for Australia as the ball brushes Scott Boland's thigh pad and runs away for four leg byes.

Another ball slides down leg and there is an appeal as Jonny Bairstow takes it. Off the pad, though.

Jimmy Anderson hasn't quite got his line right yet.

South Africa legend AB de Villiers on Twitter: "I never looked at the Birmingham weather leading up to this Test match. The way England played now makes sense. Call it what you want, some say Bazball, I just think it’s smart cricket.

"The best teams are prepared to adapt and play situations in a way that’ll ultimately put them in a winning position more often than the rest, whether that’s by making bold declarations or playing reverse sweeps a lot, whatever it takes.

"The only way to make it impactful is to have a complete buy in from every individual, no ego’s, no stats driven players, just a full on buy in to be the best team in the world. That’s how I see the Eng team play atm. Also saw that with MSD and co. in the IPL.

"Gonna be a fascinating final day. Let’s get it going. Australia still in with a chance here, unlikely, but possible."
