    Hampshire 419 v Middlesex 150 & 178-6

Nick Gubbins is on to bowl against his former club. How desperate John Simpson and Josh De Caires will be not to get out to him in particular. Decent first over, airing it out nicely, until Simpson sweeps his last ball to the rope for four to move to 44.

    91 behind, are Middlesex.

WICKET Hameed run out (Bartlett) 0published at 16:16 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186 & 0-1

A disastrous start to Notts' innings and it's a pair for Haseeb Hameed!

Hameed plays it down just wide of gully and makes as if to set off for a run but there is never one on and George Bartlett swoops and throws the stumps down.

    What a start for Somerset!

  3. Warwickshire defiant in probable defeatpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 471 v Warwickshire 158 and 381 (following-on)

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire's second innings defiance is unlikely to be enough to save them from a three day defeat at Chelmsford but they've provided rich entertainment.

After some resistance from Will Rhodes and Jacob Bethell, Dan Mousley became the first Bears batter to take the attack to Essex's bowlers. He hit three sixes on his way to 61.

Dom Bess littered his 63 with impressive sweeps and reverse sweeps and Jake Lintott launched the ball out of the ground on a couple of occasions to score 78 in his third first class innings.

Simon Harmer took much of the tap but the prolific Essex spinner won't be too upset as he finished the innings with five wickets and the match with 10.

  4. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Glamorgan 242 & 268-6 v Sussex 203

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Very much Glamorgan’s session, adding 157 in the fastest scoring rate of the match by far.

Skipper Kiran Carlson led the way with a quickfire 59 in just 50 balls including three sixes, in an innings completely out of keeping with the rest of the game.

Sam Northeast has ticked along to his top score of the season (79 not out), and with lead now over 300 a declaration sometime this evening looks very likely.

Four wickets in hand, 32 overs remaining today, how many will they feel is enough?

  5. Tea in Tauntonpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186

That declaration by Somerset skipper Tom Abell has coincided with tea in Taunton.

There will be no overs lost for a change of innings and when the players return, Notts will begin their pursuit of a mammoth 492.

  6. Tea in Chelmsfordpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 157 & 381

The fall of Jake Lintott means it is time for tea in Chelmsford.

When Sir Alastair Cook and Nick Browne stride to the wicket, Essex will be chasing 82 for victory.

  7. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 v Durham 517-6d & 145-2

Durham have built a lead of 240 at tea after rattling along at better than five an over to reach 145-2, Alex Lees has 71 from 96 balls, with 10 fours, while Daniel Bedingham has a run-a-ball 33.

Earlier Colin Ackerman hit 144 in the hosts total of 422, which was still short of Durham's first innings 517-6 declared.

  8. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Surrey 360 v Lancashire 274 & 274-8

Tom Bailey and Jack Blatherwick get to tea with Lancashire ahead by 188 runs but eight wickets down.

It has been a hard-fought day of cricket as Lancs have fought to keep the leaders at bay, as typified by night-watchman Will Williams, but Surrey keep coming.

  9. Ten-wicket haul for Simon Harmerpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

Jake Lintott goes for one big shot too many and Feroze Khushi clings on in the deep.

Lintott goes for a career-best 78 off 67 balls and Warwickshire have set Essex 83 to win this match.

That should be simple, but at one stage this afternoon the Bears looked certain to lose by an innings.

And with Lintott's departure, that is a fifth wicket of the innings, and 10th of the match for Simon Harmer.

He ends with 5-165 in the innings and 10-230 in the match and has likely spun his county to yet another victory on the day in which he took his 400th first-class wicket for Essex.

What a servant to them the South Africa spinner has been.

  10. wicket

WICKET Williams c Smith b Lawes 61published at 15:54 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Surrey 360 v Lancashire 274 & 263-8

Will Williams' heroic resistance is ended!

After 220 balls, the New Zealander is undone by a short ball from Tom Lawes that he loops into the hands of short leg.

He was hit on the helmet and peppered by short balls after lunch but he carried on bravely.

It is a career-best for Williams but Surrey will sense an opening now.

  11. Somerset set Notts 492 to winpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 514-8 dec v Nottinghamshire 186

Matt Henry launches a massive six to get to 22 off only 11 balls and captain Tom Abell decides that is enough.

Somerset lead by 491 and will have four sessions to try to bowl out Notts.

James Rew takes the applause of the Taunton crowd as he finishes with a career-best of 123 not out, his fourth hundred of the season.

  12. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Hampshire 419 v Middlesex 150 & 172-6

The Middlesex deficit is into double-figures as John Simpson (39 from 119) and Josh De Caires (18 from 57) have dug in to put on 35 runs from 110 balls across the past hour.

Liam Dawson has 10-wickets in the match but Middlesex are clinging on for dear life.

  14. 50 runs

for Jake Lintottpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 349-9

Jake Lintott reverses sweeps one from Simon Harmer and gets it fine enough to get his maiden first-class half-century.

And he turns the next ball away down leg for four more.

16 off the over! Some good defiance from the Warwickshire tail.

  15. 50 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 133-3 v Kent 621

With Luke Procter (23 from 95) playing a supporting role, Rob Keogh has kept the scoreboard moving along and has reached his 18th first-class half-century with a sweep to the rope off Hamid Qadri from the penultimate ball of the session.

Fifties in either innings for Keogh and he's going to be crucial to their hopes here.

The deficit is 251 at tea.

  16. wicket

WICKET Davey c Hutton b Mullaney 19published at 15:38 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Somerset 163 & 488-8 v Nottinghamshire 186

Steven Mullaney brings himself on to bowl and the Notts skipper strikes!

Josh Davey goes for a big shot and holes out at deep midwicket.

No declaration though at the fall of the wicket, despite Somerset leading by 465.

  17. wicket

WICKET Bess c Buttleman b Porter 63published at 15:38 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 333-9

Dom Bess has held up Essex this afternoon, but no more.

He tries to pull one from Jamie Porter but under-edges it behind.

The lead is only 34 as last man Chris Rushworth walks to the crease for Warwickshire.

  18. Declaration at New Roadpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Worcester 237 v Derbyshire 578-5 dec

Derbyshire have declared with a lead of 341 runs after a barrage of boundaries took their sixth-wicket stand to an unbroken 258 inside 58 overs.

Anuj Dal finished unbeaten on 141 from 193 while Leus du Plooy finishes on a career best 238 not out from 356 balls.

Making up for lost time after the late start, but can the visitors engineer victory in just over four sessions?

  19. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Surrey 360 v Lancashire 274 & 261-7

Stand and deliver from Tom Bailey.

He stays on the back foot to thump Tom Lawes through the covers. That is successive fours for Bulldog.

Bailey may have license to play a few shots while night-watchman Will Williams continues to play the anchor role.

  20. Career best for Lintottpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Essex 457 v Warwickshire 158 & 319-8

Given that this is only Jake Lintott's second first class match, it is little surprise that this is his career-best score.

It was 15, but a lovely drive off Simon Harmer gets him and takes him to 33 not out.

    Warwickshire lead by 20.
