  1. wicket

WICKET Potts c Carter b Crocombe 6published at 11:41 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 494-8 v Sussex 266

It's a been a successful morning for Henry Crocombe, who has taken all three Durham wickets to fall.

England's Matthew Potts tries to drive but there is enough swing to take the edge and Oli Carter does the rest.

Graham Clark is still there on 127 not out but is running out of partners.

  2. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Leics 11-2 v Gloucs - target 168

Colin Ackermann clips Josh Shaw off his toes. He hasn't got on top of it but it just eludes the left hand of Zafar Gohar at square leg and runs away for four.

Ackermann is off the mark, but that wasn't the most convincing way to do it.

To give you an idea of how patient George Balderson was, he was on 91 when Tom Bailey came in. Bailey is currently on 32 from 43 deliveries.

The Lancashire lead is up to 217. They will be eyeing an innings win here, no doubt.

  4. wicket

WICKET Masood c&b Thomson 86published at 11:37 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 & 242-4 v 247

Shan Masood has oozed class all morning, and looked nailed-on for a hundred at Scarborough, but a stunning catch from Alex Thomson has him heading back to the pavilion.

Masood charges the bowling, and smashes one inches off the ground back towards the bowler. Thomson sticks out a right hand and somehow clings on low down.

Earlier on, James Wharton fell to Sam Conners, but Derbyshire are still in a pretty sticky spot.

Yorkshire now lead by 292, with George Hill and Jonny Tattersall at the crease.

  5. dropped catch

Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Essex 304 v Middlesex 27-4

Simon Harmer is coming on to bowl the 11th over.

Sam Cook found the edge of John Simpson's bat with the final ball of the previous over but it dropped a yard short of Harmer at second slip.

The pressure is well and truly on for the visitors.

It only took Surrey four overs to complete an innings win over Warwickshire earlier on. Here's a full report of the brief proceedings on day three at The Oval.

for George Baldersonpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Northants 232 v Lancs 446-8

After spending 13 overs in the 90s, the 22-year-old left-hander has finally posted his second first-class century, and what a fine innings it has been. There will be many more.

He has shown patience and maturity beyond his years, especially in a very watchful last hour, as well as some lovely shots, and has helped Lancashire into a commanding position.

His century came from 218 balls, 13 of which found the ropes.

After an age on 99 Balderson narrowly beats a scambling throw from a fielder running in from cover and off comes the helmet and up goes the bat.

  8. wicket

WICKET Budinger c Bracey b Shaw 3published at 11:29 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Leics 7-2 v Gloucs - target 168

    Another batting error by Leicestershire.

Sol Budinger attempts to square cut an angled ball from Josh Shaw, but doesn't move his back foot across and wicketkeeper James Bracey takes a good low catch.

Gloucestershire haven't give up on this one - and they have an extra incentive after losing to Leicestershire in the One-Day Cup semis.

  9. wicket

WICKET Byrom lbw b Leach 0published at 11:29 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Glamorgan 3-1 v Worcs - target 260

Not an ideal start for Glamorgan in this fourth innings chase.

Eddie Byrom shuffles across his stumps, and Joe Leach, who has been taking the ball away from the left-hander, nips one back and traps him bang in front.

Just one run in the game for Byrom, who won't remember this one with fondness.

  10. wicket

WICKET Raine c Coles b Crocombe 5published at 11:27 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 480-7 v Sussex 266

Two in successive overs for Henry Crocombe as Ben Raine tries to pull a short one and top edges to James Coles at mid-wicket.

A bit of a soft dismissal, that one, but Durham are 214 ahead, so it's unlikely to worry them.

  11. wicket

WICKET Patel c Bracey b Shaw 1published at 11:25 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Leics 4-1 v Gloucs - target 168

So Rishi Patel won't be reaching 1,00 runs for the season of this match.

The Leicestershire opener drives at a wide one from Josh Shaw and is caught behind.

He knows he shouldn't have been lured into that shot and is clearly annoyed with himself as he walks off.

  12. wicket

WICKET Davies lbw b Cook 5published at 11:22 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Essex 304 v Middlesex 25-4

Sam Cook gets in on the act.

Cook zips one through to crash into Jack Davies' pads. He can have no complaints.

The procession continues. John Simpson is the new batter.

  13. Maximum batting points again for Durhampublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 474-6 v Sussex 266

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Graham Clark and Bas de Leede added more than 200 runs for Durham's sixth wicket, both making their highest scores for the club in the process.

Clark has 119 and De Leede was out for 103 - the delivery after reaching his century. They steered Durham to maximum batting points as well. It's the seventh time this season.

Their best year with the bat, in terms of bonus points, was in 2009 when they earned 49. They have 45 so far this season with two games to go.

Durham were 265-5 when De Leede joined Clark just before tea yesterday and they trailed by one run. They were 206 ahead by the time De Leede was out. The sun continues to shine, so I am not sure we will see a declaration any time soon.

  14. wicket

WICKET Albert c&b Wagner 31published at 11:20 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Hants 308 & 89-2 v Somerset 137

Neil Wagner is bowling as Neil Wagner does, whole-heartedly.

The Kiwi seamer has run in tirelessly this morning, and gets his reward, as Toby Albert gets a leading edge back to the bowler.

The Hampshire opener was trying to work that into the leg-side instead of playing it back down the ground.

  15. wicket

WICKET Robson b Porter 10published at 11:19 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

3-7 for Jamie Porter. Sam Robson comes forward but is bowled through the gate and off-stump goes flying

Porter is in the zone here.

Middlesex are in deep trouble. Max Holden joins Jack Davies in the firing line, I mean middle.

  16. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Leics 3-0 v Gloucs - target 168

They only need 168 but Leicestershire will surely not go hell for leather for their target on a pitch which has offered help for the seamers throughout the two and a bit days.

Just a couple of singles off the bat and a leg bye in the first two overs, bowled by Josh Shaw and Dom Goodman.

  17. wicket

WICKET De Leede c Carter b Crocombe 103published at 11:17 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 472-6 v Sussex 266

One delivery after becoming Durham's third centurion of the innings, Basball comes to an end.

Bas de Leede pushes at a ball from Henry Crocombe which leaves him off the pitch and it's a comfortable catch for keeper Oli Carter.

He put on 207 with Graham Clark and the lead is 206.

  18. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Northants 232 v Lancs 424-8

George Balderson faced 11 deliveries while on 94 but he never looked particularly nervous and eventually clipped a single into the leg side off Jack White to move to 95 and retain the strike.

The lead is up to 192.

  19. 100 runs

for Bas de Leedepublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 472-5 v Sussex 266

There it is - a boundary to third man off Henry Crocombe carried Bas de Leede to a maiden Championship century for Durham.

It has taken him 137 balls and that was his eighth boundary, to go with one six.

According to Google translate, 'Well batted' is 'Goed geslagen' in Dutch.

  20. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 5 September 2023

    Durham 468-5 v Sussex 266

Bas de Leede strokes another boundary off Jaydev Unadkat and moves to 99 not out.

"He does have a century recently, for the Netherlands in a World Cup qualifer," says BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson.

Graham Clark edges the first ball of the next over, bowled by Ari Karvelas, between the slips for four to reach 116 not out - and that is a 200 partnership for the pair.
