    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 135-3

A bit of a hold up in play where Stevie Eskinazi appears to signal to the away dressing room for gloves and gets a drink instead!

That's two trips for 12th man.

Kent are two down in five overs at Canterbury chasing 168 and the stars appear to be aligning for Middlesex at the moment.

    Maiden over for Tom Hartley.

21 overs left in the game.

  2. SUSSEX BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY 15 RUNSpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Leicestershire 483 v Sussex - target 499

Jaydev Unadkat finishes with 6-94 after bowling Chris Wright with a fine yorker for 21.

That does not tell the whole story. After being skittled for 108 on the second morning and facing a monstrous 499 to win on a day four pitch at Hove, the Foxes have come within a whisker of one of the greatest run chases in Championship cricket history.

Sussex pick up their second win of the season and first since April while Worcestershire are the real winners as their closest rivals lose ground in the promotion race.

    What a match.

    Kent 28-2 v Notts - target 168

    Everyone is on the fence.

    Leicestershire need 16.

  5. wicket

WICKET Root b Wharton 45published at 16:09 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Yorks 500, Glamorgan 273 & 396-5

Yorkshire's little-used spinner James Wharton comes on for only his second bowl in first-class cricket - and promptly gets his maiden wicket.

He rips one past Billy Root - and the Yorkshireman is bowled.

Root misses out on a third 50 against his native county - and it levers Chris Cooke, the next batsman, from the comfort of his chair in the pavilion to face the last few balls of a moribund match.

And Tykes skipper Shan Masood must be wondering why he didn't turn to the wily Wharton sooner.

  6. 6 runs

for Tawanda Muyeyepublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 28-1 v Notts - target 168

Tawanda Muyeye picks up Asitha Fernando for a monstrous six into the seats over midwicket.

50 for Jack Daviespublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 130-3

He's not had the best of seasons, but Jack Davies has played a vital hand for Middlesex today.

His first 50 of the season comes off 120 balls via a full toss, whipped away on the front foot to wide mid on for his ninth four.

  8. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 200-6 v Derbys 403

A slice of luck for Ed Middleton.

Derbyshire spinner Mark Watt draws him forward, he edges a defensive push just short of first slip and the ball runs away for four.

That brings up the 200 in 66.5 overs.

  9. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 122-3

Now that Northants are two wickets away from victory and a Kent win at Canterbury can't be ruled out, it is ever more important for Middlesex to bat out this session.

Tom Hartley bowls a full toss and Jack Davies drives through cover for two runs.

The 50 partnership for the fourth wicket comes in 158 balls.

The Middlesex batter gets one more, dropping the ball into the off side.

  10. 6 runs

for Chris Wrightpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 480-9 - target 499

    BACK-TO-BACK MAXIMUMS FOR CHRIS WRIGHT.

    Fynn Hudson-Prentice is the victim.

The first is hoiked over deep midwicket while the next is deposited over long on.

    Leicestershire are within 19.

Wright is on 20 from 18 deliveries.

  11. wicket

WICKET Crawley c James b Paterson 4published at 15:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 6-1 v Notts - target 168

Two singles from the opening nine deliveries but Dane Paterson offers up some width and Zak Crawley flashes through the covers for four.

Very next ball.... he's gone... clipping down the throat of Lyndon James at deep square leg.

That is a huge dismissal in the context of this game.

162 still required from 30 overs and change.

    Daniel Bell-Drummond joins Tawanda Muyeye.

  12. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Lancs 413 v Middx 194 & 117-3

Jack Davies has plenty of company round the bat with a slip, leg slip, silly mid on and off.

Tom Bailey is persisting with off spin rather than seam.

The fourth ball is a bit wide of off and driven down the ground for four.

Stevie Eskinazi gets a single off the first ball of Tom Hartley's over and Jack Davies defends into the off side.

  13. wicket

WICKET Miles c Keogh b White 1published at 15:52 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Warwickshire 124-7 (chasing 176 to beat Northants)

Craig Miles goes for a yahoo off Jack White, skies one to extra cover and Rob Keogh eventually completes trhe catch.

OHD is the new man in, with 52 still needed.

    Home hopes fading.

  14. Postpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 0-0 v Notts - target 168

Zak Crawley walks out with.... not Ben Compton.

Tawanda Muyeye is promoted to open with time of the essence.

32 overs at more than five an over.

Asitha Fernando takes the new ball.

  15. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Glos 377 & 194-6 v Derbys 403

Anuj Dal is in the attack, angling the ball off the seam into Graeme van Buuren.

This Gloucestershire pair have looked largely untroubled in this session.

Van Buuren gets a single off the fifth ball.

The last ball is too leg side and and it runs away for a leg bye.

  16. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Sussex v Leicestershire 465-9 - target 499

34 runs needed after Chris Wright introduces himself to his future teammates with a cracking drive down the ground off Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

  17. wicket

WICKET Briggs lbw b Sanderson 24published at 15:47 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Warwickshire 123-7 (chasing 176 to beat Northants)

Ben Sanderson's return brings an end to Danny Briggs' 18-ball cameo.

He does not look happy with that lbw decision but it's in the book now.

Craig Miles comes out to join Michael Burgess, who is on 35, with 53 still needed.

  18. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Tom Hartley is bowling over the wicket and Jack Davies is forward, getting an inside edge that lands safely in front of short leg.

Now Jack Davies gets a bit of width outside off and gets forward and across to drive through cover for four.

Solid start for Middlesex since tea.

WICKET Fernando c Crawley b Chahal 0published at 15:39 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 348

It's all over. Joe Clarke is marooned on 141 after a stupendous effort.

Kent need 168 from 32 overs to win.

Yuzvendra Chahal finds the edge of Asitha Fernando's bat and Zak Crawley takes a smart low catch at slip.

The heavy roller is summoned as the sides are applauded off.
