    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 170-2

Good start for Glamorgan in Cardiff.

50 runs added so far by Eddie Byrom (74) and Sam Northeast (66), who has gone to a timely fourth first-class half-century of the season.

Yorkshire's lead has now been whittled back to only 57. It looks increasingly like the Tykes will have to bat again.

    Lancs 398-6 v Middx 194

    First bowling change.

Jayant Yadav is on and George Bell goes for a reverse sweep and gets a single.

The seventh wicket pair trade singles until the last ball, which Bell clips out to deep mid wicket for two.

Shot! Tom Hartley is down the track to Ryan Higgins, flat-batting the Middlesex bowler down the ground for four.

The seventh-wicket pair pick up seven more runs in singles and Lancashire are within touching distance of a fourth batting point.

    Northants 250 & 24-0, Warwickshire 147-4 dec

Warwickshire might have the joke bowlers on but Northants openers Hassan Azad and Emilio Gay have at least properly played themselves in.

It took unti the fourth over for the first boundary to be hit in those first 24 balls of Burgess and Yates. But they are starting to move things on now.

The Bears have felt the need to explain what's going off out there on Twitter.

"The captains have clearly agreed a fourth innings chase to encourage a winning result. Northants were -5 on over rate and wanted to get to parity before a declaration", it said.

    Lancs 382-6 v Middx 194

Geroge Bell is playing his best and certainly his biggest innings for Lancashire to date.

His previous highest score was 60.

He rolls his wrists to work Higgins into the on side for one to move on to 82.

Tom Hartley leaves the ball outside off.

Lancashire have scored 51 runs since the resumption for the loss of George Balderson.

    Sussex v Leicestershire 268-3 - target 499

Sussex targeted a big first hour... well, it's not quite working out that way. Leicestershire are 45 runs closer to their mammoth target of 499.

Colin Ackermann has ground his way to 119* while Umar Amin is unbeaten on 92.

Sussex desperately need that new ball, but it's still five overs away.

    Glos 377 & 7-0 v Derbys 403

Sam Conners is round the wicket to Ben Charlesworth who drives and gets a thick edge through to the off side for one.

Chris Dent sees out the over defending.

It looks like both teams are fairly content to play out the draw here.

Old fashioned attrition here. Not "Bazball."

  7. Northants back in at Edgbastonpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250 & 1-0, Warwickshire 147-4 dec

Northants openers Emilio Gay and Hassan Azad are back out in the middle.

And Warwickshire wicketkeeper Michael Burgess has whipped off his pads to bowl the first over, which includes two bouncers and only one run.

Next to bowl from the Pavilion End is mystery spinner Rob Yates.

    Lancs 368-6 v Middx 194

Lancashire are on for about 60 runs in the first hour here - if they choose to bat for that long.

Tom Hartley runs Ryan Higgins down to third man for a comfortable single.

A chance for George Bell to get a maiden Lancashire ton?

Bell drives very close to Josh de Caires at backward point and gets away with a single. Loose shot and he punches the back of his bat in frustration.

15 overs left with bonus points in play.

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 177-5

There is activity in the middle in Canterbury... the ground staff are whipping the covers off as the leaden skies turn more silvery.

The rescheduled start is due at 11.20 with 13 overs lost.

  10. Gloucestershire begin their second innings at Bristolpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 0-0 v Derbys 403

Ben Charlesworth and Chris Dent will start the innings for Gloucestershire.

Sam Conners will bowl to Charlesworth.

A whirlwind innings and an afternoon declaration to come?

    Don't count on it!

George Balderson is trying to force the pace with a flashing off drive, but he's stuck on the crease and undone by extra bounce, edging the ball to the Middlesex Keeper, John Simpson.

    Tom Hartley to bat next.

  12. Bears declare at Edgbastonpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250, Warwickshire 147-4 dec

Well here's a shock in Birmingham.

    Warwickshire have declared.

Looks like both sides are keen to make a game of it, although that doesn't explain why the Bears came out and blocked for 20 minutes. Unless it's down to a slow over rate, maybe?

Actuially, this is the explanation. Northants were down on their over rate - and they bowled 11 overs in 20 minutes to make it up.

    Farical either way really.

But really it's just nice to see an attempt to get a game of cricket come to a hopefully entertaning conclusion.

  13. Postpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 363-5 v Middx 194

Ethan Bamber drops short and George Bell moves on to 68 with a pull to the fine leg boundary for four.

He's in his second season for Lancashire and this is his highest first-class score to date.

Six runs off the over in total.

Ryan Higgins is over the wicket to George Bell, who carves the bowler through the off side and scampers a well run two.

A single off the fifth ball.

  14. Tidy start for Leicestershire at Hovepublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex 262 & 344-9 dec, Leicestershire 243-3

Leicestershire pair Colin Ackermann and Umar Amin are off to a tidy start as they continue their run chase at Hove.

22 added this morning so far - and now almost halfway to their target of 499.

  15. Five-wicket haul for Zafar Goharpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

The wicket of Pat Brown gives left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar figures of 5-122 in 39.4 overs.

    And they have done.

A six-ball duck for Pat Brown, who is forward to block Zafar Gohar and is pinned in front of middle stump halfway up.

The innings lead is a fairly academic 26 runs.

  17. Derbyshire pass 400 at Bristolpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 403-9

Gloucestershire are deploying spin at both ends here and Derbyshire move past the 400 mark via a Leus du Plooy swat over mid wicket for four off the bowling of Ed Middleton.

Can't see a declaration here. Gloucestershire will need to bowl them out.

  18. Postpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 348-5 v Middx 194

George Bell runs Higgins down to third man for four, playing away from his body but along the ground and wide of the slips.

Ethan Bamber is on at the James Anderson End and George Balderson nails a drive through extra cover for four.

Lancashire aren't hanging about here. They don't have time to.

Balderson punches Bamber down the ground for four more.

Four byes off the fifth ball and Lancashire runs are flowing.

  19. Late start at Canterburypublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 177-5

After having the best of the weather all week, surprisingly, Canterbury is the only place where they are not playing.

Only expected to be a short delay though.

    We will keep you posted.

  20. Final day begins at Bristolpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 398-9

Something extraordinary would have to happen for anything other than a draw here.

Derbyshire fell just short of a fourth batting point yesterday.

Ed Middleton got his maiden first-class wicket in what was the last ball of day three and also of the 110th over, giving Gloucestershire three bowling points.

Derbyshire captain and centurion Leus du Plooy will face spinner Zafar Gohar first up. He's on 103.

His batting partner Pat Brown is yet to face a ball.
