    The clouds are gathering in Taunton and the umpires have called it a day.

    Lots of work for Hampshire to do tomorrow - but this day was all about James Rew, who scored a brilliant career-best 221 for Somerset.

    The hosts recovered from 41-1 and 80-5 to post 500, including a century stand for the final wicket between Rew and Shoaib Bashir (44*).

    Skipper James Vince dropped Kasey Aldridge on eight, he went on to make 88, and Rew on 82 before he added another 139. Vince will be desperate to make inroads into the total tomorrow.

    Harry Came went early for the visitors, but Brooke Guest and Wayne Madsen added 81 for the third wicket before Madsen went for 51.

    Guest will start day three on 80, with Leus du Plooy on 32.
