    Northants v Somerset 186-3

Tom Kohler-Cadmore has batted positively since he replaced Sean Dickson in the middle, and slaps Luke Procter over mid-off for four to move to 26.

A single gets George Bartlett on strike, who flicks down to fine-leg for four more.

  2. wicket

WICKET Brown lbw b James 0published at 15:03 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Notts v Hants 68-4

    Gone second ball!

Another full ball jags back, and Ben Brown is rapped on the front pad. The umpire's finger shoots up, and having rebuilt well, Hampshire are back in a whole heap of bother.

  3. wicket

  4. wicket

WICKET Cox b Porter 31published at 14:57 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 167-7

Jordan Cox has played nicely for his 31 but he's tried to defend and has been done by another which nips back, as Jamie Porter smashes the top off off.

That's 43 added in seven overs with Grant Stewart but Kent are now seven down.

Hamid Qadri is the new batter.

  5. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Middlesex v Surrey 123-2

The sun has come out but the runs are drying up as Surrey seek to dig in and rebuild after Tom Latham's departure.

Rory Burns has 66 from 138 balls and it playing the role of Dom Sibley as much as he is Rory Burns at the moment.

Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Warks v Lancs 137-5

Daryl Mitchell edges the fifth ball of Chris Rushworth's over and I think it drops just short of first slip.

Mitchell decides he's had enough of defending and launches the final ball of the over for six down the ground.

Not entirely convincing, but it's six nonetheless.

  7. Division Two latestpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

Worcestershire's collapse is continuing at Oakham School against Leicestershire. They're now 125-6 having been 74-1 at lunch. Wiaan Mulder has done the damage with three wickets.

Sussex have lost a fourth wicket at Headingley against Yorkshire. Ben Coad has bowled Oli Carter to leave them 46-4.

Derbyshire pair Brooke Guest and Wayne Madsen have both hit unbeaten half-centuries against leaders Durham. The hosts are well placed on 144-2.

  8. 6 runs

by Grant Stewartpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 161-6

Grant Stewart has launched Simon Harmer for another six over long off which is not coming back.

Umpires straight off to the box of new balls. That's cleared the stand and might even be headed for the road.

The counter attack continues. Stewart and Jordan Cox have added 37 in five overs.

  9. 6 runs

for Grant Stewartpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 147-6

Paul Walter is two metres tall and even he, stood on the rope, cannot prevent Grant Stewart from launching Simon Harmer for a straight six over long on.

The Kent all-rounder smote a 37-ball half-century last time out against Warwickshire and has 16 from 10 balls here. He only knows one way to play, and that way is fun to watch!

  10. wicket

WICKET Latham c Bamber b Helm 38published at 14:27 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Middlesex v Surrey 106-2

Breakthrough for Middlesex. Tom Helm bangs in a bouncer and Tom Latham tries a hook which he can only sky to the scampering Ethan Bamber who takes a neat catch running around at long leg.

A stand of 94 is at an end. Jamie Smith joins Rory Burns who has 58.

  11. wicket

WICKET Evison b Bracewell 11published at 14:24 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 124-6

A couple of nice flashes from Joey Evison in his breezy 11 but he's shouldered arms and been castled by Doug Bracewell who got one to nip back off a length.

Kent are six down and Grant Stewart joins Jordan Cox.

  12. wicket

WICKET Dickson c Gay b White 70published at 14:22 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Northants v Somerset 138-3

    A big breakthrough for Northants!

Jack White tempts Sean Dickson into playing at one outside off, and the Somerset opener can only nick it to Emilio Gay at second slip.

Three wickets now for White, who has bowled excellently.

  13. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Middlesex v Surrey 104-1

Surrey move into three figures before Tom Helm finds the edge of Tom Latham's bat once again - this time it's dropped a few inches short of Sam Robson at second slip.

Latham replies with a dreamily-timed pull through mid-wicket for four to move to 37 to end the over.

  14. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 109-5

Ground Force on the scene at Chelmsford where the footholds are getting some TLC in the middle of an over.

Sam Cook's obviously done some damage in his opening 11 overs. Plenty of scraping and sweeping going on. Player safety is paramount as always, of course!

  15. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Warwickshire v Lancs 103-5

Daryl Mitchell slices Mir Hamza for two streaky fours to bring up Lancashire's hundred.

The New Zealander has 21 from 22 balls and could well be the key for the visitors at Edgbaston.

  16. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

They're back out at Headingley after a delay of more than two hours for rain.

Sussex need to rebuild after slumping to 24-3.

Worcestershire have lost three wickets since lunch against Leicestershire to fall to 97-4.

Derbyshire are going along well against leaders Durham at The County Ground. They're 107-2 with Brooke Guest 48 not out.

  17. 50 runs

    Middlesex v Surrey 93-1

Incredibly this is just the second of the season for the Surrey skipper - the other came in the match against Middlesex at the Oval in May. He came into the campaign with 66 first class fifties and 24 centuries, no less.

His side might be top of the table but the 32-year-old had actually only made 108 runs in nine knocks since that contribution of 88 and made a pair last time out against Notts.

This innings has looked far more like a return to the norm, rather than an exception.

101 deliveries and nine fours to get there, the last of them a glance to long leg off Ryan Higgins to reach the milestone.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Bell c Rhodes b Hannon-Dalby 0published at 13:59 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Warks v Lancs 91-5

A nine-ball duck for George Bell, and Warwickshire are well on top!

Full and swinging from Oliver Hannon-Dalby, and Bell nicks it to Sam Hain in the cordon.

  19. wicket

WICKET Abell b White 34published at 13:54 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Northants v Somerset 109-2

Jack White was the pick of the bowlers this morning, and he removes the Somerset captain with an absolute peach.

A bit of seam back into Tom Abell and it sends the stumps flying.

George Bartlett is the new man.

  20. wicket

WICKET Leaning c Rossington b Cook 27published at 13:53 British Summer Time 19 July 2023

    Essex v Kent 100-5

Sam Cook strikes again. Jack Leaning stays in his crease and pushes at one which straightened up outside off and sends a faint edge through for Adam Rossington to take a fine low catch with two hands down to his right.

Joey Evison joins Jordan Cox with Kent needing a salvage operation.

Sam Cook has 3-11 from nine overs. Different class.
