Look at Kohli's expressions. He is jumping about and clapping his hands. It is wonderfully exciting.

Realistically India need to bowl Australia out for 120 or 130.

  2. Aus 16-1published at 8 overs

Having constantly probed at the outside edge, and been pretty successful with it, Mohammed Siraj inexplicably attempts a bouncer but it's easily dispatched for four by Khawaja.

But it's a fine shot. The battle is bubbling away nicely.

David Warner played well in the first innings but the narrative will still be about his form. Having walked in his shoes, it is no fun waking up with people questioning your place in the team.

  4. Aus 12-1published at 7 overs

Virat Kohli waves his arms to the crowd, encouraging more noise.

The man loves a contest like this.

And we've certainly got a good one on our hands.

    Almost another run out!

This time the throw hits, but Labuschagne is safely home.

May want to start communicating, lads.

A group of us including myself, Matthew Hayden, Kumar Sangakkara and Sunil Gavaskar got the tube round London last night for dinner.

You should have seen the reaction of the India fans when they saw Sunil Gavaskar on the tube! It was a genuinely lovely 15-minute journey.

    Lead by 185

Short from Siraj and Usman Khawaja pulls confidently for four.

A fan in the crowd holds up a sign saying 'Marry Me, Shubman'.

To be honest, I think he's a bit pre-occupied dwelling on that missed run out to notice.

  9. Aus 8-1published at 5.3 overs

It's all happening! There's a run out waiting to happen, as both batters almost end up next to each other in the middle of the pitch...

But Shubman Gill throws to the wrong end.

    Opportunity missed.

    Wakey wakey, Marnus...

  11. Aus 5-1published at 5 overs

India are not going to back down here.

Mohammed Shami pins Khawaja on the pad, appeals optimistically but it's a bit high.

Shami follows it with a sharp bouncer that the batter ducks underneath, before an edge brings him two.

    Gripping stuff.

The ball clipped the bat handle before the hand. It has taken some of the impact. It was a nasty delivery that leapt from a length.

    That was a nasty ball.

    Ouch.

  14. ouch!

    Aus 2-1published at 4 overs

    That'll certainly wake Labuschagne up.

Siraj gets one to rear up nastily off a good length and pin Labuschagne on the arm, making him drop the bat.

What a contest this is already. Test cricket at its best, and the India fans in the crowd are well up for it.

Labuschagne has to wake up and come out to bat because Warner has nicked off.

    That was a loose shot.

    Warner c Bharat b Siraj 1 (Aus 2-1)

Well, he's going to have to wake up now!

Siraj beats Warner with two absolute beauties angles across him to start the over, and gets his reward with the third.

A loose drive from Warner is edged through to the keeper and India strike early.

  17. Aus 2-0published at 2.2 overs

Talk about having confidence in your openers.

Marnus Labuschagne, fully padded up, is having a nap on the balcony.

  18. Aus 2-0published at 3 overs

A cautious start from Australia's opening pair.

I guess you can afford that with a lead of 175 and more than two days' play left.

  19. Aus 1-0published at 2 overs

A maiden from Siraj, who is one of my favourite bowlers to watch.

Every ball is like an event.
