    Sciver-Brunt c Wareham b Jonassen 7 (Eng 51-3)

    Ah.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is normally so clinical through mid-wicket and long-on but she cloths this a little bit.

Georgia Wareham comes sliding in from the boundary, on her knees, and takes a really good catch.

That is a huge blow for England. Sciver-Brunt is their best and most aggressive batter.

  2. Eng 51-2published at 7.3 overs

    Oh, shot.

Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen comes on and third ball Nat Sciver-Brunt premeditates a reverse sweep and times it perfectly over point for her first boundary.

    Lovely shot.

Here's the crazy moment from the second over when Darcie Brown crashed a delivery into Danni Wyatt's off stump, but the bails bounced back into place.

  4. Eng 44-2published at 7 overs

England are having to rebuild slightly at the moment.

The pair of Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver-Brunt are crucial for England if they are going to win this game you would feel.

WinViz has them at 65% at the moment.

A bit too much excitement there, thinking that Australia dropped a catch.

We should know better by now. That never happens.

  6. Eng 42-2published at 6.3 overs

Georgia Wareham is just going to have a quick concussion check.

She attempts to take a catch at third, as Sophia Dunkley slices a drive, but Wareham doesn't quite there and the ball bounces up and catches her in the face.

    She's fine to continue though.

  7. Eng 41-2published at 6.2 overs

When Sophia Dunkley gets going she is a real delight to watch.

Darcie Brown drops short and Dunkley just latches onto it really quickly and crunches a pull into the mid-wicket boundary.

I say a pull, it was more like a swat.

In a week that's been pretty devastating for cricket, it is incredible to see this crowd and atmosphere for a women's match.

It's not quite sold out but there is a noise and a buzz out there that feels very special.

Every run is greeted by a roar, and there's a real sense of Ashes rivalry too - the Australian appeal was greeted by some boos.

It's going to be interesting to see how the teams cope with the occasion - England will love it, but I also sense that the Australians are going to enjoy it, rather than be intimidated.

  9. Eng 36-2published at 6 overs

A good end to the powerplay for England.

Dunkley is able to get down and slap Ash Gardner round for the corner for two fours in the over, before the opener and Nat Sciver-Brunt help themselves to a single apiece.

Australia will be pretty happy at the end of the powerplay though.

There is a lot of confusion up here in the commentary box.

Everyone was getting ready to start the next over!

I can only assume the bat has bounced up when she grounded it. She should never have been in that situation, in all honesty.

The crowd don't like this either!

Capsey run out (Brown) 3 (Eng 26-2)

She's gone! Brilliant from Darcie Brown!

Sophia Dunkley finds a fielder and Alice Capsey is a little slow to turn and get back to her crease at the non-striker's end.

She makes her ground, but the bat is in the air and Brown's direct hit means Capsey is a goner.

Alice Capsey was dawdling. This could be out. She had plenty of time to get back.

Is Alice Capsey's bat in the air?

Has Alice Capsey been run out at the non-striker's end?

    Australia look confident.

Ash Gardner has got her length perfect, she is really hard to come down the crease to.

She went for the highest amount in the WPL and she's proving why.

  19. Eng 24-1published at 4 overs

    Dunkley 14, Capsey 2

Ash Gardner, who effectively bowled Australia to victory in the Test with eight wickets in the second innings, is on with her off-spin.

She is fast becoming a star of the women's game, with the all-rounder getting £320,000 in the Women's Premier League earlier this year.

It's a tidy start with just four singles coming from the over.

Always fun seeing the fancy dress choices at Edgbaston. So far I've seen some Super Marios, some lifeguards, the Flintstones and a LOT of bucket hats.
