Aus 91-1published at 42 overs
A boundary!
It's more byes though as the ball swings past an Usman Khawaja pull and out of the grasp of Jonny Bairstow.
Australia's tail wags to take tourists to slender 12-run lead
Murphy and Cummins put on 49 for ninth wicket
Smith narrowly survives incredibly close run-out on 43, but holes out for 71
Root, Anderson & Broad all in the wickets as Australia fall from 115-2 to 185-7
Broad removes Khawaja and Head in magical post-lunch spell
In morning session, Labuschagne spectacularly caught by diving Root at first slip
Callum Matthews, Sam Drury and Timothy Abraham

BBC Sport at The Oval
I don't think we're too far off some heckles from the Oval crowd coming towards the Aussies. We're just not used to this anymore.
Glenn McGrath
Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special
I think you should only be allowed three referrals to change the ball. England have already done about 12.
I've got something to actually tell you!
Usman Khawaja picks up three with a drive through the covers before Stuart Broad, who again tried to get the ball changed in the over, beats his outside edge.
That brings a little hum from the crowd.

Silly to criticise Australia for playing boring cricket. As much entertainment as England have brought, Australia have retained the Ashes and clearly play to win.
Sam, London
Just because it might be the right thing to do to win the series doesn't mean it isn't dull, Sam...

The game is motoring along this morning. I don't think we could have two more contrasting starts to a day. Labuschagne and Khawaja are just waiting for England to bowl to them.

Add another to the maiden tally.
Australia's run-rate is 2.05 now.
Isa Guha
Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special
I totally agree.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
I wonder if England need to bowl fuller and get them driving the ball?
Chris Woakes will continue after the drinks break.
With Moeen Ali unlikely to be involved today due to a groin injury, England are without a frontline spin option. This morning, captain Ben Stokes was pictured bowling some off-spin in the warm-up. Could we see Stokes bowl some spin later today?

Could you possibly post an update letting us all know what time play is due to resume today? Because so far there's been zero cricket.

Aus 82-1
Time for a drink. Can we give Australia something to liven em up?
They've scored 21 runs in the first hour. There has been nine maidens so far today.
It's been pretty bleak watching.

If you had said to me after the first Test that Josh Tongue would not play another Test match, I'd say you would have been absolutely crackers. I don't know how he has not played another Test.
Another maiden for Chris Woakes.
It's no wonder it's quiet at The Oval.
Andy Zaltzman
Cricket statistician on Test Match Special
In the first 12 overs of the day, there have been 21 runs and just eight scoring shots.

I think, and they would never admit to this, that the wind has well and truly been taken out of England's sails by the weather at OT. And I think Australia are also completely drained and appear to be happy to draw this and win 2-1.
Niki, a bit sad with the whole thing in Oxford
Excitement for England. Twice in the same over.
First Stuart Broad gets one into the pads of Marnus Labuschagne but Ben Stokes immediately signals that it is sliding past leg stump.
Labuschagne then almost turns to Ben Duckett at leg slip but it falls a few inches short.

Do you remember when Greece won the Euros in 2004? Australia have been like that and while they've not won it yet, they've ensured they are going home with it.
A single apiece for Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne.
Michael Vaughan is debating if Australia's "Snoozeball" or England's "Bazball" approach is the best.
