That is it for the day's entertainment then, after a rather soggy end to the day around the country, all except at Scarborough. But then they are a contrary lot up there and like to do things to do a bit differently.

Last night, Scarborough was the only place where they weren't playing - first to be called off for the day.

This evening, it was the only place where they were playing - and was for the whole of the final session.

Well played Jonathan Doidge, Martin Emmerson and friends for keeping us all entertained for as long as they did on the solo BBC commentary.

It has all left us with plenty well worth tuning in for tomorrow.

Southampton has today overtaken Edgbaston as this week's wicket-taking capital - 26 scalps to 24.

In-form Durham opener Alex Lees is eyeing up even more bat-stats as he homes in a century for the third innings in a row - and a fourth in as many games.

Leaders Surrey are eyeing up another win.

And, like Middlesex, the other occupants of the bottom three, Kent and Northants, are both well in their respective games, at Trent Bridge and Old Trafford.

And that is now official.

Play is called off - a day dominated by Adam Lyth and Alex Lees, Yorkshire's long-time opening partners.

Another ton for the Tykes for Lyth and hopefully one to follow tomorrow for Durham star Lees, against his old club. He closes on 65 out of the Div Two leaders' 106-1.

Umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and Surendiran Shanmugam have conferred again and decided the light has now deteriorated sufficiently for them to take the players off.

That'll be stumps - though Scarborough has done well to outlast every other County Championship venue today!

Alex Lees is well-placed on 65 not out, with Scott Borthwick 29 and Durham trail by 234.

Perhaps in the light of the, er, light being a concern, Yorkshire have brought on George Hill whose medium pace is a little more palatable at this stage of the day.

Hill starts off with a maiden, though, and Jordan Thompson almost causes Scott Borthwick a moment of alarm, with the ball flying off the edge but wide of the slips and enabling Durham to add two more to the total.

Another good over from Matt Fisher, who gets one to rear up and whizz past Scott Borthwick's outside edge.

Borthwick's also troubled by a ball from Jordan Thompson that digs back into him and catches him on the upper thigh.

The runs have slowed to a trickle, with Borthwick on 27 and Alex Lees on 63. But the Durham pair won't mind that too much, provided they can get through to stumps unscathed.

Yorks 340 v Durham 100-1

Scott Borthwick lifts the Durham total into three figures, crunching an off-side boundary off Jordan Thompson, who's just come back to replace Ben Coad.

The umpires have another look at the light, but again we're carrying on for now. In theory, there are 14 overs remaining tonight.

Ben Coad won't have enjoyed being hit back over his head for six by Alex Lees - and his former Yorkshire team-mate has just played a very similar shot again, although this time it crossed the rope on the bounce.

Meanwhile the umpires have checked the light levels, deciding they're good enough to continue for now. The implication being, however, that it may not be the case for much longer.

Last week Durham opener Alex Lees was the first player in the country to reach 1,000 runs this year.

He went into this game with 1,087. That came on the back of four centuries in five innings and today he's reached a half-century against his former club, which came in 64 balls.

Earlier Durham bowled Yorkshire out for 340. They lost their last seven wickets in 25 overs for 128 runs. The rot set in when Adam Lyth was out for 111 just after lunch.

Light may well be an issue again today though, as it was last night. The wind has switched and is now blowing from the south, sending quite a lot of murk our way too. It's also got a tad chilly.

Matt Fisher returns to the Yorkshire attack, replacing Mark Steketee, and his first over of this spell is a fiery one, with a couple of bouncers that give Scott Borthwick something to think about.

The Durham captain has more joy against Ben Coad, punching him off the back foot for a couple and also survives an lbw appeal that looked to be sliding down the leg side.

Ben Coad has just sent down a maiden, but Mark Steketee is going for a few at the other end.

Scott Borthwick took eight from his previous over, moving on to 21 and he and Lees have now added 43 for this second wicket.

What a way to bring up your half-century!

Alex Lees gets there from 64 balls, slamming Ben Coad over the top for six.

Four hundreds in his previous five Championship innings and you certainly wouldn't bet against the ex-Yorkshire opener adding another here.

Lees has never actually made a Scarborough ton, but this is the fourth time he's passed 50 here.

And we're done for the day at Trent Bridge as well.

Kent will resume tomorrow at 11am on 102-2, replying to Nottinghamshire's 350.

Yorkshire 340 v Durham 63-1

Aussie bowler Mark Steketee is down after bowling one at Alex Lees, Mark Wood-style.

After taking a minute to compose himself, Steketee is able to resume his over.

A total of 26 wickets so far between Hampshire and Essex, but there won't be any more on day two.

That teatime downpour has prevented play from restarting, so we'll have to wait a while yet to find out which way this game is going.

It's fascinatingly poised, with Hampshire 73 ahead and four second-innings wickets standing. Scheduled resumption at 11am tomorrow.

So close to a second wicket for Yorkshire.

Durham skipper Scott Borthwick drives one wide of mid-off to get his team up to the 50 mark.

They are going at four runs an over, although the loss of Michael Jones has slowed them up a little bit.

That's it for today at Derby too.

Derbyshire's openers will head out there again tomorrow at 11am, still 426 runs behind Glamorgan's whopping 521-8 declared.

We have now official confirmation of what was obvious already - we will have no further play today.

Lancashire will resume tomorrow 221 runs behind Northants' first innings score.
