More boos from the crowd as the police take the protesters around the boundary and away.

Jonny Bairstow has had to run back to the changing room, possibly to change his gloves after getting some orange powder/ dust/ stuff on him.

But after a quick clean up, we're ready to go again...

It's fair to say the majority of the Lord's crowd is not impressed with this protest.

There were boos and cheers when the protestors were carried from the ground.

    Breaking

Here we go. We've got Just Stop Oil protesters running on with some orange powder.

Jonny Bairstow plays his part to stop them getting to the pitch itself and ends up carrying one of them off!

We're going to have a delay while the ground staff clear the powder from the outfield.

Lord's has been difficult to bat on. In seven of the last ten Test's here, the side who batted first have been bowled out for under 200.

    Warner 4, Khawaja 0

Australia are off the mark with a boundary. It's a long half-volley from Jimmy Anderson as he searches for swing.

Just timed through the covers by David Warner. Four all the way.

There was some movement for Anderson. It's no great surprise in these conditions but it will encourage England to see it form the off.

John Petrie: After Edgbaston, it's as if Jimmy Anderson has been given his dream come true pitch and overhead conditions. This could be something special.

I’ve just chatted with an Aussie fan.

“If they don’t get us in these conditions they never will,” he says.

He’s convinced it’s too dark to play.

    Worried?

  8. Aus 0-0published at 0.2 overs

Full and straight to start from Jimmy Anderson and David Warner is forward to defend.

Swing next ball! It moves away from Warner, who flashes at it wide of off. Nearly for England!

Jerusalem has been sung now and Jimmy Anderson is at the end of his mark.

He'll start over the wicket to David Warner. Play!

The anthems have been sung, the hover cover is being taken from the playing area and we're almost ready to go!

England could hardly have asked for better conditions to bowl after winning the toss. Now they have to make them count...

People are still pouring into the ground behind the stands. There are just a few spots of rain in the air.

It’s a totally different atmosphere to the raucous one at Edgbaston last week. We’d had chants of “Eng-ger-land, Eng-ger-land” by now there.

At Lord’s there’s a smartly dressed hum. It’s no less special.

The Long Room is absolutely packed, as you would expect. Generous applause for the players as they make their way through and out onto the field.

More applause for Kevin Pietersen as he rings the five-minute bell.

It's time for the anthems and then, with leaden skies overhead and the floodlights on, Jimmy Anderson and co will have a chance to get stuck into the Australia top-order with the new ball!

I got the tube here this morning from my flat this morning and there was that buzz and hum. Just seeing it drizzling before, looking at Australia's team selection, it looks like it could be England's day today.

Anderson and Broad with the new ball this morning could be devastating.

    Thanks, Tom.

I have good news to bring you straightaway: the cover is coming off!

It is being kept not far away from the cut strip but it is off and, with 10 minutes until the scheduled start, the stumps are being put in.

The cover is still in place, though we have not heard anything about a delay - yet.

It is time for me to take a break though. So here to guide you through the first session is Sam Drury.
