How is Labuschagne changing his bat? He hasn't hit one yet!

Another maiden technically, but Australia do pick up four byes as Mark Wood fires one down the leg side and Jonny Bairstow isn't able to gather.
Marnus Labuschagne just blocks and leaves the rest of the over. He's very unhappy with his bat too.

Si: Be nice if Australia tried to score some runs.

It's five maidens in a row, 10 maidens in the last 12 overs that Australia have faced.

That's a belter. You can see Jimmy's face, he's thinking "I've been doing this for 20 years," they normally get nicked.
Oh beauty from Jimmy Anderson. A bit of bounce surprises Usman Khawaja and his bottom hand comes off the bat as the ball flies through to Jonny Bairstow.
When your luck is out, your luck is out.
Over the years that would have caught the edge countless times.
Three maidens to start.

Work call overran so rushing to the ground and likely to miss the first couple of overs. Should ensure a couple of early wickets for England...

Back-to-back maidens to start.
No immediate sign of Australia changing their approach.

You just need someone like Woody or Jimmy to just get a couple of quick wickets and wake everyone up a bit.
Interesting.
It's going to be Mark Wood from the other end.

There's some bounce, there's some nip. That was a nice over.
A maiden to start from Jimmy Anderson.
He draws a little poke from Usman Khawaja but the ball slides past the outside edge.
There's also a little bit of bounce but Khawaja is able to shoulder arms and let it go through.
Kumar Dharmasena has shown some common sense and calls play.
Usman Khawaja defends the first ball of the day.
Jimmy Anderson is ready.
The batters are ready.
But it's 10:58 BST, so we can't start.
We're going to stand and wait.

I think Australia will grind their way past England today. It's one of those scores that if Australia get a few partnerships they can quickly get up to the score and go beyond it. Marnus Labuschagne is going to be key. If he still there I think he is going to look to go on and get a hundred and get Australia over the line.
Thanks Tim.
A crucial day in the Test.
How many times have we said that over the last six weeks?
It's just not quite been James Anderson's series so far, but hopefully he can hit his straps today.
Rest assured he'll certainly be at his grumpy best until he gets his name in the wickets' column in this Test match.
Speaking of Ante Meridiem irascibility, someone else who also got out of the wrong side of bed this morning is Callum Matthews, and he will guide you through the morning session.

Whatever happens today, can we please banish any further comments bashing Jimmy Anderson and writing him off? He has had several wickets dropped, he has applied so much pressure at one end all series that his partners have flourished, and he is still one of the best three pace bowlers we can put into the side. Ben backs him, so should we all, he has certainly earned that right.

James Anderson is already out there, ahead of his England team-mates, going through a few final warm-ups before play starts. It looks like he could be bowling first up.
