Spicy is a good word for this atmosphere. The England fans are roaring the ball to the fence and then return to their chants of "same old Aussies, always cheating."

Stokes is now going for it!
Target 371
Four more!
Pulled square this time. Ben Stokes has been sparked into life by that incident.
It's a no-ball as well.

Stokes was loading up there, it was a big swing!
Target 371
It's all happening now!
Ben Stokes has an almighty swing at a short ball from Cameron Green and his bat comes flying out of his hands towards square leg.
Short again and Stokes slaps it for four! Huge cheers.
It is a very spicy atmosphere at Lord's now!
George Dobell: Might it be a little bit funny if they tried to bowl the next over underarm?
Stuart Broad is having plenty of words with Marnus Labuschagne now. He is clearly seething.
Him and the rest of the Lord's crowd.

An Aussie here. Bairstow technically out, but not in 'spirit'. No one still moaning about Starc yesterday can be happy with that dismissal. Shall make rest of series spicy!
Megan, London
By the letter of the law he is out - but what an unsportsmanlike, underhanded way to take a crucial wicket by the Aussies. Booing fully deserved.

Was the ball dead? It might be a bit of laziness from Bairstow but it depends whether the umpire called over.
It doesn't look or feel right but as a batter you have to have that awareness. It was a take an an immediate under arm throw. Bairstow didn't take one glance behind him to see what Carey was doing.
This will be another incident that will be spoken about.
Stuart Broad is OK to continue and flicks a single to fine leg. Cue more boos as the Australia field goes to collect it.
This is Lord's. Imagine if this had happened elsewhere. Australia might be getting away lightly!
End of the over and the boos ring out once more.

Never heard Lord’s react like that. And more than one Australian in the media centre shaking their heads in dismay that that appeal wasn’t withdrawn.

After another trip to the laws book, this is the relevant section:
20.1.2 The ball shall be considered to be dead when it is clear to the bowler’s end umpire that the fielding side and both batters at the wicket have ceased to regard it as in play.
Going by that, Australia clearly didn't regard the ball dead.
Chris Stocks: Stuart Broad to Alex Carey on stump mic: "You'll forever be remembered for that."
Stuart Broad is in at number eight and is hit on the lid by a Pat Cummins bouncer.
We'll have a delay as he is checked. A few more moments to try and compute what we have just seen!
The boos has stopped for now and there is a stunned silence around Lord's.

Unsportsmanlike behaviour. The umpire at the bowlers end is not looking and is unclipping the bowlers cap. Cummins could have withdrawn the appeal

"Same old Aussies, always cheating," sings the vast majority of Lord's.
A pretty ugly atmosphere.
The boos continue to ring around Lord's. We are going to hear a lot more about that.
This is quite extraordinary. I can't quite believe that has happened. How much does it have to do with the Micthell Starc catch last night?
"Cheat, cheat, cheat," is the latest chant from the crowd.
Glenn McGrath
Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special
It all depends on when the umpire called 'over' then. Carey threw at the stumps even before Bairstow was walking.

This will be ugly. The Australians could have withdrawn the appeal but they haven't. Stokes is talking to the umpires, he's not happy at all.
Bairstow st Carey 10 (Eng 193-6)
It's given. Jonny Bairstow is livid.
Bairstow tapped his foot back in the crease, Alex Carey's throw may have come in before he left his ground.
Australia could have withdrawn their appeal. They didn't.
"Same old Aussies, always cheating," chant the crowd.
Bairstow is run out by Carey
