    WICKETpublished at 5.2 overs

    Brook c Smith b Cummins 2 (Eng 22-2)

    Argh. England are in trouble.

He'd played and missed on a few occasions but Harry Brook's luck runs out as he edges to Steve Smith at second slip.

It's a simple catch and England are teetering.

This is a testing little session here, the Australia bowlers are just starting to settle into their line and length.

If England can get through without losing any more wickets that'll be good for them.

  4. Eng 22-1published at 5 overs

Mitchell Starc beats the outside edge of both Harry Brook and Zak Crawley, but the pair survive.

Starc has a little smile in Crawley's direction.

I must add that text from Steve came before Ben Duckett was out.

    I can't confirm if he's still positive.

For the first time in the series I'm feeling positive.

These conditions do feel like they suit Pat Cummins here.

  8. Eng 19-1published at 4 overs

Just seeing a replay of the Ben Duckett dismissal. Alex Carey basically wedges the ball between his nose and edge of the gloves to keep hold of it. It's not the cleanest of takes but they all count.

Pat Cummins starts short to Harry Brook, and he doesn't play it totally convincingly. The Aussie captain also manages to slide one past Brook's outside edge.

It could be a nervy 75 minutes till close.

Harry Brook, on his home ground, strides to the middle.

It is the first time he's batted at three in Test cricket, but he's getting the opportunity after Ollie Pope was ruled out for the rest of the summer with a shoulder injury.

Brook was targeted by, and struggled against, the short ball against Lord's. Will Australia go short straight way?

That was a good ball to leave but Duckett has this thing he doesn't want to leave any ball, but what a good catch!

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.2 overs

    Duckett c Carey b Cummins 2 (Eng 18-1)

    Uh oh!

Ben Duckett looks to cut away (he probably could have left it) but the ball was far too close to him for the shot.

He gets a healthy edge and Alex Carey flies to take a really good catch in front of first slip, high to his left.

That's quite the ambitious shot from Crawley.

  13. Eng 18-0published at 3 overs

Streaky from Zak Crawley but he picks up four more with a thick edge that flies over third slip.

A loose drive sees Crawley beaten between bat and pad.

It's always lively when he's batting.

Mark Wood's bowling today reminded me of Mitchell Johnson in 2013.

Went into a meeting with Australia on 244 - 5. Looks like I've missed quite a bit...

  17. Eng 12-0published at 2 overs

I know they've done this throughout the series but Australia are just giving England runs here.

Ben Duckett gets off the mark with a nudge out to deep square leg, before Zak Crawley moves into the double figures with the same shot.

  18. Eng 10-0published at 1.4 overs

This is a good positive start from Zak Crawley.

He follows the boundary with a push for two through mid-off, before working a single into mid-wicket.

  19. Eng 7-0published at 1.2 overs

    Shot!

Zak Crawley takes a step down the pitch and flicks Pat Cummins away between fine leg and deep square for the first boundary.

    Lovely placement and timing.

Pat Cummins is roundly booed as he takes the ball and prepares to bowl.

Headingley is not forgetting Lord's in a hurry.
