    Northants 250 & 70-2 dec, Warwickshire 147-4 dec & 19-4

Dan Mousley is caught at fourth slip, by Tom Taylor off Ben Sanderson, also first ball.

It's another bad Bears batting collapse.

Ed Barnard is the new man in - and successfully defends a straight hat-trick ball.

It is Sanderson's first hat-trick in first-class cricket.

  2. Two sessions to shape Middlesex's seasonpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 43-1

    Scott Read
BBC Radio Lancashire at Old Trafford

The final two sessions could go a long way to shaping the season for Middlesex.

After being 5-19 on the opening day, leaving Manchester with a draw would give them a significant and much needed lift heading into the final two matches.

If they can bat through two sessions, they'll have something to build on and it will keep them in the fight to avoid relegation.

Their batting has been fragile all season and if it flakes away in the final 69 overs today, it's going to be a long way back.

WICKET Hain b Sanderson 0published at 13:30 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    . . . And exit Sam Hain.

Warwickshire's main man, making his last Bears appearance of the season after en England ODI call-up, is out first ball.

Ben Sanderson is on a hat-trick.

Dan Mousley comes in, hurriedly making a few last-minute readjustments.

He must be pushing the two minutes here!!!

Century for Sam Northeastpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 273 & 281-3

Sam Northeast's second century of the summer.

It could go a long way to saving this game for Glamorgan.

    They lead by 54 now.

  7. 250 runs

up for Nottspublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 250-7

The sun has come out. The lead is up to 69. Brett Hutton has a ninth four and is on 55*.

Kent fans have an uneasy feeling.

60-odd overs in the day will mean very little unless the hosts can find these three final wickets.

  8. Postpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 39-1

Might Middlesex have one eye on the Notts batting resistance at Canterbury?

Three slips in for Tom Bailey and Joe Cracknell is driving on the front foot to mid on. No run.

65 overs left in the day.

  9. Postpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 87-3 v Derbys 403

The new batter is Miles Hammond, who is off the mark second ball with a front foot drive through the off side for four.

Can Derbyshire get on a roll from here?

    The lead is only 62.

  10. 50 runs

for Brett Huttonpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 241-7

A run-a-ball half-century for Hutton, brought up with a rare single off Nathan Gilchrist.

That's a sixth for the 30-year-old who has eight fours and is only 24 short of a career-best red-ball knock.

Playing like this he could do that in an over.

    The lead is 60.

WICKET Dent b Watt 38published at 13:16 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 83-3 v Derbys 403

Derbyshire strike three balls into the session!

Chris Dent is forward, beaten by the flight and bowled while trying to defend.

  12. Postpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 347-6 - target 499

Back underway at Hove. Ben Cox and Tom Scriven are facing a fired-up Ari Karvelas.

152 runs needed for a win for the ages.

  13. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 35-1

Where's your money for this game? On a draw?

    A Lancashire win?

    In your pocket?

Mark Stoneman and Joe Cracknell will start the session with the bat.

    Stoneman to face Tom Bailey.

  14. Play resumes at Bristolpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 83-2 v Derbys 403

Derbyshire are doing their best to hurry this game along and will be buoyed by the wicket of James Bracey just before the break.

Gloucestershire lead by a slender 57.

Chris Dent will bat on with new batter, Ollie Price.

Mark Watt will bowl to Dent.

  15. wicket

WICKET Brathwaite b White 8published at 13:07 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250 & 72-0 dec, Warwickshire 147-4 dec & 10-1

    Oh Hello . . .

Kraigg Brathwaite greets Jack White with a straight drive for four, for his second boundary.

But next ball, he then gets beaten by a good delivery which just moves away enough to clip the off stump - and Northants suddenly have hope.

166 to win. And the new man in is skipper Will Rhodes, the man who contrived the double declaration with fellow skipper Luke Procter.

Interesting that it was a Lancastrian, Procter, and a Yorkshireman, Rhodes, who did the deal.

You can pretty much guarantee that would never have happened in a Roses Match!

  16. Back on in Brumpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Northants 250 & 72-0 dec, Warwickshire 147-4 dec & 5-0

    So, here we go.

Warwickshire openers Rob Yates and Kraigg Brathwaite begin the final innings of the match.

A deperate act of folly by desperate Northants?

Or an inspired piece of captaincy?

The proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

Yates takes a single to long leg off Ben Sanderson's first ball, before Brathwaite clips his fifth delivery though midwicket to the short Eric Hollies Stand for four.

  17. Foxes are not out of thispublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 346-6 - target 499

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

With Leicestershire having reached 288 -3 and needing another 211 to win, the Sussex skipper Cheteshwar Pujara was probably pleased that a new ball was available in five balls.

However Jack Carson suddenly turned the game on its head, taking two wickets in an over and ending a magnificent partnership of 180 between Colin Ackemann and Umar Amin, shifting the balance firmly back in Sussex’s favour.

Leicestershire are not out of this, but 153 to win on a used fourth day pitch is a huge ask with the new ball just seven overs old.

  19. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446, Notts 265 & 235-7

A rain-shortened session closes with nobody sitting very comfortably at lunch.

Notts have pushed into a 54-run lead thanks to a bustling knock from Brett Hutton while Joe Clarke has improved his overnight 61 by just nine runs in batting through his second entire session.

Michael Hogan completed his fivefer and ousted Lyndon James and Calvin Harrison in successive balls but Kent need three more wickets as quickly as possible on a cloudy day in Canterbury. Do their spinners hold the key?

Another rip-snorting Championship match, however it finishes.

  20. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 83-2 v Derbys 403

And with the wicket of James Bracey, Gloucestershire go into lunch.

No lack of intent from Derbyshire, with some aggressive field settings for the spinners throughout.

But a draw is still by far the most likely outcome here.
