This is not a good sign for England. Something has happened and it's not immediately obvious.

Back-to-back boundaries to start the Ollie Robinson over.
Both short and both pulled away by Mitchell Marsh.
Worst than that for England is that Robinson is taking his cap and jumper and walking off the field.
He's not limping but it doesn't look good.

This is a very dangerous counter-attack.
Head 34, Marsh 59
Just as I was typing that it had been another solid over from Moeen Ali, he ends it with a low full toss that Travis Head gratefully slaps between mid-off and extra cover for four.
Australia are scoring at a tick above four an over. This outfield is really giving batters value for their shots.

I'm seeing enough out there and in the pitch to think England will keep creating chances. It is just whether they can take them.
Signs of frustration from Ollie Robinson as Mitchell Marsh pats the ball back to him.
The England bowl snatches at the ball and hurls it back towards the stumps.
This partnership is just what Australia needed but it is irksome in the extreme for England.

People need to calm down. We've had a wonderful morning session. One more wicket and we're firmly back in control.

Ollie Robinson replaces Mark Wood, whose spell ends at three overs.
A pull shot from Travis Head is in the gap between the two fielders on the boundary and neither of them seem to pick it up so it's four more for the left-hander.

There was a huge cheer from the Western Terrace when Moeen Ali took off his jumper to get ready to bowl.
They have been a bit subdued for the past half an hour as Australia racked up the runs - apart from two Aussie fans next to me in comedy cork hats. They are loving it.
Good start from Moeen Ali.
No significant turn for the off-spinner but you wouldn't expect there to be on day one of a Test match.
Decent areas, though, and a false shot drawn from Travis Head.

That's not a chance.
It makes me laugh. Travis Head has got exactly where you'd want to be as a batter today, he's battled through and got the off-spinner on. I was always told to just keep the spinner on and knock it around.
It's a really ugly innings from him at the moment. He's played all sorts of shots, but he's still out there.
Nearly!
Travis Head goes back to cut, the ball is far too close to him and it flies off the outside edge.
It's past Joe Root at slip before he can move! Four runs but Head is struggling for any sort of rhythm.

Travis Head might think of hitting a few here.
It'll be interesting to see what Ben Stokes' field is here. It looks like he's already got some protection out, which we asked for at Edgbaston.
According to CricViz's captaincy grid, Moeen Ali is England's best option to bowl at Travis Head.
Two boundaries in the over. For all that there is pace in the wicket and a bit of swing, too, the ball is coming onto the bat nicely and the outfield is lightning.
Time for a change of tact from England. Moeen Ali is coming on to bowl the next over.

This is a fantastic cricket wicket.

Andy just pointed out that was 93mph, it was about 103mph going back the other way. What a shot!
Mark Wood is still bowling very quickly by Mitchell Marsh has got his eye in now and crashes a 93mph delivery through mid-off for four.
Remarkable shot. Worrying times for England.

Josh Land: Losing the initiative here...

Like at the first day at Lord's it is just the chances.
You've got Australia in precarious position but to drop two really easy chances and then one more difficult one.
It is costing England. It leaves Australia in a position to get 250-300 in the first innings.
