  1. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 35-1

Middlesex make it through to lunch for the loss of Sam Robson.

A couple of awkward moments for Joe Cracknell, who inside edged past the stumps twice in the session, but the Middlesex number three survives and will bat on this afternoon with Mark Stoneman.

Realistically, the visiting team have to bat out 68 overs for the draw.

  2. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 346-6 - target 499

Sussex will be tucking into their grub feeling more relaxed that they might have envisioned a little earlier.

The three priceless wickets they have picked up in 15 overs across this session - Colin Ackermann (136), Umar Amin (94) and Rehan Ahmed (29) currently look more significant than the 125 runs the visitors have edged closer to their target of 499 this morning.

They need 153 more, it's not out of the question, but much rests on the shoulders of Ben Cox (20*).

Whatever happens this has been a stunning advert for Championship cricket.

  3. Lunch in Cardiffpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 230-3

Sam Northeast goes to lunch in Cardiff just 12 short of what would be only a second century of an under-par season.

He has lost only opener Eddie Byrom for 101 this morning, following their 178-run stand, bowled reverse sweeping by Dom Bess.

The other not-out batsman is Kiran Carlson on 11.

  4. wicket

WICKET Bracey c Madsen b Thomson 8published at 12:33 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 83-2 v Derbys 403

A lovely, flighted ball from Alex Thomson, bowling with two slips, a leg slip and a short leg.

James Bracey is forward to defend and edges a low catch to Wayne Madsen at first slip.

  5. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 31-1

Joe Cracknell picks up a second and much more convincing boundary with a chop through the vacant third man region for four off the bowling of Tom Bailey.

His first four was an inside edge past the stumps.

Luke Wood is in the attack and Stoneman takes a single with a clip to backward square.

  6. NORTHANTS DECLARE AT EDGBASTONpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250 & 72-0 dec, Warwickshire 147-4 dec

    And there we have it.

Northants have declared 10 minutes before lunch on 72-0

Thr Warwickshire target, when they resume at 1.10, will be 176 in a minimum of 60 overs.

It might seem outwardly rather generous.

But this has not been an easy track to score quickly on, Northants realistically have to win this game to stay up - and they had to take a chance.

And also, Warwickshire are bang out of form on the batting front.

  7. 50 runs

partnership for Nottspublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 232-7

... in just over eight overs.

Brett Hutton has contributed 45 of them.

    It's spitting.

    The lead is 51.

Bowling change coming up, but it's not spin. Joey Evison gets the ball with his medium pace.

  8. Northants bat onpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250 & 70-0, Warwickshire 147-4 dec

Northants openers Emilio Gay and Hassan Azad are showing no sign of any hurry here as lunch approaches, having made only 70 in 22 overs against the combined bowling might of Rob Yates, Michael Burgess and Dan Mousley.

You would imagine a pre-conceived Bears target has been pre-agreed.

  9. Postpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 75-1 v Derbys 403

Steady progress for Gloucestershire, who are batting out time.

James Bracey gets his first boundary with a confident sweep past short leg off the bowling of Mark Watt.

Maiden from Alex Thomson at the other end.

  10. wicket

WICKET Rehan Ahmed c Carter b Unadkat 29published at 12:18 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 333-6 - target 499

Huge wicket. Rehan Ahmed had played nicely for his 29 and the target is down to 166 but he's hung his bat out and offered an outside edge chance which Oli Carter has taken smartly down low to his right.

    Jaydev Unadkat has his second.

Tom Scriven joins Ben Cox (16*).

  11. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 221-7

Joe Clarke has scored three runs this morning.

Brett Hutton has 40 from 39 balls with seven fours.

Kent have no answer to his aggression.

There are also clouds gathering over Canterbury... a Shakespearean background?

The points swing from a potential innings win combined with a Middlesex defeat at Old Trafford, compared to two draws is absolutely huge. That's a thought Kent fans will have itching away at the back of their minds at present.

  12. Postpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 25-1

Mark Stoneman gets three runs off Will Williams, opening the face of the bat and running the bowler down to third man.

Joe Cracknell gets away with another inside edge past the stumps.

Cracknell works the last ball of the over off his hips down to fine leg for two.

    Nervous times for Middlesex.

  13. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 19-1

    Close!

Joe Cracknell is stuck on the crease as he gets an inside edge past the stumps off Will Williams and the ball runs away to fine leg for four runs.

    Good length from the bowler.

Mark Stoneman leaves Tom Bailey outside off stump.

He's beaten outside off by the last ball but survives the over.

  14. wicket

    WICKET B Charlesworth b Watt 27published at 12:08 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 68-1 v Derbys 403

Mark Watt is bowling with a slip, leg slip and short leg.

Ben Charlesworth is undone by a reverse sweep, which he bottom edges into the stumps.

    James Bracey is in next.

  15. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 212-7

24 runs in the space of 11 balls for Brett Hutton who is onto 31 already. Five of those balls have found the rope.

Hutton frustrated Kent for two hours in the first innings... Kent simply cannot afford to let him linger that long this time.

    The lead is 31.

How long before Kent return to spin?

  16. wicket

WICKET Robson c Williams b Bailey 6published at 12:02 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 14-1

Lancashire break through in the fifth over.

Lift and movement for Tom Bailey.

Sam Robson is squared up by and edges off the shoulder of the bat to Will Willams at third slip.

    Peach of a delivery.

The Middlesex number three is Joe Cracknell.

  17. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 196-7

Nathan Gilchrist just a little off-target allowing Brett Hutton to flash consecutive balls to the rope, the first through cover and the second through gully.

The Notts lead is up to 15. As Matt Cole of BBC Radio Kent has just reminded everyone, Kent were actually dismissed for 85 in 21 overs at Trent Bridge in the reverse fixture in July.

    This game is not over.

  18. wicket

WICKET Byrom b Bess 101published at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 208-2

Eddie Byrom is gone - and a door opens for Yorkshire.

An attempt to reverse sweep fails and Dom Bess pegs back his off stump.

That ends his stand of 178 with Sam Northeast.

Kiran Carlson is the new man in.

  19. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 60-0 v Derbys 403

A Luis Reece no ball, bowling to Ben Charlesworth, takes Gloucestershire to 50 without loss in 14 overs.

Charlesworth picks up his fifth boundary with a drive through cover off the same bowler for four.

Four more runs to Chris Dent with a lofted drive to long on off the bowling of Mark Watt.

  20. 100 runs

Century for Eddie Byrompublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 208-2

Eddie Byrom completes his century. Only his third for Glamorgan.

His first of the season. 192 balls. 17 fours.

Having been joined by Sam Northeast at 30-2 with their team in trouble, this has been an excellent effort.

Northeast deserves three figures too. But will he get there?
