The cover is being wheeled on to the pitch. It’s not raining yet but I wonder if the groundstaff know what’s coming.
There is a rather dark cloud hovering menacingly in the distance and the wind is picking up.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like the covers are being hastily moved into position at Headingley.
It's certainly looking quite dark over there now.
If you missed any of the action from day two at Headingley, our Ashes digest has you covered.
All the key information in one place, as well as the odd thing that you may have missed.

ZaltzQuiz: I guess the number is more tests than he's actually played and obviously divisible by 14 so 168?
Simon, Kent
I'm not sure if Alastair Cook has scored 14 sixes in his entire test career! So 200 Ashes tests?
Anon
I’m thinking about one six every 12 tests or so. So 168.

Good morning from a cloudy, humid and (most importantly) dry Headingley.
Lots of speculation about if or when the wet weather will arrive. Some say we will not see anything until lunch, others say it has been raining 20 minutes away and it is on its way.
For now though the covers are off and the groundstaff are busy working on the square.

An alternative weather app has no rain from 13:00. Fingers crossed.
Jon, Stafford
Other weather apps!?! I simply will not hear of it, Jon!
(But, yes, that is correct. There are more positive forecasts for the afternoon now. Even they have only changed in the past hour or so.)

Zaltzquiz. I'm going with a nice round 1,000.
James, in currently sunny (but not for much longer) Glossop
Let's be kind and say Ali Cook (to his mates) hit 1 six every 3 test matches - he'd therefore have to play 42 matches to match Ben Stokes.
Jordan, Southport
Cook’s Test matches sixes question… 1,110, a tenfold Nelson.
Will from Market Harborough
A reminder that today's ZaltzQuiz question is...
Ben Stokes has hit 14 sixes in his last two innings – an Ashes record nine at Lord's, and five more yesterday at Headingley.
Alastair Cook was, it is fair to say, not most renowned for his six-hitting in his 161-Test, 12,472-run career.
Based on Cook's sixes-per-match record in Ashes cricket, how many Tests against Australia would he have to play to hit as many sixes as Stokes has clobbered in the last week?
It was a big day for these two yesterday.
Having got themselves set up with a nice vantage point overlooking Headingley, they were interviewed - on the roof - by Channel Nine on Australian TV.
With thundery showers expected today, they may have to rethink their plans for today!
David Warner is on borrowed time, then, if the Australian papers are anything to go by.
Here he is being dismissed by Stuart Broad for the 17th time in Test cricket.
If Broad gets him three more times, it would be a new Test record but will he get the chance?

Up with my 8 month old. I'm going to say 90 Tests.
Jordan in Colchester
I think I know how many 6's Chef hit in his test career so I'm going to say 489 Tests.
Anand, Banstead.
I don't think Cook ever hit an Ashes six so the answer is infinity...
Robert, Snarestone
Last one and it's back to David Warner.
Jackson Barrett in the West Australian believes it is time for the opener to be taken out of the firing line after being undone by Stuart Broad for a 17th time yesterday.
Sentiment only goes so far in cricket.
If Australia don’t want to put an end to David Warner’s career, they need to park him for the rest of the series and if this one is his last, that decision rests with him.
Because while there are few things you can count on in this wild, fluctuating month of sporting mayhem, one thing that is for sure is that Stuart Broad will have the new ball in hand at Old Trafford and again at The Oval.
Staying with The Australian and Tim Paine has played a big part in Alex Carey's success in this Ashes series.
That's according to Tim Paine.
The former Australia skipper believes Carey has been a "difference maker" in the series so far and has revealed a private phone call between the pair that helped prepare the wicketkeeper.
“I just told him that I found England to be a similar place to India to wicketkeep,” Paine said.
“I just said to him there will be a lot of talk about the wobble and the movement after the stumps … but the important thing is to not let that get in your head."
David Warner is also the focus in The Australian with Gideon Haigh writing that Australia have 10 days to decide his future.
Cummins might have the Indian sign on Root, Broad must have a virtual voodoo doll for Warner, now with seventeen pins.
Australia has ten days to decide his future. Could they possibly leave him out for Old Trafford? It would be like the Huns dropping Attila.
Be honest, you didn't expect any Attila the Hun references this morning, did you?
Time for a look the Australian papers now and first up is The Age, where Malcolm Conn focuses on David Warner after he was dismissed - yet again - by Stuart Broad.
Conn writes: "Broad’s father, Chris, a former England cricketer who is now a match referee, added to the spice by tweeting a picture of Warner’s head transposed onto Bart Simpson’s body, writing over and over on a blackboard: 'Stuart Broad has got me out again'."
He adds that "the left-hander’s record against Broad could eventually spell trouble for Warner’s dream of a Sydney farewell in January", having announced his plans to retire from Test cricket at the end of the Australian summer.

Just set out of the house and it’s already raining. Lovely.

False alarm, the sun is out! Looks the order of the day.
Jason in Wakefield, again
Do keep us updated, Jason...
Speaking of that forecast - I've mentioned the weather a couple of times already and this is why...
Based on the current outlook, any play that is possible on day three will be a bonus.
These things can change quickly, though, so maybe it will improve?

A superb day 3 from Bairstow required or we'll see Foakes come in next Test, surely?
Ian S
I wouldn't count on it, Ian, but you never know. I doubt Jonny Bairstow will be dropped, so it's just whether England decide to take the gloves off him.
As for a superb day three, based on the forecast, that might just mean getting through some tricky Sudoku puzzles...
