  1. dropped catch

Rob Keogh dropped on 19published at 15:18 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 103-3 v Kent 621

A very sharp chance as Rob Keogh tries to play Joe Denly's leg spin away into the leg side, straight into short-leg Ben Compton, who blocks the ball but can't gather the rebound before it falls to the turf.

Tough one that, it'll hurt and it has to go down as a chance. Keogh makes Kent pay with a couple of swept fours off Hamid Qadri to bring up the Northants 100, though they still trail by 281.

  2. Bad light stops play at Headingleypublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec v Gloucestershire 300-6

The players are heading off the field at Headingley where the light is not good enough to continue.

The Price brothers, Oli and Tom, have batted well together, putting on 54 for the seventh wicket after Miles Hammond was out.

  3. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Sibley b Abbott 10published at 15:15 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Surrey 360 v Lancashire 274 & 251-7

Sean Abbott's blistering 89 set Surrey up in this game and he now comes up with his second wicket of Lancashire's second innings.

George Balderson is tempted into a drive, but it flies to Dom Sibley at first slip.

Lancashire lead by 165 with only three wickets left, despite battling hard with the bat today.

The problem is that is there any target big enough that Surrey will not be confident of getting?

  4. Scores are levelpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 299-8

Dom Bess cracks one away from Sam Cook and that four brings the scores level.

Essex will be required to bat again to win this match.

  5. 50 runs

for Dom Besspublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 291-8

Dom Bess nudges one to bring up a 50 on his Warwickshire debut (and quite possibly his only appearance).

Bess' next match after this is likely to be the Roses T20 match on Friday night when his permanent county Yorkshire travel to Old Trafford to play Lancashire.

The madness of modern county cricket!

  6. History for Dawsonpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Hampshire 419 v Middlesex 150 & 148-6

Fascinating discussion on BBC Radio Solent where commentator Kevan James has been reliably informed it's been 122 years since a Hampshire player hit a century and took 10-wickets in a match.

South African Charlie Llewellyn achieved the feat for Hampshire against Somerset at Taunton in 1901.

    Liam Dawson has matched it.

History everywhere in the County Championship today.

  7. wicket

WICKET Overton c Montgomery b James 11published at 15:05 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 461-7 v Nottinghamshire 186

Craig Overton comes into play his shots and he attempts a pull off Lyndon James and is caught in the deep.

Overton goes for 11 off seven balls - a sign that Somerset are keen to push on.

    They lead by 438 runs.

  8. ouch!

Williams hit on the helmetpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Lancashire 274 & 247-6, Surrey 360

A delay at The Oval after Will Williams is hit on the helmet.

He has to be checked out by the Lancashire physio for precautionary reasons - a quick concussion test.

  9. 'Carlson changes tempo in Cardiff'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 205-4 v Sussex 203

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan acting captain Kiran Carlson changed the tempo of a gritty battle in Cardiff with a sparkling 59 off just 50 balls.

Coming in two balls after lunch when Zain Ul Hassan was given lbw to Jack Carson after an ultra-patient 47, Carlson was quickly into his stride.

He accelerated with a couple of straight sixes off Carson, smashed Ari Karvelas cross-bat over long-off for another maximum and hoisted Tom Haines over mid-wicket for six more.

Seamer Haines had his revenge when Carlson was leg-before in the same over, trying to hoist him into the grandstand.

It was a dramatic gear-change after a turgid morning saw only 64 runs added, while the more measured Sam Northeast reached his 50 off 104 balls just after Carlson’s exit.

  10. 50 runs

for Sam Northeastpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 205-4 v Sussex 203

Kiran Carlson's fun is over as he is trapped LBW by Tom Haines for 59 from 50 balls, but Sam Northeast remains and has brought up his half-century, the 64th of his career, from a more sedate 104 balls with three fours.

The hosts lead by 243 runs.

  11. wicket

WICKET Aldridge b James 50published at 14:52 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 447-6 v Nottinghamshire 186

A terrific delivery from Lyndon James sees off Kasey Aldridge.

A little hint of away movement gets past Aldridge's bat and crashes into the stumps.

Perhaps not what Notts want to see when they trail by 425 and will have to face Craig Overton and Matt Henry in the fourth innings.

  12. 50 runs

for Kasey Aldridgepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 441-5 v Nottinghamshire 186

Kasey Aldridge steers one away into the offside to bring up his 50.

It's a first of the season in red-ball cricket to go with his one century. He's a very useful batter to have coming in at number seven.

  13. Ten-wicket haul for Liam Dawson - WICKET Hollman c Abbas b Dawson 8published at 14:49 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Hampshire 419 v Middlesex 150 & 137-6

To go with his century. Some performance, this.

Career best bowling figures at present after 184 first-class appearances... and there are potentially three more poles waiting for him.

Luke Hollman drives towards mid-off where Mohammad Abbas of all people takes a fine low catch to spark wild celebrations from his teammates who seem happier for him than they are for Dawson's milestone.

  14. 50 runs

for Kiran Carlsonpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 195-3 v Sussex 203

from 46 balls. Brought up with his third four to go with three sixes.

And then he clubs another six. He's on the move. Glamorgan lead by 234.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Salt b Clark 54published at 14:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Lancashire 274 & 240-6

    Big moment for Surrey.

Phil Salt is gone. Lancashire old boy Jordan Clark strikes again. A sixth wicket in the match for the tattooed Cumbrian.

Salt tried to run it down to fine leg, but it deflected cruelly off him and onto the stumps. Probably makes up a bit for the two chances he gave earlier.

George Balderson is the new man in and survies a big shout first ball when the ball appears to brush his arm on its way through.

He then gets off the mark with a four, to rub it in.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hasan Ali c Khushi b Harmer 9published at 14:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 269-8

Hasan Ali did not look like he fancied hanging around too long and he perishes going for a big shot.

But he is caught by a fine catch from Feroze Khushi, running in from deep midwicket as he takes it low down.

Essex only two away. Simon Harmer one wicket away from 10 in the match.

  17. 6 runs

Three sixes in eight ballspublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 182-3 v Sussex 203

... from Kiran Carlson who has exploded into life for Glamorgan after a patient start in the middle.

He joins Sam Northeast on 40 and then passes him with another boundary, in less than half the number of deliveries.

The hosts lead by 221 runs.

  18. wicket

WICKET Mousley st Buttleman b Harmer 61published at 14:38 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 255-7

Dan Mousley and Dom Bess had been taking the attack to Essex in their stand of 82, but Simon Harmer is a wily operator.

He sees Mousley come down the wicket and throws one a little wider where it spins past Mousley's bat.

He is well out of his crease as William Buttleman completes the stumping.

Essex now three wickets away from victory.

  19. No century for Hammondpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec v Gloucestershire 248-6

There was no century for Miles Hammond, who perished for 92 aiming for his eighth sixth of the innings.

Dan Moriarty had hit caught at long-on and he is one away from a five-wicket haul on his Yorkshire debut.

With grey skies and the floodlights on, this is not a good time for batting at Headingley.

  20. wicket

WICKET Higgins c Vince b Dawson 54published at 14:32 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Hampshire 419 v Middlesex 150 & 129-5

Liam Dawson has nine in the match. Ryan Higgins tries a reverse but the ball loops straight to James Vince at slip. Higgins stands still and his head is moving in the direction of the umpire Nigel Llong, who points him towards the pavilion. Not a happy chap.

Dawson has 3-54 to go with 6-40 in the first innings. His career best in a match is 10-139.

    Luke Hollman joins John Simpson.
