Brilliant catch by Carey, the Aussies haven't got it short enough to Duckett but that one was really steep. A crucial blow for England, a really good effort from Duckett. He's got his head down.

    Duckett c Carey b Hazlewood 83 (Eng 177-5)

Top-edged and caught behind! Breakthrough for Australia!

Josh Hazlewood got the short ball that much shorter, Ben Duckett takes it on as he has done throughout the innings and gets an edge.

It goes high but Alex Carey reaches up to take a very good one-handed catch.

A big moment for the tourists just after drinks, another good knock from Duckett but he falls short of a century again.

  3. Eng 175-4published at 45.2 overs

    Careful, Ben!

The England skipper pushes the ball towards mid-on and calls for another quick single.

Pat Cummins comes charging in and has a shy at Ben Duckett's end.

The England opener might just have been in but it would've been tight with a direct hit.

That would be a big blow for Australia if he is struggling. He did hobble away after taking that chunk out of the outfield a few overs back.

I promised my daughter I'd teach her to ride her bike today. She's waiting for a collapse. I've given her sweets, but this is a tricky spell for me.

The break for Australia has come at the right time because England look really comfortable and they'll be happy with that.

  8. drinks break

    Eng 174-4published at 45 overs

    Target 371

England run a quick single to end the over, the throw goes in to the non-striker's end... and deflects off Ben Stokes' bat!

Steady everyone, we're not at that stage yet! There is an Australian fielder there to cut it off anyway.

    Time for drinks.

  9. Eng 172-4published at 44.4 overs

    Target 371

Ben Stokes pulls Cameron Green in front of square for a single and a ripple goes around Lord's.

England now need fewer than 200 to win...

England bowled 74 extras while Australia have currently bowled 32, so that's a big difference at the moment.

@martin 11:55. Completely agree. 18 months ago we would’ve been saying it was game over once Australia were 280 ahead. Great to have hope no matter what these days!!

Your wife isn't Australian, is she, Gus?

Australia have to be patient, situations like this play on your mind but one wicket and it changes the whole game.

England can't afford to make a mistake whereas Australia can and still in the game.

We've seen Ben Stokes use his feet to the seamers plenty of times in the past year and he's done it a couple of times again today.

He has been more selective about when he is going to do it, though, and has done well to adjust the shot if it isn't there to be hit.

That's what he does to Josh Hazlewood in this over, skipping down before cutting behind square for two.

That was the seventh wide from Australia and all of them have been for height. England had more accuracy when they were playing the short ball tactic.

It's hard to play attacking shots when you're not sure of the bounce on this wicket.

Steve Smith, who was three quarters of the way back at backward square leg, is now up saving one.

It stops Ben Duckett getting an easy single with that gentle, controlled pull shot that has brought him so many of his runs in this innings.

Another change in the field sees Smith moved out of that region completely and Duckett times the ball superbly through that gap for four!

The other run in the over came from a wide as Cameron Green overcooks a bouncer - far too high.

A great thing Bazball has given English cricket is a belief that a record English fourth innings run chase from 45-4 against arguably the best attack in the world is still possible.
