  1. wicket

WICKET: Keogh b Williams 19published at 14:08 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 134-4 v Lancashire

Stumps splayed. Will Williams has a wicket to show for his toil as he's drawn Rob Keogh forward only to feather an inside edge through the gate onto his own middle stump.

Lancashire back in charge. Saif Zaib is the new batter, joining Sam Whiteman whose importance grows in significance once more.

  2. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 134-3 v Lancashire

Sam Whiteman has cut George Balderson to the fence with aplomb to move to 63 from 97 balls.

That's 10 fours and a six for the Aussie and he's hauled Northants back to at least parity. Rob Keogh has a less flashy 19 from 53 at the other end.

  3. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Hampshire 114-4 v Somerset

Hampshire have become rather bogged down since they lost those two wickets in quick succession.

Nick Gubbins has added just six to his lunchtime total, although the home side really need him to make sure he occupies the crease for some time yet.

Lewis Gregory's kept it tight, conceding just 17 from his 11 overs so far and Neil Wagner is back on now, with Hampshire also struggling to get the left-armer away.

    Surrey 143-3 v Warwicks

Batting orthodoxy is now the order of the day at The Oval.

Ben Foakes tucks Chris Rushworth away for four and then repeats the stroke at the start of the seamer's next over.

    To add to Rushworth's pain, it's also a no-ball.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Gloucestershire have lost their third wicket against Leicestershire - and it's the second of the afternoon for Wiaan Mulder, who had Miles Hammond lbw for eight.

The visitors are 93-3 after 40 overs and in need of a substantial partnership.

There has also been a wicket at Scarborough where George Hill has edged Derbyshire's George Scrimshaw to the keeper. Yorkshire are 129-4 in the 41st after being asked to bat first.

  6. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 133-2

Massive appeal from Ben Raine who is convinced he's got his 50th pole of the summer, and the prized scalp of skipper Cheteshwar Pujara at that.

Umpire Jack Shantry is having none of it and shakes his head, despite Pujara looking pretty sheepish.

    Durham have their tails up.

  7. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 132-3 v Warwicks

Good news for Warwickshire - Sam Hain is back on the field.

Another over ticks by and it's another good one by Ed Barnard.

Just a single to Dom Sibley from it. Meanwhile, Ben Foakes has faced 11 balls and is still on nought.

  8. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 118-3 v Lancashire

Sam Whiteman tries to play across the line, glancing the ball into the leg side... one problem, he doesn't make contact and takes the ball full on the pads.

Another lung-busting appeal from Tom Bailey but another no from the umpire.

Whiteman's ridden his luck on several occasions against Bailey. This one might have been drifting down leg too.

  9. wicket

WICKET Hose c Ingram b McIlroy 43published at 13:53 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Worcs 110-6 v Glamorgan

Oh dear, apologies to Adam Hose for commenting on how well he'd batted... the Worcestershire batter has just got himself out to a poor shot.

No real need for Hose to slash at that one outside off stump, but he did and Colin Ingram stretches above his head to take the catch at second slip and provide Jamie McIlroy with a third wicket.

Glamorgan very much on top now, you feel.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Clark c Potts b Parkinson 58published at 13:51 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 130-2

Matt Parkinson's first ball brings a wicket.

The on-loan Lancashire and future Kent leggy draws Clark forward but he can only glance the ball off an edge staight to Matthew Potts at slip.

An inspired bowling change and Durham have two new faces at the crease, Tom Alsop and some chap named Cheteshwar Pujara. Let's see if he can play. I have my suspicions...

  12. wicket

WICKET Smith b Barnard 60published at 13:46 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 130-3 v Warwicks

Warwickshire are convinced Dom Sibley has nicked through to the keeper - except he didn't.

Sibley takes a quick single and is fortunate that Henry Brookes' throw did not hit the stumps at the bowler's end.

Ed Barnard finally has his reward, though, as he cleans up Jamie Smith with a superb inswinging delivery to end Surrey's third-wicket stand on 99.

    Up next, Ben Foakes.

  13. wicket

WICKET Kashif Ali c Byrom b McIlroy 9published at 13:43 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Worcs 103-5 v Glamorgan

Pretty much a rerun of Azhar Ali's dismissal this morning as Kashif Ali drives Jamie McIlroy rather tamely into the hands of midwicket.

Eddie Byrom accepts the chance and Glamorgan are getting back on top at New Road. They'd love to add the wicket of Adam Hose, who's batted well for his 39 not out.

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Leicestershire's man of the moment Wiaan Mulder produces a magnificent leg-cutter to bowl Ollie Price for 11 at Grace Road.

Gloucestershire are 77-2 in the 37th over and Miles Hammond has joined Chris Dent, who is 32 not out.

George Hill cuts Anuj Dal behind point for four and Yorkshire are 124-3 in the 37th over against Derbyshire at Scarborough.

  15. Hain concern for Bearspublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 125-2 v Warwicks

BBC WM Sport's Richard Wilford is worried about the fitness of Warwickshire's Sam Hain, who has had a hamstring problem recently.

Hain had a few words with the umpire and has now gone off the field for some treatment.

The last over was a maiden from Ed Barnard to Dom Sibley, who has lapsed back into his early morning defensive mode.

We're going to have a ball change - will that have any impact on the progress of this stand?

  16. 50 runs

for Sam Whitemanpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Northants 114-3 v Lancashire

In his last match for Northants before returning Down Under, Whiteman is putting the team on his shoulders and has cracked three straight boundaries (the last off a no-ball) to reach 50 from 71 balls - the last of which was cut supremely past gully to the fence.

He's now hit eight fours and that monster six before lunch and is leading the recovery after Lancashire hauled themselves on top.

  17. wicket

WICKET Prest lbw b Brooks 0published at 13:29 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Hampshire 95-4 v Somerset

Jack Brooks (Somerset)Image source, Getty Images

Two in two overs now for Somerset!

Tom Prest departs for a duck, trapped in front by an inswinging yorker from Jack Brooks - and Hampshire are in a bit of trouble now.

Liam Dawson emerges to try and stem this flow of wickets.

  18. 50 runs

for Tom Clarkpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 110-1

He was dropped by Ollie Robinson on 22 but Tom Clark has his half-century.

He squirts one past gully off Bas de Leede to reach the milestone off 99 balls with four fours.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Haines c Parkinson b Raine 51published at 13:25 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Durham v Sussex 110-1

    What a catch!

Matt Parkinson has run at least 30 yards at full pelt from deep square to fine leg to dive forward and catch Tom Haines' attempted pull shot.

Stunning cricket. That's Ben Raine's 49th wicket of the season.

Haines is on his way but there's another left-handed Tom waiting in the wings... Tom Alsop joins Tom Clark.

  20. Postpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Surrey 120-2 v Warwicks

For once, Ed Barnard gets his line wrong and Jamie Smith is able to tickle the ball down fine for an easy boundary - the ninth of his innings.

He is 55 not out and Dom Sibley now has 37.
