There wasn't much control in that shot from Travis Head. If he keeps taking it on, the more he will get it.

    England will be paying attention.

    Aus 98-3published at 33.2 overs

    Top-edge! Six.

India are going to go after Travis Head with some more short stuff. Mohammed Siraj thinks this should have been caught on the boundary rope. It was a no-ball anyway.

  3. Aus 90-3published at 33 overs

    Labuschagne 35, Head 3

I don't believe that AB de Villiers struggles to do anything.

Ravindra Jadeja causes Travis Head one or two problems in an over that proves to be a maiden. The fact the surface is starting to turn makes it even more unlikely India can get out of this.

I once stood in line behind Nasser Hussain at a chippy in Chelmsford.

I helped AB de Villiers when he was struggling to return one of those rented bikes in Hyde Park. I played it cool.

If they can get Travis Head early, there is a very little opening in the game for India.

  7. Aus 87-3published at 31 overs

We're back in the 'if they just get a few more wickets here...' territory.

Marnus Labuschagne has just watched that from his big mate and, as if to prove a point, plays the solidest of forward defensive strokes next.

That was very strange from Steve Smith. He is so disciplined, looking like he was having a glorified net really.

    It really came from nowhere.

    Smith c Thakur b Jadeja 34 (Aus 86-3)

    What was that?!

Steve Smith has just played the worst shot I have ever seen him play. He has tried to charge Ravindra Jadeja and whack him off a length but has sliced the ball a mile in the air.

Shardul Thakur comes racing around to take the catch.

  12. Aus 86-2published at 30 overs

You make a very good point, Michael. He's not going to be happy with those Lord's members.

India are in defensive mode now. The field is spread with only one slip and a man on the drive as the catchers.

Labuschagne ends the over on his hands and knees after being hit in the box.

What will Smith make of Red for Ruth Strauss foundation day at Lord's?

    Michael in Lincolnshire

  14. Aus 86-2published at 29 overs

    Labuschagne 35, Smith 34

'Times I sold cricketers something' sounds like a great idea although a recipe for disaster.

I've seen some of my aunties and uncles less than I've seen Steve Smith bat in the last 10 years. Rohit Sharma has his hands on his head after Ravindra Jadeja's first over after the pause. I'm not sure why. There's little drama.

Billy Branfield: I once stood next to Geoff Boycott on the platform at Bristol Temple Meads. He was wearing a rather questionable blue hat.

Michael Park: Sold Dom Bess some sunnies when he was starting out at Somerset. He was off on a jaunt to Australia to play some club cricket. Nice guy.

Drinks come onto the field after a low-key over from Shardul Thakur.

India will be hoping theirs include some sort of magic potion.

We get some texts and tweets that I'm never sure whether to believe. Dean Headley playing a glockenspiel in a Sri Lankan hotel is one of them.

I once saw the great Dean Headley playing the glockenspiel in a Sri Lankan hotel. Who knew he was such an entertainer?
