Beautiful violence from Tom Bailey who has clobbered back-to-back sixes off Tom Taylor, the second of which has left Wantage Road.

His 10th half-century comes up in 67 balls with six fours and that maximum.

The 32-year-old is suddenly onto 63* and might have an eye on his career best of 75.

    Two in three balls!

A mini-collapse for Glamorgan on the stroke of lunch, and Kiran Carlson joins Sam Northeast to try navigate this tricky period.

Luke Charlesworth comes in to start his third over but that's short and wide and is cut away for four by Lewis Hill.

Striving for a yorker, he doesn't quite get it right and Hill whips the ball away to the mid-wicket boundary.

He next one is also full of length and Hill steers is past mid-on for the third four of a very productive over. He is 28 not out.

If you have been following events closely at Grace Road, you will know that Zaman Akhter is on a hat-trick of sorts, having taken wickets with his final two balls of the Leicestershire first innings.

That's a good delivery first up, but Lewis Hill avoids getting a touch and then picks up a single to give the strike to Colin Ackermann, who is fortunate to see an inside edge just miss the stumps to end the over.

There was no Championship cricket played in August but Surrey clearly didn't lose their edge during the hiatus.

Victory over Warwickshire has pushed their points total beyond 200, but is winning the title now a formality with two games left to play?

What do you think, Surrey and Essex fans?

After 29 straight dot balls, John Simpson carves Simon Harmer to the ropes for the first runs off the South African spinner.

Max Holden flays Umesh Yadav away to begin the next over. That's consecutive boundaries and more runs in one minute than the previous half-hour combined.

    The lead is 242.

  11. Durham declare at Riversidepublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 505-9 dec v Sussex

A single by George Drissell is the final scoring stroke of Durham's first innings as Scott Borthwick decides to give his bowlers a chance to pick up one or two wickets before lunch and declares.

Henry Crocombe is thus denied a potential five-for and finishes with figures of 4-93.

Bas de Leede completed his maiden Championship century for Durham during the morning and Graham Clark made 128 - the Division Two leaders are 239 ahead.

  12. Durham reach 500published at 12:00 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 505-9 v Sussex 266

It's true to say - we assume - that there haven't been many column inches written about the batting ability of George Drissell.

But the Durham number 11 lifts a ball from Henry Crocombe back over the bowler's head for four as the Durham total pases 500.

Emboldened by that, Drissell strokes the next ball through the covers for another four.

Balderson is on to 113, just three shy of his first-class best.

More good news for Middlesex... Indian quick Umesh Yadav is coming on to bowl at the other end from Harmer for the first time in England.

By my count the 35-year-old is one wicket away from 1,000 in senior cricket, 288 of them coming in international cricket.

Middlesex are still 277 behind with six wickets remaining.
