The former England Test player is 25 not out with Kent six overs from stumps.

  2. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 42-1 - trail by 16

Bamber bowls to Emilio Gay and the batter drives to extra cover for one. In the air for a while but the ball lands safely.

Justin Broad plays the last ball with the bat well away from his body, pushing it into the covers. No run.

Northants have slowed down since the fall of Vasconcelos earlier in the innings.

An appeal for a leg side catch off Gay by Higgins is turned down at the other end. Pad perhaps?

  3. Essex hope for early wicketspublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancashire v Essex 282

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A 15th first-class five-wicket haul for Tom Bailey was behind the post-tea fight back by Lancashire.

The second new ball worked wonders and Bailey bowled beautifully with it the final five wickets fall for just seven runs.

Essex also have a pretty impressive new ball attack with Sam Cook and Jamie Porter and they'll be hoping to make this a very uncomfortable 13 over spell.

  4. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 29-1 v Warwicks 549-7 dec

Another over ticks by at Canterbury - three runs for Joe Denly added off Chris Rushworth and he is 18 not out.

There are seven more scheduled before stumps.

  5. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hants 52-2

Aldridge bowls to Vince, who plays the ball safely down to backward square.

The pitch is pretty flat but plenty of scoreboard pressure on Vince and Gubbins with the visitors still 452 behind.

That will help. Jack Brooks bowls a leg stump half volley and Vince drives it for four, just past a jumping Nick Gubbins at the non-striker's end.

That's the innings 50 in the 14th over.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

A no-ball that runs away for four byes followed by a single for Will Young and the Notts total reaches 200.

They have 16 more overs to survive until stumps and doing so without further loss - if possible - is the name of the game now.

  9. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 25-1 v Warwickshire 549-7 dec

A couple of erratic bounces from Chris Rushworth and Oliver Hannon-Dalby will be chilling the blood of Kent batters on the balcony.

That said, Joe Denly has worked a couple of leg-side fours using the pace of the seamers and stands up to thump another through the covers off the back-foot, holding the pose. The old Joe Denly. He has 14 off 12 balls. How Kent would welcome a return to his best, right now...

  10. Durham charge aheadpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 335-5 v Glos 316

A brace of fours from Carse, who carves Charlesworth through cover point off successive balls.

A single off the third ball and the fourth is glanced to fine leg by Lees for four more.

    16 off the over.

  11. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 20-1 v Warwicks 549-7 dec

Real back to the walls stuff at Canterbury.

Ben Compton and Joe Denly survive Chris Rushworth's second over and the latter finds the fine leg boundary at the start of the next, bowled by OHD.

  12. Postpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 319-5 v Glos 316

A bit of confusion in the middle as Carse pushes a ball from Goodman into the covers and Lees is halfway down the pitch before his partner sends him back.

A very wild leg side ball from Goodman as Carse backs away and the bowler tries to follow him.

The ball goes well wide of leg stump - and that's a wide plus the batters run a single.

  13. Back underway at Tauntonpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 46-2

18.2 overs remaining at Taunton... can Somerset strike with the first ball for the third time this evening?

No. Nick Gubbins is denied a boundary by some sharp fielding at cover from Shoaib Bashir.

WICKET Buttleman lbw Bailey 2published at 17:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancashire v Essex 282

From 275-5, Essex subside to 282 all out in the space of seven overs.

Tom Bailey has Will Buttleman lbw for superb figures of 6-59, and once again, he was well backed up by Will Williams (3-71)

Having been 55-4, Essex were recued by a stand of 155 between Tom Westley and Paul Walter.

Westley made 135 and Walter 76, but Simon Harmer was the only other player to pass 20 and they have to settle for a single batting point.

A quick delivery by Jamie Overton squares up Joe Clarke and Tom Latham takes the catch at gully.

Sean Abbott continues at the other end and Will Young punches his first ball away for four.

  16. Clark out for 82published at 17:43 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 316-5 v Gloucestershire 361

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Graham Clark made 100 runs at Bristol in May and rescued Durham from a position when they were 149-4. Today he came in with them on 109-4 and by the time he was out for 82, they were 304-5.

His stand of 195 with Alex Lees was Durham's highest fifth wicket partnership against Gloucestershire.

And it looked like he would make another hundred today, only to fall in Ben Charlesworth's first over, pulling a half volley to Chris Dent at mid-wicket.

At the other end Alex Lees has 176. He has scored at least 100 in his last three Championship innings - only the second Durham player to do so.

It's going to be a late finish. As of 5.40pm there's still 19 overs to go.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

Having finally begun some meaningful cricket at Cardiff, Glamorgan are 18-1 after three overs against Leicestershire, with Zain un-Hassan 12 not out.

Higgins drifts into the pads and Gay flicks the ball into leg for two runs.

A hint of inside edge as Gay blocks the last ball of the over. A bit of seam movement there for sure.

    14 overs left tonight.

YORKSHIRE BOWLED OUT FOR 407published at 17:36 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

Matthew Revis is last man out - and .Adam Finch has a fifth wicket.

He finishes wirth 5-100 - his second five-wicket haul, following his career-best .5-74 against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in May.

Finch has taken 5-52 in 12.1 overs today.

And, having been up against it when Yorkshire were 177-0, Worcestershire have taken all 10 Yorkshire wickets in 52.1 overs. Not a bad recovery that.
