Jack Leaning moves to 34 with a genuine edge off Oliver Hannon-Dalby which flies high past Rob Yates at slip. His fourth four.

A few balls later Harry Finch then brings up the 150 with a nicely-timed cut for four off Ed Barnard, his fifth, and follows it up with a square clip off his legs for number six. He has 31.

    Edged and four runs!

A let off for Whiteman as the batter gets a streaky boundary off the bowling of Roland-Jones.

Robson tumbles to his right at slip and can't quite stop the ball.

That's the 100 partnership for the 3rd wicket, coming in 252 balls.

    The lead is 103.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops play in Blackpoolpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Lancs 145 v Essex 282 & 0-1

We bet Essex are wishing the rain had arrived at Stanley Park before Tom Bailey was able to begin his opening over.

Nick Browne had no-one else to blame, though, as he offered no shot and was struck right in front.

Tom Westley saw out the rest of the over before the umpires ordered the teams back to the dressing rooms.

  4. wicket

WICKET Hose b Fisher 38published at 14:55 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Yorkshire 407, Worcestershire 139-7

    Worcestershire lose a seventh wicket.

Adam Hose pushes forward to Matthew Fisher, is beaten all ends up and loses his off stump.

Josh Baker comes in to join a well-set looking Joe Leach.

  5. wicket

WICKET Browne lbw Bailey 0published at 14:53 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Lancs 145 v Essex 282 & 0-1

The players are back out at Stanley Park with Essex ready to begin their second innings.

And Nick Browne becomes the second player in the matter of a few minutes to register a pair as he falls lbw to Tom Bailey's third delivery.

Browne was caught off Bailey's fourth ball first time around.

    Yorkshire 407, Worcestershire 139-6

    BBC Sport at New Road

Back underway after a near two-hour delay, caused by rain, lunch and then a short further hiccup when two of the covers became detached from the tractor that the groundstaff were pulling - and it needed a bit of people power to get it moving again. Including two of the enterprising Yorkshire outfielders.

  7. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Kent 171 & 138-3 v Warwickshire 549-7 dec

Just the one scoring shot in the three overs since the resumption at Canterbury.

Weather radar looks far clearer for the afternoon so Warwickshire will be seeking to reestablish their dominance and oust one of Harry Finch and Jack Leaning before too long.

  8. wicket

WICKET Bracey c Robinson b Pretorius 15published at 14:52 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 63-5

Hammond gets away with a thick edge wide of gully for four, but Bracey is the next batter to go.

Hammond takes a single - and one ball later Bracey drives and edges to Robinson, who takes a diving catch at full stretch just inches above the turf.

    Great grab.

Zafar Gohar is the new batter.

  9. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 157-2 - lead by 99

Roland-Jones hurries Procter a little in his latest over as the Northants captain plays and misses a whisker outside the off stump.

Whiteman takes a single off the leggie, Robson.

Procter tries to get over to off stump and work the spinner away to leg - and connects with the fifth ball, taking a single out square.

Single for Whiteman pushed to long on.

    Surrey 355 & 11-1 v Notts 399

After the shock of losing their captain for a duck for the second time in their game, Surrey need to get their heads down for a bit.

Tom Latham off drives Brett Hutton for four and is six not out, with Dom Sibley on five.

  11. Division Two updatepublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

Derbyshire have their fourth batting point and are now in front at Hove, reaching 403-8 in reply to Sussex's 402 all out. Alex Thomson is 40 not out and George Scrimshaw has 19 - they are just five runs short of a 50 partnership.

Michael Neser and James Harris are also close to a 50 stand for Glamorgan, who badly need it as they are 139-7 in the 46th over against Leicestershire. Neser has 38 off 50 balls so far.

  12. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 58-4 - trail by 79

Carse bowls to Bracey and the Gloucester captain drives through the off side for two.

Good pace here from the bowler, who has beaten Bracey outside off in this over.

The last ball keeps a bit low and Bracey jabs down and squeezes the ball out safely to cover.

  13. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 150-2 - lead by 92

Well, here's a rarity. 14 overs before the new ball is available and Middlesex have called on the services of occasional leg spinner Sam Robson.

Procter takes a single off the first ball.

Whiteman tucks the ball away through fine leg for two.

Same result off the next ball - and that's the innings 150 in the 67th over.

  14. 6 runs

for Felix Organpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Somerset 500 v Hampshire 182-8

Almighty swing and a miss from Felix Organ who has played pretty calmly so far. Clearly he's just warming up though as he deposits Shoaib Bashir into the seats for a six over deep square to move to 26*.

Kyle Abbott has rattled three fours at the other end in his 16.

318 behind and 168 shy of the follow-on target.

  15. wicket

    WICKET Bailey b S Cook 13published at 14:41 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Lancashire 145 v Essex 282

They avoided the possibility of following on, but that's the only positive Lancashire can take as Tom Bailey's dismissal ends their first innings at Stanley Park.

Having sliced Sam Cook for six over cover, he is startled by a waist-high full toss and gloves it down into his stumps.

Phil Salt is left on 35 not out and Essex will start their second innings with a healthy lead of 137. Cook's final figures are 4-42.

    Durham 453 v Glos 316 & 51-4 - trail by 86

Another heart in mouth moment as Hammond gets a thick edge off Carse and the ball flies away wide of gully for four.

It's a no ball in any case.

Another no ball takes Gloucester to the innings 50 in the 18th over.

  18. wicket

WICKET Burns lbw Hutton 0published at 14:38 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Surrey 355 & 0-1 v Notts 399

Rory Burns won't look back on this match with any fondness - unless Surrey go on to win it.

After falling lbw to Brett Hutton's second ball in the first innings, it's the fourth that does for him in identical fashion this time.

That is a pair for the home skipper.

  19. Lancashire escape possible follow-onpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Lancs 136-9 v Essex 282

The follow-on quandary is no longer relevant as Phil Salt greets the return of Paul Walter with a six, followed by a single.

The maximum was quite some shot - Salt shuffled right across his stumps and then swished it away beyond the rope at mid-wicket.

Tom Bailey finds the point boundary later in the over and the deficit is down to 146.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Sam Whitemanpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

    Middlesex 277 v Northants 219 & 144-2 - lead by 86

Whiteman hits Bamber high over square leg for his fifth four - and that's a stylish way to reach a half century.

In the air for a long time but lands safely out of reach.

    142 balls.
