  1. wicket

WICKET Cracknell LBW b Hartley 33published at 14:15 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 71-3

    Lancashire have three!

Five balls after going don the trak to Tom Hartley, belting the spinner down the ground for six, Joe Cracknell is halfway forward, playing around a very full ball.

He's struck on the pad in front of middle stump.

It's a slow walk back to the dressing room for the Middlesex number three.

The new batter is Stevie Eskinazi.

Middlesex are still 148 in arrears.

    Glos 377 & 120-5 v Derbys 403

Given the clatter of top order wickets this afternoon, we could be in for a much later finish than we might have expected this morning.

Graeme van Buuren steps back and across to leg and cuts spinner Alex Thomson away for a rare boundary. Four runs.

    Too short.

Four more pulled round the corner past leg slip to fine leg.

  3. 6 runs

for Brett Huttonpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 295-7

Nathan Gilchrist tries another bouncer at Brett Hutton who pulls to long leg where Michael Hogan is lurking, but cannot take the catch, instead merely helping the ball over the rope for a maximum.

The Notts lead is 114 and finally, Aron Nijjar is introduced into the attack.

  4. wicket

WICKET Carlson c Tattersall b Cliff 52published at 14:09 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 305-4

Suddenly a glimmer of hope for Yorkshire.

Glamorgan lead the Tykes by 78, but have lost a fourth wicket.

Straight after completing 1,000 first-class runs for the season, Kiran Carlson edges a catch down the leg side to keeper Jonny Tattersall - and that earns Tykes debutant Ben Cliff his first wicket.

Billy Root is the new man in. He got a shocker in the first innings and will be looking to atone.

  5. 50 runs

for Tom Scrivenpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 398-6 - target 499

...from 62 balls with eight fours and a six. In just 67 minutes.

A fifth for the 24-year-old who carved away Jack Carson into the off side.

The runs required is very close to double figures.

    What a match.

  6. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 61-2

Tom Hartley is over the wicket, bowling full outside the off stump.

The fourth ball is driven through point for four runs.

Middlesex need a partnership here. Can they bat out the day?

  7. Sanderson still steaming inpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Warwickshire 29-5 (chasing 176 to beat Northants)

Ben Sanderson has now been steaming in for seven overs.

But he has now gone 16 balls since his last wicket.

How much longer can he go on for?

His figures currently stand at 7-0-16-4.

But, more importantly, it is the first hat-trick for Northants since Andrew Hall in 2010 - and the first at Edgbaston since Gareth Batty for Surrey in 2019.

The Surrey coach might enjoy that one on his day off.

  8. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 51-2

Will Williams replaces Tom Bailey in the attack.

He bowls a full length wide of off stump and Jack Davies leaves.

    Maiden over.

  9. 100 runs

partnership for Nottspublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 284-7

Notts lead by 99 after this century stand between Joe Clarke (103*) and Brett Hutton, who has 63 of them from 82 balls.

Kent are yet to turn to spin but surely, surely it can't be too long before they try something different.

Even if they got all three wickets right now Kent will need more than two an over to secure victory.

  10. wicket

    WICKET O Price c Lamb b Thomson 14published at 13:57 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 111-5 v Derbys 403

    Perhaps they can!

Alex Thomson has his third scalp. An unusual dismissal.

Ollie Price gets himself out, top edging a reverse sweep.

The ball thuds into the gloves of keeper Brooke Guest, almost hitting him in the face, and loops up in the air to Matt Lamb at short leg.

    Zafar Gohar is in next.

  11. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 109-4 v Derbys 403

Unsurprisingly, the run rate has almost flat-lined for Gloucestershire since losing their fourth wicket.

Just one run an over since that point.

52 overs left in the day's play.

    Derbyshire couldn't - could they?

  12. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 50-2

Jack Davies is off the mark first ball with a fortuitous edge through first slip for four runs, taking Middlesex to 50 in 19.5 overs.

    How did that get through?

Keaton Jennings is very close to the keeper at first slip.

A nervous start for the Middlesex number four.

  13. 6 runs

for Tom Scrivenpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 376-6 - target 499

Leicestershire are within 123 runs of the finish line after a lusty straight six from Tom Scriven off spinner Jack Carson which thumps onto the roof of the commentary home of BBC Radio Sussex's Adrian Harms.

    Sure it was nothing personal.

Scriven has 37 from 50 balls.

  14. wicket

WICKET Yates c Nair b Sanderson 6published at 13:49 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Warwickshire 24-5, chasing 176 to win

Rob Yates is the latest to go as Ben Sanderson gets his fourth wicket.

He attempts a drive and is snaffled by Karun Nair again at slip - the first Bears batsman to go to an attacking shot.

Michael Burgess comes in to join Ed Barnard.

  15. 100 runs

for Joe Clarkepublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 274-7

He's been in the middle for nearly 80 overs, coming to the crease before tea on day three, but Joe Clarke has finally reached three figures with a boundary off Michael Hogan.

More than four hours and 40 minutes, 222 balls and 15 fours later and he has a 20th first-class century.

Just how crucial it is, only time will tell.

    The lead is 93.

  16. wicket

WICKET Stoneman LBW b Hartley 17published at 13:44 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 46-2

Trouble for Middlesex, still 173 adrift.

Spinner Tom Hartley strikes in his second over.

Good line, flight and dip on the line of off stump as Mark Stoneman is forward to block.

He's struck on the pad and the umpire raises the finger.

The new batter is Jack Davies.

  17. wicket

WICKET Hammond c Came b Thomsonpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 104-4 v Derbys 403

Well now! Are things beginning to happen for Derbyshire here?

They have four wickets in 34 overs.

    Gloucestershire are only 78 ahead.

Four balls after Ollie Price takes Gloucestershire to 100 with a front foot push through the off side, Miles Hammond is forward to defend and gets a wafer thin edge to Harry Came at second slip.

Good, low catch as the second slipper tumbles to the left.

Alex Thomson has his second wicket.

The new batter is Gloucester captain Graeme van Buuren.

  18. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 44-1

News of hat trick for Northants bowler Ben Sanderson won't go down well with Middlesex here, particularly if Northants win and Middlesex don't leave Old Trafford with a draw.

That would close the gap a bit.

Joe Cracknell moves on to 20 with a cut through the off side.

Just the one run from the 18th over.

  19. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 367-6 - target 499

Tom Scriven has overtaken Ben Cox. He has 28 from 36 balls with five fours. Cox is on 22 from 61.

    Tension is rising.

The Foxes need 132 more runs.

    They couldn't, could they?

Sussex are going to return to a bit of spin as the clouds drift over the coast.

  20. Postpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 260-7

A rare maiden for Kent, from Nathan Gilchrist. Four of the last five scoring shots have been boundaries, however.

Joe Clarke is onto 88 and Brett Hutton on 55 and these two have put on 80 for the eighth wicket.

The lead is 79 and they are in no jeopardy whatsoever.
