    Surrey 259-4 v Warwicks

Cameron Steel continues to grow in confidence and a flowing cover drive brings him four at the end of the latest Will Rhodes over.

He is now 33 not out and has added 72 with Ben Foakes, who has 68.

Another horrendous run out for the hosts.

So similar to the earlier dismissal of Emilio Gay, this time Tom Taylor gets thumped on the pads by Will Williams, who appeals for lbw.

Taylor sets off in pursuit of a leg bye but sees Lewis McManus sending him back when he's already a couple of strides down the track and by the time he's turned and headed back to his crease the bails had been whipped off by Phil Salt after another throw from Dane Vilas.

Jack White joins McManus in the middle. Still well shy of a batting bonus point.

  3. Division Two updatepublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Eight down for Gloucestershire at Grace Road as Chris Wright has Harry Tector lbw with the next to last ball of the 65th over.

Zaman Akhter finds the boundary at the start of the next, but the visitors are 150-8 against Leicestershire.

Dom Bess and Jordan Thompson are looking to get on with it for Yorkshire against Derbyshire at Scarborough. A flurry of fours has taken the home side to 239-7 in the 68th over.

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 211-7 v Lancashire

Will WIlliams cannot look at George Bell.

The bowler has found the edge of Lewis McManus' bat but Bell has shelled a routine catch from his widish first slip position.

Can McManus make Bell pay? He's on 24.

  5. First batting point for Surreypublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 250-4 v Warwicks

Ben Foakes tucks Henry Brookes into the leg-side for a single and Surrey's total reaches 250.

Warwickshire need three or four wickets in this season, having opted to put Surrey in at the start of play.

BBC WM Sport's Richard Wilford described Will Rhodes as a "creative captain" earlier in the day and he needs to live up to that now in a game they really must win to stay in the title picture.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Van Beek c & b Carlson 53published at 16:06 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Worcs 211-7 v Glamorgan

'If you need something doing, do it yourself'.

That, presumably, was Kiran Carlson's thought process - the Glamorgan captain brought himself on to bowl just after tea and he's rewarded as Logan van Beek drills a half-volley back for a low return catch.

The visitors badly needed that wicket to break Worcestershire's seventh-wicket stand of 101.

  7. wicket

WICKET Brown c Rew b Gregory 4published at 16:04 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Hampshire 172-6 v Somerset

Lewis Gregory has bowled beautifully today - as accurate and about as miserly as they come - and now he's added his second wicket.

Ben Brown feathers one behind and that brings James Fuller to the middle to join Liam Dawson.

for Liam Dawsonpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Hampshire 172-5 v Somerset

Liam Dawson sweeps Shoaib Bashir to the boundary to bring up his half-century from 111 balls.

It's the sixth time Dawson has passed 50 this season, converting one of those into a ton. Hampshire certainly wouldn't mind him reaching three figures again this time.

    Tom Alsop makes another half-century

Just the one four in this 105-ball knock but a very useful one under the circumstances. Keeping a cool head while others are losing theirs.

When was the last time three Toms at the top of the order all scored a half-century? Answers on a postcard to #bbccricket please.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Carter c Jones b Drissell 32published at 16:00 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 211-5

Another soft one. He has played nicely but Oli Carter has mis-timed the ball straight to Michael Jones at mid-on, trying to sweep the ball into the leg side. Very avoidable. Another lack of patience.

    Fynn Hudson-Prentice joins Tom Alsop.

  11. for Anuj Dalpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Yorks 213-7 v Derbys

No half-century for Jonny Tattersall at Scarborough as he edges Anuj Dal to keeper Brooke Guest on 45.

Not the best of shots - he was cashing a wide one - but Dal won't care about that as he completes an excellent five-for.

That is also Guest's fifth dismissal of the innings, one short of his personal best against Worcestershire last summer.

  12. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Hampshire 165-5 v Somerset

Back under way after tea and Somerset hand the ball to Shoaib Bashir, who concedes a single to Liam Dawson but then rattles through the rest of his over.

Dawson needs six more for a half-century as he and Ben Brown attempt to rebuild Hampshire's innings.

  13. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 206-7 v Lancashire

Streaky four for Lewis McManus who flashes a thick edge off Will Williams past the flying fielder at gully and away to the rope.

He moves onto 20, Northants are 44 shy of a bonus point.

  14. Postpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 237-4 v Warwicks

Danny Briggs resumes for Warwickshire. Three singles collected from that one by Ben Foakes and Cameron Steel as they post a 50 partnership.

  15. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 234-4 v Warwicks

A bit of swing for Henry Brookes in the first over after tea at The Oval, but Ben Foakes plays it late and dabs down to third man for four.

The next one is a wide and Brookes then strays outside leg stump and Foakes tickles it away for another boundary.

Inconsistency is the reason Brookes has 0-55 from eight overs so far. Foakes is now 59 not out.

  16. 200 runs

up for Sussexpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 200-4

...in the 66th over. They will want as many batting bonus points as possible to aid their quest for promotion alongside their hosts (barring something pretty extraordinary).

They are 50 runs away with six wickets in hand and 44 overs in which to do it.

  17. Balderson has partnership-breaking habitpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 201-7 v Lancs - tea

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

George Balderson is developing into a fine all-rounder for Lancashire.

Already north of 500 runs for the season, having made his maiden first-class ton a few weeks ago, he's now closing in on 20 wickets for the season.

A former England under 19s captain, he's already skippered the first team in the showcase game against Cumbria before the start of the One-Day Cup.

Lancashire think highly of the 22 year-old who is a stylish batter, with a classical technique and has a very handy habit of breaking partnerships and taking wickets in clusters.

  18. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 197-4

George Drissell is convinced he's trapped Oli Carter lbw, the ball looks like it's hit him on the back thigh, but Jack Shantry is again unbowed by the massive appeal.

Carter has 22 with Tom Alsop on 46 but the hosts have already cranked the pressure back up after the tea interval.

  20. Tea at Grace Roadpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Leicestershire v Gloucestershire 145-7

Harry Tector survives the final over of the afternoon at Grace Road, bowled by Wiaan Mulder.

It's been very much Leicestershire's session, with six wickets taken, and Tom Scriven has superb figures of 3-20 from 14 overs.

Chris Dent fell to Scriven for 51, but Tector is still there on 18.
