Surprised to see the entire South Africa cricket team at the breakfast buffet whilst on my honeymoon in Antigua.

Saw Aaron Finch in Nando's in Leeds in his Yorkshire playing days, had to look twice!

After causing all of the problems before the break, Mohammed Siraj is back for another burst.

Steve Smith looks to have come out with the plan to try and press on the lead as quickly as possible. He knocks the ball into the leg side and is instantly rushing through in hope of a speedy couple. Only some good fielding denies him.

Steve Smith has faced nine balls and he's called for a change of gloves already! That is annoying for the 12th man.

  4. Aus 45-2published at 17 overs

    Lead by 218

India's fans were right up for it just a few minutes ago when Umesh Yadav dismissed Usman Khawaja. 21 runs have come in 17 balls since, however, with Smith and Labuschagne releasing the pressure brilliantly.

I can't imagine we will see any pitches like this during the Ashes.

They will be harder, truer. So that won't be as much of a concern for Australia's openers.

  6. Aus 44-2published at 16.3 overs

Steve Smith cracks away another off the back foot.

    This is dangerous for India.

It's one or four most of the time at The Oval if you can time it well like that.

That's the advantage of Labuschagne batting as far out of his crease as he is.

  8. Aus 40-2published at 16 overs

    Lead by 213

The danger end is the one Mohammed Shami is bowling from. That's where the uneven bounce has been. The balding India quick wastes the iffy surface in this over by banging one in halfway down and bowling another on Marnus Labuschagne's pads. Both deliveries are put away.

I'm not saying I'm the answer to England's problems or anything, but I did get Steve Smith out three times in three Tests in 2015.

Here if you need me, Ben.

  10. Aus 31-2published at 15 overs

    Labuschagne 12, Smith 3

    Rohit Sharma looks thoroughly unimpressed.

Umesh Yadav gives Marnus Labuschagne one on his hip to tuck away. That over started so well but ended up leaking a crucial seven runs.

As a bowler, you are always so tempted to swing one in at the pads when you see Steve Smith crabbing across his stumps in that way.

You think you've got him lbw but then he actually wants it there, and deals with it so easily.

Steve Smith is booed to the crease before flicking his first ball in trademark style to get off the mark.

Good bowling by Umesh Yadav. He's doing the workman job. It was fuller and wider than anything else he'd bowled since tea.

Khawaja has gone after it and nicked it! He couldn't resist the temptation this time!

That's a poor shot from Usman Khawaja. He has chased a wide one from Umesh Yadav and nicked it through to the keeper.

India's have the first of many wickets they need in this session.

  16. Aus 24-1published at 14 overs

Mohammed Shami looks like he's trying to do exactly what Finny says with a vicious bouncer which almost takes Marnus Labuschagne's head off.

Labuschagne has both feet off the ground, arching his back like a cobra as he evades the ball.

You get the sense, like in the match Jofra Archer hit Steve Smith in 2019, Labuschagne loves batting in situations like this.

When you're a quick bowler and you see at batter standing a foot outside his crease, you think, "I'm going to push him back." You take it as an affront.

  18. Aus 24-1published at 13 overs

    Khawaja 13, Labuschagne 8

Ajinkya Rahane is off the field currently with Axar Patel on in his place. Rahane was hit on the fingers last night and again today while batting. If we hear of an injury we'll let you know.

The over-rate has been consistently pathetic during this match and Usman Khawaja waves on another pair of gloves at the end of the second over of the session.

Mohammed Shami finds some of that uneven bounce and Marnus Labuschagne has to show off some sort of 1980s dance move to suck in his stomach, arch his back and let the ball pass by.

There are some great images of that pre-tea session...
