Aus 58-0published at 20 overs
Still nothing doing for England. They've had several near misses and at least one, possibly two, proper chances that have gone down but no wickets.
Australia will be delighted with their morning to this point.
Root takes two wickets in an over but Australia close on 339-5

Warner's heart would have been in his mouth there, I'm liking this change of angle from Tongue.
Decent signs for Josh Tongue as a bit of nip off the surface troubles David Warner.
The ball hits the inside edge but back misses the stumps and races down to fine leg for four.
Australia have had a bit of luck and the openers are making the most of it.

Utterly pointless spell from Ollie Robinson there. Absolutely nothing happened.

Cricketers are mysteriously superstitious creatures. If I've got wickets in certain boots, I will wear them until I can't anymore. Maybe, Usman Khawaja is the same with this jumper.
A leg bye brings up the fifty partnership between David Warner and Usman Khawaja, who then drives nicely through mid-off for two.
No further runs from the over but still no wickets for England.
With less than 20 minutes until lunch after opting to bowl on a green-tinged surface under thick grey clouds, this is not how England would have anticipated this session going.
Via CricViz's captaincy grid, Josh Tongue is considered a green option to bowl at both of these openers, whereas Ollie Robinson is just a yellow.
The model gives a verdict of either green, yellow or red for each bowler to each batter, with green being the best option, yellow being in the middle and red being the worst.
Warner 38, Khawaja 10
Josh Tongue does have that bit of extra pace compared to England's other seamers and does try a couple of short balls to the Australia openers.
David Warner is able to hit him for a pair of boundaries, though. The first slashed past gully and then, next ball, a ferocious pull shot that reaches the rope in no time!
Big moment for Josh Tongue. The 25-year-old is on to bowl on his Ashes debut - and just his second Test.
Can he make the breakthrough?

The crowd, far more subdued than at Edgbaston, are trying to lift England after that Warner play and miss.

I just think the England side thrive off this noise and the crowd are getting up now.
Stuart Broad looks to be trying to put things right in that regard now, Matt!
He gets another one in the danger area, again David Warner is drawn in but again the ball goes millimetres past the edge.
Of course, England still have to take the catch once the edge is found.
Those two plays and misses have really go the crowd going though.

Looking at the data, England have bowled nine balls in the 'full' category so far...

The captain has just been on the screen and has given a sigh. He's desperate for the breakthrough. It's the kind of conditions where if you get one, you can get a second very quickly and maybe three in 30 minutes.
Yet another play and a miss!
It's a beauty from Stuart Broad. Angling in at David Warner before swinging away to beat the edge.
Perfect line, perfect length but just past edge.

Ross Brown: There’s a distinct 2005 feel to England’s catching in this series.

I think Nathan Lyon will be looking at these footmarks already and will be quietly happy that Australia are batting first.
A nervy start to the over for Usman Khawaja as he is beaten outside off by a ball angled across him.
He then tries to pull the next but it was nowhere near short enough from Ollie Robinson. It was a no-ball in any case.
The Australia opener settles himself down after that and calmly sees out the remainder of the over.
Time for Josh Tongue?

Why don't the slips stand closer? I'm not even into cricket that much, but I've solved England's problem. You're welcome.

I think that Ollie Pope drop is why, V...
The runs are slowly starting to come a little easier for Australia and a full toss from Stuart Broad helps them in that regard.
David Warner isn't going to miss out on that. Thumped through the covers for four.
Meanwhile, Rehan Ahmed is on the field with Ben Duckett off for the time being.
